I brought my wedding band in for a repair after one diamond fell out (which I was fortunate enough to find). I was quoted a little over $200 for the diamond replacement and a very minor resize of ¼ size down. When I went to pick up the ring, I was informed--after the work was already completed--that additional prongs had been replaced on both sides of the ring and that I now owed an extra $240. I was never contacted, informed, or asked for approval before this additional work was done. The explanation given was that some of the prong work was necessary due to resizing. However, after waiting over 40 minutes at pickup because the ring was "in billing," I was then told the resize had actually been forgotten entirely and had to be done on the spot. This made the justification for the unapproved prong work even more concerning. After calling twice and initially being brushed off by sales associates, I finally spoke with the owner, who acknowledged that I had not consented to the extra work and agreed to waive the additional charge. While I appreciate the owner ultimately correcting the billing, the situation itself should never have occurred. Jewelry--especially a wedding band--is deeply personal. Any additional work, design changes, or charges should never be performed without explicit customer approval. Between the unapproved services, forgotten resize, and billing delay, the experience felt disorganized and stressful. I would urge future customers to proceed with caution, insist on written estimates, and require approval before any additional work is done. read more

We came into Claydon Jewelers months ago with no knowledge whatsoever of jewelry, let alone engagement rings. From the minute we spoke to Roselle on the phone, she guided us through the entire process smoothly with thorough explanations for everything from clarity to prong style to bridge height! We were both unsure and particular about everything regarding the ring style (I know, a customer nightmare!), but Roselle worked with us the entire time to ensure the ring came out to be exactly what we wanted. She offered so many options, maintained consistent communication, and made sure we were fully involved in the process. Overall, the planning took about two months and the design of the ring took about 5-6 weeks (we noted that we were not on a specific time schedule so did not need to rush!). When the final design came back, Roselle got the ring and found the engraving design not to her standard. She let us know and then sent the ring out AGAIN to a DIFFERENT engraver to ensure our design ideas would meet and exceed both her and our standard, and did it ever!!! Because of Claydon Jewelers, we now have a beautifully perfect one-of-a-kind custom ring that exceeds all expectations we could have had. We ended up going with a 3-carat emerald cut diamond on a yellow gold band with a custom filigree design. The outcome is perfect and exactly what we imagined. I can't say enough good things about Clark and his family. I am in love with my new (old) wedding ring. While shopping and doing some other business there, I asked them to clean my ring. Thank gosh I did....my stones were barely hanging on and thanks to an amazing magnifier device they had they were able to show me that four of my prongs were dangerously low and recommended I not wear the ring very much. The other 10 were also worn down but now as bad as the 4 where my diamonds were close to falling out. I opted to have all 14 prongs redone to preserve my ring which is from the late 30s or early 40s. Clark assured me his dad loved doing projects like that and that it would be amazing. It sure was. In addition, my shank was super think and needed to be rebuilt up but I was scared to leave my ring with anyone because I didn't trust anyone. Not only did I feel that they were trustworthy but they were also able to solve the problem of my ring spinning around because it is top heavy. Because of that I wore it extra tight so it wouldn't spin. They were able to size up half a size and add two prongs to keep it from spinning. The final kicker is that I was promised the ring before Christmas and though I wasn't going to press it, I did get my ring on December 23rd and it was so beautiful, shiny and twinkling that I cried when I saw it. I will be going back now with a beautiful piece my husband go me for my anniversary that Clark's mom will help me redesign. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. I have already recommended several friends go there because they were worried about leaving their heirlooms as well. BONUS: Two amazing house dogs that help keep you company while you wait. Came in really excited to design my engagement ring. Unfortunately, from the beginning, I felt a bit uncomfortable. Mh friend scheduled an appt for us, and the staff seemed a bit confused. Nonetheless, we were helped maybe 10-15 minutes later. The jeweler that helped me design the ring didn't really explain much to me or the different types of designs that they have. I already wasn't sure what I wanted or how the processed worked so I was really hoping to get some insight and some help. However, I knew I wanted a Marquise cut. She only showed me two different options of cuts besides Marquise and two different bands. She wrote notes down regarding our visit and told me she would email me with them, yet I still haven't received anything. I was under the impression that I would get a follow up email and AT LEAST the notes from the visit. The appt seemed rush and as if she didn't want to get to know me and help me design my ring. Honestly was pretty disappointed and bummed about my experience here. I had made an appointment a few weeks prior for my friend to look at engagement rings. Upon our arrival, we weren't greeted for a few minutes. I understand the workers helping other customers, but my friend and I were awkwardly standing around for a couple minutes before even being approached. Once we were approached, I told them I had an appointment and was asked who my appointment was with. When I made my appointment a few weeks earlier, I was never told or reached out to who my appointment was with. We were then seated and were told to wait for someone to help us. The jeweler came by and wasn't the warmest. My friend really had no idea exactly what she was shopping for, but knew that a marquise ring was what she wanted. We both felt that the appointment was not at all personable and rushed, as it only took maybe 45 minutes. Shopping for engagement rings should be a special and fulfilling experience, but it felt that we were more of