Review for Dr. Yashar - 9/25/24 I had an appointment with Dr. Yashar this morning, and it was by far one of the most unprofessional encounters I've experienced in healthcare. Upon my arrival at 6 AM, Dr. Yashar took the opportunity not to focus on patient care but to publicly address my previous Yelp review in front of his nurses and assistants. He humiliated me by stating that he couldn't help a patient who didn't "trust" him and warned me to "be careful about unfair Yelp reviews" because he could "sue me for defamation." Dr. Yashar, let me clarify a few things. First, your threats of legal action for expressing my opinion are not only unfounded but a blatant misunderstanding of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which protects my right to freedom of speech. Unless I'm spreading false information with malicious intent, which I am not, I cannot be sued for defamation. As a patient, I have every right to share my experience, whether positive or negative, so that others can make informed decisions. Medical school may not have taught you about political science or emotional intelligence, but as a future practitioner in mental health, I suggest you practice some mindfulness. Instead of addressing my concerns with professionalism and respect, you raised your voice and projected your frustration about the review. Had you maintained patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and chosen to have a private, respectful conversation with me, I might have been open to reconsidering my review. Instead, your approach was inappropriate, and frankly, unethical. You asked why I would return to your surgery center if I didn't "trust" you. The answer is simple--convenience, the hope for a different experience, and trust in the rest of the staff, who have treated me with far more compassion and professionalism. This was my third appointment here. My second visit, when you were not my doctor, was significantly better. But today's experience with you has been the worst of all. Additionally, if you're going to refuse care, proper patient protocols should be in place. Making me come to your office, change into a hospital robe, get an IV placed, and then keeping me waiting in a cold room for two hours only to deny treatment is unacceptable. The responsibility for building a doctor-patient relationship falls on the physician, not the patient. Your staff was incredibly compassionate today, but unfortunately, I cannot say the same for you. This experience has left a lasting negative impression, and I hope you reflect on how you interact with future patients. read more

I had my surgery on February 28th. I talked to a few friends that also had the procedure. I did my own research and the gastric sleeve procedure was best for me. My friends suggested Dr. Naim because their surgeries went well and I could totally see my friends results. Dr Naim and his staff were awesome. I was hesitant to go forward with the procedure because this would be my first major surgery. I continued to gain weight and was approaching 300 lbs. I already had high blood pressure issues and was borderline diabetic. I also had sleep apnea. I had constant back and knee pain. Tying my shoes was a chore. Not to mention the severe sweating. I have tried all kinds of diets. They all worked but once I started eating regular food again I would gain the weight back and more. Dr. Niam explained the procedure and I decided it was my opportunity to get healthy again. The day of my surgery everything went smoothly. My surgery was about 45 minutes long. Quick and simple. My nurse, Shirley, was a blessing in disguise. She watched over me and had me up walking around right away. Shirley made me feel like I was family. She continued to give me my meds on time and got me up walking to make sure I had no blood clots. My friends said walking was the best thing to do after my surgery so I walked and walked. I was released the next morning and felt minor pain. I was completely off my pain meds two days later. Dr. Niam and his staff were wonderful. The staff made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the procedure. It's July and I'm down to 208 lbs. I feel great. I'm able to eat whatever I want but only in small portions. I have a beer from time to time but all and all I feel great. No more aches and pains. No more meds and no more sleep apnea. I have energy for days and my sex drive is through the roof. No more fat stomach in the way. Hey...... If you're thinking about having any weight loss surgery please do your research but when you're ready, Dr Niam is the doctor you should go see. Dr. Niam and his staff will treat you like family. Follow Dr. Niam's advice and you will be successful with your weight loss goals. Great surgeon with an awesome staff. ALL MOST DIED! I would not recommend this doctor or facility to anyone EVER! I had the gastric sleeve procedure Dec 12th 2019 done by Dr Joseph Niam. Upon waking up I immediately knew something was wrong. After begging to speak to the doctor to no avail I asked if I could stay an additional night to which they agreed at a rate of $1000 extra. Again I asked several times to speak with the surgeon and was ignored. The following day I went home. That evening I was taken to Riverside community hospital in septic shock. I would be taken in for emergency surgery with in hours. I can write an entire book from this point on but will just give you the summary. 