I went there to ask about nonprescription sunglasses. The receptionist said I would need an eye exam. I explained to her that I didn't need an exam. She insisted that I needed the exam for my insurance. I explained to her that my insurance allows for me to get nonprescription sunglasses. I asked her if she wouldn't mind checking. She cut me off mid-sentence and told me to have seat. She went to talk to the dentist and sure enough, I don't need an eye exam for sunglasses. The dentist was very polite and professional and explained that I didn't need an exam. I just needed to bring in some documents. The dentist was nice, but the receptionist makes me want to take my business elsewhere. read more

WOW, better than expected. NO OTHER store would take my cheaper plastic frames to fill my prescription, NONE! They didn't want to risk the frame breaking, even tho I offered to sign a waiver. But this place didn't bat an eye. Dropped off my frames and I was in & out in 5 minutes AND got my glasses back in 10 days when most places take 2 weeks. Forget Costco and all these other hoity toitys who insist you buy THEIR overpriced frames, this is the place! Fast, efficient, very reasonable price. I definitely found my new eyeglass place. I have been to this optometrists office twice in the last 4 years, and both times, especially the last time, the lady receptionist was very rude and unhelpful. When I picked up my glasses, another woman tried to fit them for me but all she did was bend them into almost a c shape and no adjustment around the nose. They sort of fit but I quickly realized a couple days later than they kept falling down my nose and the ear part was uncomfortable. I took them back to get readjusted. As soon as I told the girl at the front desk I needed an adjustment, she accusatorially asked why, what was wrong with them. As I told her they didn't fit right, she just kept saying well that's just how they fit, etc. She did bend them some around the nose, but they still didn't fit. She wasn't being careful with the glasses and left smudging and fingerprints on the lenses, but didn't bother to wipe them before giving them back to me. The two optometrists I've seen were very friendly and helpful. No complaints with them. However, after this last experience with the office staff, I will not be returning to this office. I've had much better experiences at other places, so I'll be looking for a new optometrist going forward. read more

I came here for some new glasses. It was an alright experience. The doctor went through my eye exam at an above average rate. I just wish the front desk people had the same amount of work ethic as the doctor. They weren't very reliable in terms of helping me choose good frames and following up with me. The person helping me with glasses wasn't a very good listener... I remember they said there were some delays with getting my glasses. I would call once a week and no one ever got back to me but eventually got my glasses around 2.5 weeks later from my appointment. read more

The eye doctor seemed very thorough in the examination. No problem there. But filling the prescription has so far been very annoying. First, they said the prescription should be ready in 1-2 weeks. Hearing nothing after 2 weeks, I called and they said one pair was in but the other had come in incorrectly and had to be sent back to be remade. (Why they didn't call and ask if I wanted the first pair remains a mystery.) It has now been 5 weeks since the exam, and I still don't have the 2nd pair and no word from them as to what is happening. Also, when I did pick up the first pair, there was no effort to make sure that the fit was OK and/or make any adjustments (like every other place I have ever purchased glasses from has done). They just said to put them on and see if the distance looked clear and sent me on my merry way. I guess that is pretty typical for "customer service" today when staff is in a hurry to get back to their cell phones so they can continue TikToking or whatever it is that is so much more important than their job. I guess my recommendation would be to go ahead and get your eyes examined here, get a written prescription, and buy your glasses somewhere else. read more

So here's the thing...I'm Asian...I have a flat nose...or more accurately, I don't have a nose bridge. With that, glasses tend to pose a problem for me because they always rest on my cheeks. I'm typically stuck with ugly, unfashionable, geeky glasses. Enter Dr. Su. Not only is she an expert optometrist, she has an eye for selecting sleek, fashionable glasses for all types of faces (or in my case, my nonexistent nose). She always helps me pick out the perfect glasses / sunglasses and I'm always very satisfied with her choices. If I were to pick them on my own, I'd walk out with people laughing at me. We used the same optometrist for over 20 years on Torrance blvd. Down by the pier until he recently retired. We would be happy to make the drive if he were still open because I never had a problem there. These folks had decent reviews and were right around the corner so we decided to give it a try. The exam went well but selection of frames were more of an " on your own" thing with no help at all. When my glasses were ready I had trouble seeing right when I tried them on. They said "it will take time to adjust". We'll my vision never improved and I noticed when I cover my left eye I could see nothing but a blur out of my right, the old glasses were nothing like that. I brought them back because obviously they were wrong and they tested them and handed them back and said they were right. it's too bad this was the end of the relationship because I would think they would keep trying until I was happy. Then I brought my wife's glasses in for a repair and they made a deep scratch in the lens. Anyway we'll keep looking for a good optometrist because this is not it. Update: went to Costco vision and had a quick exam and we each got new glasses and new sunglasses, fair prices and amazing quality. I can finally see. I had to use an old pair for the year until I could get new ones because this place wasted my time and money. read more

I've been putting off an eye exam because of the whole COVID thing. But my eyes have been bothering me - staring at screens all day... computer, phone, more phone. I'd normally go to a Costco or chain store but it's cramped and always crowded there. So I asked my friends and neighbors and several recommended this place and Dr. Su. I called and told them about my anxiety and they explained their safety protocols and put me at ease. I made an appointment and had a great experience. Parking spaces right out front. Clean office. Lots of frames. Friendly and helpful people. And the doctor is so nice! She went over all the different options and answered tons of questions. So nice to see a doctor who takes the time. I ended up getting two pairs glasses and when I went to pick them up, they had me try it out and adjusted the fit so it's perfect. SB Eye Care ROCKS! They are patient, friendly, and REALLY work with the patient.They are also efficient and work within your budget! My insurance company covers $130 towards frames and they were patient enough to show me frames that fell within that price range (of course I ended up buying a more expensive pair because after all, I HAVE to be fabulous!). I wear my glasses a little lower on my bridge and they took measurements to make sure that my lenses were adjusted accordingly!! Talk about rad customer service! I would definitely choose LensCrafters over this place. The staff was incredibly unprofessional and rude. I felt the Doctor was not thorough enough in the examination and it felt like the staff had no clue what they were doing. All my prescriptions were incorrect, and I was met with attitude from the Doctor and staff when this was pointed out. I was so unhappy with the glasses I got here! They weren't the right strength, they got scratches right away, even thou I got the scratch protection, They didn't fit my face, keep falling off, They broke after 9 months. And weren't under warranty, weren't strong enough so I went to Lens Crafters and I got professional service with a guarantee of 90 days that if anything is wrong they will replace them. Len Crafters has the newest equipment so there won't be any mistakes. I can't wait to be able to see without blurry vision! The girl that helped me in the office didn't know what she was doing!
