We adopted our golden retriever October 2, 2021 in the middle of COVID. We adopted her then not because of COVID, but because we really wanted her. We didn't research veterinarians at all, since we thought they all must love animals. Living in Bellmore, we visited the South Bellmore Veterinary Group. From the first visit, we hated the place. It is filthy, chairs are ripped, walls chipped and floors dirty with reams of cans and bags of dog and cat food resembling a warehouse. The "reception" area with its high desk, allows very little visibility and ensures no interaction with pets entering the office. Unless your pet jumps up to say 'hi', which ours always did, there is no courtesy of a greeting or hello for patients and their owners. They do have signs prominently displayed here though indicating CASH ONLY, AMEX NOT ACCEPTED. Additionally, if you use another credit card there is an outrageous fee. During our first visit, we were unaware of this policy. As we handed an AMEX card, we were greeted with eye rolls, moans and an "OK, just this time, ugh". They dont accept checks either. They claim their 'machine' (check machine?) broke down two years ago with no apparent intention to repair it. Frustration mounted when they would whisk our dog away to a back room for her shots. We were never allowed to attend with our dog and subsequent communication with the doctor was non-existent. Visits became more dreadful each time. The 'tech' would claim our dog "expressed" herself in the back room and we had no idea what this meant or why the dog behaved this way. As our golden retriever reached the age of two, we decided she was fully matured and a good time to spay her. (We actually learned this from our groomer who owned five retrievers and always welcomes our questions.) We informed Dr. Rosen and Dr. Franco we were waiting until she was two years old. Their reply was 'the world has enough dogs. We are glad to take her parts out. People do not want golden retrievers anymore because they shed. Instead they want doodles". Our spay was scheduled for February 7th, 2024. I informed the receptionist she is due to go into heat at this time and was concerned about excessive bleeding resulting from going into heat in combination with the surgery. Their only concern was for us to provide the cash deposit ASAP for half or $800, which we did. Four days before the scheduled surgery, we received a call from this vet informing us this week of the surgery was "Dental Week". As a result, we would have to reschedule. Well this turned out to be a lie. After putting me on hold, they said "your dog is large (73 lbs) so TWO doctors would be needed to perform this seemingly routine surgery. They claimed this requires major abdominal surgery , her vessels are big and they WOULD HAVE TO SEARCH FOR HER OVARIES, that Dr. Rosen is not comfortable performing this alone and she would require Dr. Foley's attendance. This was all news to us, previously the receptionist told us Dr. Rosen alone would perform the surgery. Dr. Foley got on the phone and told us we should be thankful, there will be two of them and Dr. Rosen is doing this on her day off, and we should reschedule. At this point, I was not comfortable talking to this crew, much less allowing them to touch my pet. Our last visit was Saturday February 3rd after Foley (the owner of this establishment, incidentally) told us to come in to get our records and deposit. There, the receptionists told us to come back Monday. Frustrated, we insisted on waiting an hour for the office manager to come in and write us a check (yes they want cash, but you get a check). In tears, we had to tell them she was going into heat around the date of the scheduled surgery and our research on-line indicated this is the worst time for surgery due to the possibility of excessive bleeding. They were very cavalier and said "oh, we will have to talk to whoever scheduled you". If they are professionals, we should not have to tell them this, but they just don't seem to care. To South Bellmore Veterinary Group, please do not respond, apologize, fight back or CYA for the internet to see. We don't want to hear from you. You are a disgrace. Wwe will tell everyone in person not to patronize your establishment and judging by the other complaints on-line, you should be shut down, quite frankly. read more

