Though it is completely fenced, if you have a smaller dog, you will probably definitely want to follow them around the first time you go. It's that big. The first time I took my puppy, someone actually offered to help me go find him because he had disappeared. Luckily, just at that moment, he came running out of the woods. There's also a small pool that you can fill up with water for your dogs and several water bowls. The park is a bit hidden, so you really have to look for the chain-link fence. There is no one area for small or big dogs. And there are several areas for seating. For me, this would not be an every day park, but maybe once a month for the new smells and new dogs.

The trails make this spot so unique and so nice to go on an off leash "hike" - it's a peaceful and shady spot that stays cool even on the hottest days. The park is very well maintained by volunteers, and we've found dog owners to be very friendly and attentive on each of our visits.

The current playground is much larger, with a smaller playground for younger kids. They have also installed an active gaming system with poles in a circle. Kids can choose various games where they have to move around. Besides the playground, the walking trails are very scenic, with lots of tall trees, shrubs, creek, and even a railroad track nearby. The younger kids especially enjoying seeing the trains come by often. There are many squirrels that will likely approach you as people love to feed them. There is a seating area you can reserve and host birthday parties. Grills are also available. Right next door is another large venue where people have had weddings. They also built in two small dog parks, one for smaller sized dogs. There are two parking lots with plenty of parking. The park opens from sunrise to sunset.

I like that…read morethey have water available and depending on the day and time, it is likely for them to have a fur friend to play with. The other dog owners are usually very nice and monitor their dogs. I have not had any issues. Sometimes, they have no dog bags available to clean up after your dogs when they relieve themselves, so I tend to bring a few of my own just in case. The dog park is behind the animal shelter near the skate park and not on the side where the recreational center is located. I like that the gates are easy to access but also close together and divided by small dog and large dog areas. If you are alone or if you come when it is less dogs out, the options available make it easier to keep the dogs safe or separated if needed. Deer Lick Park also offers recreational activities. We participated in basketball and it was nice to see this facility in action for group pictures and games. The staff is friendly and responsive and this park offers a nice place for exercise and community engagement. I also remember attending a Zumba party here many years ago. Overall, this is a nice park.

Nice double-gated concrete entry area with a bench on that as well as both parts have a couple benches up in the trees. But they have no shade or shelter structure? You have to park a little distance away and it is a bit of a walk uphill but, well, I probably personally wouldn't make it again for the dog park

I am well aware that some parks restrict the number of dogs one can bring, and I understand why that may be the case. On the flip side, I always scout a park, before I bring my dogs out of the car. I looked this park up in Yelp and thought it'd be nice. From what I saw, it was. However, unlike some parks where the parking lot is immediately adjacent to the park, this park has quite a bit of green space between the main lot and the fenced dog areas. Even the secondary or smaller parking lot is separated by 2 small foot bridges and a bit of green space. As beautiful as the area is, I am not comfortable traversing the large open areas with 3. It would be great for 1 or 2, though. I do encourage others to consider this park, though.