a bother and didn't exactly feel welcomed. I came here because of the stellar reviews and was looking forward to receiving the same treatment, but unfortunately did not. Wow just WOW!!!! I have found my new jeweler for life! One of the prongs on my engagement ring was missing, so I searched for a jeweler to repair it. After reading the reviews, I really wanted to come here and see if I'd feel comfortable entrusting my most precious piece of jewelry to them. The vibes were PERFECT. They are a TRUE family business! Mom, Dad, sister and brother all working together along with their two dogs :-) We worked with Clark who took his time to really look at my ring and showed me something very concerning. Not only had a prong come off but after removing the stone, we saw another was cracked and another was dented and scratched. I'd visited the original jeweler a year ago who reshaped a prong but that was it. I was on the verge of losing my center stone!! Anyhow, Clark advised me to replace the entire head. I trusted him enough to leave the entire ring with him. His communication was great. He text me three different heads to choose from, and ordered all three for me since I couldn't decide with a picture. I came in a day later and worked with Ms. Austin to decide the best fit. She is quite knowledgeable and patient. Her husband who does the setting also helped me decide. I was so grateful for them taking the time to give me guidance. TL;DR: I am extremely satisfied with the exceptional quality and top-notch customer service and would highly recommend their services to anyone! My experience with Claydon Jewelers started back in late 2017, when I was referred to them by a close friend who had worked with Cliff to design his wife's engagement ring. At the time, I was still working out an approximate design idea for an engagement ring for my girlfriend (now wife) and was seeking a very specific color and cut of blue-green sapphire. At that time, we'd been dating for 5 years, and I wanted to create the perfect ring to fit her exact preferences. Cliff and Austin worked with me to locate prospective stones. I was looking for a very specific sapphire type, with a rich variety of blue-green colors, with hues varying depending on the angle, similar to the colors of the ocean waters of Fiji, where my wife served in the Peace Corps. I later learned (over the course of ~8 months) that this particular blue-green color preference in the desired cut and carat size was extraordinarily hard to find. Over that time, Cliff visited multiple jeweler convention events and called many associates, following every possible lead to find exactly the right sapphire. After many months of searching and careful inspection, we found it--the perfect stone! I sketched out a number of concepts for the rose-gold setting and explained my overall vision to Cliff. Finally, after all this time, preparations were complete for the proposal! However, I realized that it'd be somewhat risky to take this one-of-a-kind ring to Fiji to propose, and so I worked with Austin to make a smaller "travel ring" in the same design theme, with a smaller blue-green sapphire in rose gold setting. This was swiftly prepared, reasonably priced, and perfectly matched the spirit and aesthetic of the larger engagement ring. I proposed to my wife in Fiji on a hill overlooking the waters of Savusavu Bay, and the stone was perfect! When we returned to the United States, we visited Claydon Jewelers to pick up the larger engagement ring, which was utterly stunning. Cliff perfectly executed on the vision--a prominently displayed blue-green sapphire set in an organically-flowing rose gold setting, resembling ocean waves, with inlaid diamonds running up the sides. My wife was brought to tears and absolutely loves and treasures that ring. When it came time to start planning for the wedding, we returned to Claydon Jewelers to select wedding rings. For my wife, we made a custom band that fits perfectly to the unique profile of the aforementioned engagement ring, matching in rose-gold color and style, complete with inlaid diamonds. I purchased a sleek-looking black band with an inlaid strip of rose gold for matching aesthetic. On very short notice, the week before the wedding, I dropped by again with a (perhaps unreasonably urgent) request for a pair of dangling drop earrings with matching-colored sapphires set in rose gold. They were able to quickly locate the perfect stones and designed a simply stunning set of earrings in just several days, and my wife wore them on our wedding day. Over these past several years, I continue to return to Claydon Jewelers because they are simply excellent and I implicitly trust them to do a stunning job. My experience with everyone (except Clark) has been exceptional. They are so kind, polite, and very helpful. This place is very busy and there can be a wait but hey do offer appointments (which I haven't taken advantage of so my wait was expected. My experience with Clark was pretty bad so bad that no matter how great everyone else has been it was enough to just want to easily find another place. He comes off very ..... pompous, kind of with a turned up nose. I came in to have some jewelry (purchased else where) appraised to be insured. 1. He told me that my diamond was a waste because to the naked eye a lessor quality diamond looks the same and I could have saved money. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? IF I was shopping for a ring and mentioned I was on a budget I can understand that statement but he said that about a ring I ALREADY own. 2. He appraised my ring at a lessor weight based off a guess-ta-mation (measuring while in the settings) even though I had the paperwork/receipt from where I purchased it. His ego didn't want to discuss it. I took it to have the diamonds officially weighed and I was right he under valued it. 3. He gave me a big schpeal on fudging the appraisal, why did he look at me and tell me this. I was looking for an appraisal to get insured not looking to do fraud. It felt insulting. My whole experience felt insulting I don't like to use the "Card" maybe, maybe not but there is definitely this aire of ego and arrogance that was just so off putting. I know he's the son of the owners so maybe thats why he behaves this way but I would recommend a lesson on customer service. Oh yeah I went in another time with a friend (who recommended me) and he immediately told us as we walked in, I haven't eaten, I'm going to eat and left us waiting. Thankfully I would have waiting for ANYONE else but seriously just terrible customer service.