...We all have busy schedules, therefore we may not take the time to write a review for services that we encounter. However, the South Bellmore Veterinary Group has been so outstanding that I just had to take a moment to enlighten those that love their animals! I have had a total of 11 dogs throughout my life! And needless to say, I have been to many a veterinary groups, including L.I.V.S. and the Manhattan Speciality Hospital. I have found that somewhere along the way, veterinarians lose their vision, (or love for their chosen profession), compassion and even the ability to correctly diagnose! However, the doctors, the staff, (both receptionist and technicians.) have ALWAYS made a trip to the vet an amazing experience! Whether our visits were for a routine check-up or a life threatening emergency; the care has been far superior than any hospital or office that I have EVER been too. The South Bellmore Veterinary Group's facility is state of the art, clean and effiicient. I have never had to wait more then five minutes! They never overbook and always make sure that your pet (and myself), have a calming experience. Dr. Rob Foley's passion and brilliance in his field is second to none! He continually goes above and beyond what I can possibly expect from any doctor. He has saved my dogs life, when other specialist suggested that I put him down! Needless to say, four years later, my little maltese is still with me! I can never thank him enough for not giving up on my little Biggie Smalls! Dr. Foley and Dr. Rosen recently operated on my Shih-Tzu, Sugar. Her care and recovery have exceeded any of my expectations! I'm so thrilled and thankful to have Sugar back home. Dr. Terri Eylers's compassion and expertise continues to remind me of what an amazingly dynamic group South Bellmore Vet group is! Dr. Mike Ferber was also always available for any questions that I had. I have never been to a facility where the staff is as compassionate as the doctors. My thanks to Francine, Cynthia, Vanessa, Tia, Taylor and everyone there that have been available and as caring as they are. I am a real estate professional and I have recommended all of my clients that have pets to use The South Bellmore Vet Group. I always get a raving thank you, as their experience has been just as positive. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Completely unprofessional the way this place is run. My dog went in for surgery to have a tumor removed from his mouth, and I was quoted one price for the procedure. I was told that my dog would be put under using tranquilization and I questioned this because he has had a tumor removed before and that vet used anesthesia. The vet never mentioned it in our consultation and the vet tech assured me that tranquilization is what they planned on using. My dog was dropped off at 9:30AM, I received a phone call from the office at 12:30PM saying that they need my consent to use anesthesia for my dog's tumor removal and that it was an extra $225. I was in awe because the vet never disclosed this information(and he is suppose to be the expert) and I questioned it when I dropped my dog off. I gave my consent. I waited to hear back from the vet to make sure everything went smoothly. I HAD TO CALL THEM!!!! No one reached out to me. I went to pick my dog up, I told the office I wanted to talk the vet about the extra $225, a mistake that they had made. The vet was completely unprofessional and rude. No apology was given, he was appalled that I even questioned why I was being charged for a mistake that was made on their behalf, AND I QUESTIONED IT before I dropped my dog off!!!! People be aware of vets like this!!!! I feel I was taken advantage right before my dog was about to have surgery, and at that point you say yes to everything because you are nervous to begin with. I am completely disgusted with this places procedures. I finally get to see my dog, and I HAD TO ASK for my discharge papers!!!!!! Are you kidding me???!!!! The vet didn't go over it with me, the vet tech didn't go over it with me, you know who went over it with me, THE RECEPTIONIST!!!! I didn't know she was qualified to give medical discharge papers..... COMPLETLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS PLACE. The only helpful person in the entire place was the receptionist. Maybe this is just one experience for one person, but please educate yourself before your animal goes in for surgery. I would do anything for my dog, but I wont be taken advantage of. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing and honestly very concerning. I brought my dog in because she had noticeable weight loss, elevated white blood cells and neutrophils, skin lesions/cysts, and was clearly not acting herself. Instead of leaving feeling reassured, I left confused, frustrated, and even more worried. Communication was poor from the beginning. I was told the vet would call me around 11 AM and never did. When I followed up, I was told to come in at 12 PM. Then I later received a text saying after speaking with Dr. Franko and Dr. Rosen, they wanted her to go to internal medicine for further workup and a sonogram/ultrasound. This was frustrating because the day before I had been told an in-house sonogram would be done. What upset me most was the care itself. One scab/cyst area on my dog's back was removed, leaving her with a bleeding open wound. Then when I noticed another area and asked to quickly see a doctor, I was told the doctor had already left. Instead, a technician brought my dog to the back, "combed out" another area, and she came back with another bleeding open hole. I still never got clear answers as to why one lesion was removed, why another was handled differently, whether these areas need biopsy/testing, or why recommendations kept changing. Now what makes this even harder is my dog is not eating, acting worse, shaking, wheezing, and not looking good at all. As a pet owner, that is terrifying. When your dog has elevated bloodwork, weight loss, skin lesions, and is clearly declining, you expect urgency, communication, and a thorough evaluation. but overall I left feeling like my dog needed a much better evaluation, clearer answers, and more consistency in care. When you trust someone with your pet, transparency and proper communication matter. This experience was not what I expected, and I left feeling let down and very concerned for my dog's health. read more

I have been taking my dogs to South Bellmore Veterinary Group since 2003! I have had a total of eight dogs throughout my life, therefore, I have seen many veterinarians from Queens to Seaford. The doctors are amazing, Dr. Foley, Dr. Michael and Dr. Rosen are professional, yet patient and informative with us "pet parents." They NEVER over charge, (as some vets do). We have never waited, (with a nervous dog) more then 3 minutes. They are the only doctors that I know that actually see you at the time of your appointment! The facility is clean and beautiful. The girls at the reception desk, especially, Vanessa, Cathy and Cynthia are compassionate, accommodating and friendly. They continue to go above and beyond their duties to ensure that we have a pleasant experience. The techs in the back, including Vic, Francine and Tia are kind and knowledgeable. The South Bellmore Veterinary group have always been available and "right on" in an emergency. I am thrilled to have found an entire group that I trust my little "family" with. We switched here about a year ago with our two cats Coby and Zoey! Every single phone call I have made here the front staff girls have been nothing but friendly kind and accommodating even on a week night when it was late and I called with an emergency and they said come right over. That night we ended up having to put our cat down and even with this being an absolute horrible experience for myself and family Dr Carrie and her team made it the best it could be in that situation. Kind patient and took all the time to help guide us and answer all our questions and concerns in making the best decision for our 16 year old baby! I have been back here since several times and absolutely adore Dr Carrie and the entire staff! Have highly recommend this office to friends and will continue to do so! read more

We bring our dog Eva here for all of her Vet needs. Eva is a boxer/lab mix and is always hyper excited on her visits. The team at the front desk knows that Eva will "happy pee" on every visit, which to most would be an annoyance, and yet they still are always happy to see us. They have been consistently gentle in their handlings of our dog and her needs. I strongly recommend this location and encourage anyone looking for a new Vet to pursue this location for their veterinary needs! read more

Beautiful clean facility. The doctors are great as is the rest of the staff. All of the doctors are great with my dog, are always on time, and give you a lot of time and attention and answer all the questions you have. They are without a doubt very informative and attentive.