5 surgeries 12 procedures 3 months ICU/hospital Home nurse for 3 Months I have multiple friends, Family, and Coworkers who all got this procedure. Many of them got it done in Mexico, which even the thought of that scared the hell out of me. So I paid top dollar to have it done at what appears to be a high end facility. What I didn't know is the normal procedure for post op is to have a CT / x-ray to make sure there are no leaks in the sleeve. THIS 1 SIMPLE INEXPENSIVE THING COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE AND POSSIBLY PREVENTED ME FROM A YEARS LONG BATTLE FOR MY OWN. HIS OFFICE DOES NOT DO THIS. While being out of work due to his near fatal mistake I asked him to refund me the 17k for the procedure at which time his office stop communicating with me. The staff communicated often and I was able to get approved through insurance relatively quickly (3.5 months). FALSE STATEMENT #1 ("I assure you that patient safety and successful outcomes are our highest priority") I laid in your facility for 2.5 days begging for help and to speak to my surgeon. I was ignored. False Statement #2 ("Our team of expert surgeons, nurses and healthcare staff adhere to the highest national standards and most up to date recommendations for safety and performance in its respective specialty. I assure you that none of these standards were compromised when it came to your particular surgery.") The highest??? I personally know 4 people who had the procedure done in Mexico! Her (expert) advice was to take more Norcos for pain Tylenol for FEVER and to "walk it off". Paid over $17k for this procedure and you guys couldn't swing a CT or an Ex-ray??? Never once did any of your staff say, huh this doesn't sound good. Maybe you should go to the ER. Instead you kept reassuring me that everthing was fine and to just walk and take more pills. By the time I had arrived at the hospital I was fully septic and in a incapacitated state. I came here last Monday for my rhinoplasty and this surgery center is very clean. The front office who checked me in was very pleasant. I felt at ease right away. Once I got called in by the nurse to get prepped she wasn't very warm but straight the point. I guess depends what type of personality you like. The anesthesiologist was very nice as well he didn't make me nervous at all about being asleep for my procedure. The nurse who I was with when I woke up from anesthesia and took me in the wheelchair was extremely nice!! Towards the end of your 20s you just start to lose control of your body. You begin to splurge a little more on food from those long work weeks and then you decide to delay going to the gym because you washed your face. After that vicious cycle you begin to struggle with getting back into healthy shape. I'm currently 2 weeks post op gastric sleeve and I want to give a huge shout out to Dr Naim and his amazing staff! I was very nervous at first but Dr Naim was very informative and caring. What surprised me was the amount of care that his staff provided me. I received personal text messages from the staff about my appointments, the day before his staff texted me to wish me good luck on the surgery, and Gladys at the office even went out to buy all the preoperative and postoperative items that I needed such as protein shakes, broth, jello, vitamin water, and vitamins. I cancelled my weight loss surgery here. First impression was a rushed consultation and a patient marched through the waiting room straight out of surgery in a drugged state on an IV. Scheduled calls with a nutritionist never came unless I called and tracked her down. After many of these instances I decided to look somewhere else and cancel. I let the office know, which led the surgical coordinator to call and text my cell at 9:30pm asking why I was cancelling and begging me to reconsider. I actually did, and decided to move forward. Then my very next scheduled call with the nutritionist never came, again. That was it for me, too many red flags. I thought a courtesy call to the office to politely explain that I am cancelling and all the reasons why were enough, but the texts begging me to stay started happening again anyways. Months later I still receive emails as if I never cancelled at all. So unorganized. read more

Dr. Naim and his team are amazing! Dr. Naim is very direct and knows what he is doing. I had no pain, just soreness, nausea was my only issue and i always have that issue after surgery. His entire team were very professional yet kind and caring. He has the best assistant consultant in Gladys, i could get a hold of her 24/7 and she always responded to me. She makes you feel like you are the only patient they have, pretty remarkable. Sleeve surgery done almost a month ago, down 20lbs and feel excellent. Well, where should I start? Let's just start from the beginning! I first called for info and spoke to Jissel, very nice and helpful! I then spoke to Gladys once I had my first visit! I am 31 yrs old and never had any type of surgery, I was a complete nervous mess while I was looking into the surgery! Once I had my consultation and spoke with Dr. Naim, I wasn't as nervous or scared, my consultation was very informative and helpful in my decision making. I have been seeing Dr. K Charles Kim since 2005. He has performed breast augmentation (2005), tummy tuck (2005), lipo (2006), breast reduction and lift (2015 and injectables (Kybella and Botox). For my Mom, he has performed a tummy tuck (2005) and face lift (2017). I can't even begin to express my complete satisfaction with the entire staff. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Pearson was so attentive and in touch to what the patient needs before, during and after surgery to ensure the safest procedure and quickest recovery. She spent about 30 minutes with me, following my Mom's surgery, covering my Mom's condition and blood work. The things she identified explained so much of what my Mom has been dealing with for over a decade and none of my Mom's medical doctor's had called attention to the low red blood count condition (the issues caused by low chronic red blood count explains so much). Dr. Pearson was sure to give me solid guidance on how to make sure the medical problem was investigated following my mom's surgery as well as provide such amazing tips on how to care for my Mom following the surgery. The way Dr. K Charles Kim and Dr. Pearson work together is just incredible. My Mom was given blockers and following her surgery she experienced very little pain, so much so, pain medication was not needed during recovery. Dr. K Charles Kim... what can I say, other than he is a perfectionist!!! He will not sell you on procedures that are not going to produce the result you wish to see. He takes tremendous pride in his work and will make sure you are completely satisfied with the results. The scars are as perfect as they can be. I suffer from keloids and Dr. K Charles Kim has been able to produce flawless scars regardless of my condition. I trust Dr. K Charles Kim with my most valued blessings (My Mom - who is 74) and with my body. Someday, I will trust Dr. K Charles Kim to do my face as well. That is a really big deal, to trust someone with your face! I won't think twice about the surgery or the results so long as I know Dr. K Charles Kim is my Doctor. One last thing... Following my Mom's surgery, I took my Mom to an after care facility. The RN that cared for my Mom, told me she LOVES caring for Dr. K Charles Kim patients because the are always "so stable". No pain, no nausea, good vitals and considering they just had surgery...they look amazing. She also said she has seen some of Dr. K Charles Kim final results and they are just gorgeous!!! Juliette (administration) was available to us before and after the surgery - she was so helpful and responded to text messages as required to make sure I had the guidance I needed to support my Mom - also the customer service staff at the LA office couldn't have been any more pleasant and accommodating. If you are looking for a cosmetic surgeon.... Please seriously consider this amazing team of doctor's and staff!!!! You will not be disappointed. On a separate note, but just as important, I used South Coast Specialty Surgery Center to book the after care services. South Coast booked me with a 3rd party RN whose name was Sandy from Elite Recovery Care. Sandy had us go to her business home (Tustin CA) that services after surgery patients. The location was so peaceful and welcoming. It was the perfect blend of being home while knowing you were in the safe care of an RN who had all the critical care resources needed to monitor/care for a patient following surgery. Sandy was so attentive to every need of my Mom and I. Her calling was to be a nurse and she is an amazing one at that! I know it sounds weird but it felt like she was a family member caring for my Mom. Hands down....I would highly recommend Sandy for your after care. She was such a blessing! read more
