I really didn't want anything special just straight Bluetooth haha. I don't do CD's or radio. He said he knew exactly what I needed. He gave me a price over the phone and said he could get it done that day. DEAL! After my arrival I was greeted with a welcoming smile. Wow this is a tough one but it's got to be done. First off I will say that Dean and Kevin are two guys that are ok to deal with, however a suggestion for the future is its okay to turn down projects that maybe a little challenging to do. So after searching through yelp,calling,and visiting a few stereo jobs to install my 12 speaker 4 amplifier stereo system, I chose to go with South County Mobile Electronics. My choice to go with them was after a few texts, phone calls, and of course an attractive price quote that tripled in amount after all the work was done, I felt this was the shop to go with. So I pulled the trigger set the date to leave my truck to have the work done which would take 3days. During the installation process communication was good and pictures were provided. The exterior aesthetics are good, but after being frustrated with hearing the "hissing" coming through all the speakers, I pulled the radio to see if maybe something was accidentally overlooked or a wire may have worked itself loose maybe touching. What did I find behind the dash? sure disappointment. I was really let down with the quality of wiring work that was done which may explain why the "hissing" is coming through the speakers. Behind radio I also found mismatched rca cables, poorly spliced wires and cut wire on factory wiring harness even after a wiring adapter was supplied. My initial intent was not to leave this type of review for this local shop as a matter of fact i was hoping to do the opposite and leave a positive review and direct more business their way but I just don't felled comfortable doing so. In conclusion I will not be returning my vehicle to get the problems corrected but I will leave a word of advice, Dean and Kevin you guys have the great customer service piece down packed now just work on improving the quality of work you put out and the business will grow beyond what it is now. read more

I was looking for someone to install an iphone adapter in my Lexus and came across South County Mobile. Based on the reviews I used them. At first they were very friendly and the service was good. Unfortunately, the device they installed started having issues and I had to come back 5 times so they could reset the device. After complaining more they replaced it with another manufacturer. By the way they were extremely resistant to replace their poor choice and would only refund the cost of the part and not labor. It was their recommendation! They installed a new device and assured me it was bullet proof. After two weeks it stopped working and still doesn't work. Basically I paid $300 for an iphone charger. They don't stand by their products and when things go wrong, you will have a very poor experience. read more

I was a bit wary coming here because it seemed like a new place and there weren't any reviews that I could find. They claimed to have the lowest prices. I decided to give it a try! Dropped the car off around 8am and they had it ready by 10am. They figured out a way to modify the existing harness to fit the new stereo (a double DIN pioneer AVP4100 DVD head unit). They were very reasonable with their pricing. What set them over the edge was the fact that they installed the e-brake bypass switch for FREE. I didn't even ask for this even though I secretly wanted it! Now I... Erm... My passengers can enjoy movies on the long drives from Norcal to Socal! Great place and I will definitle recommend them. I called from Carlsbad to set an appointment, and they advised me they don't take appointments, just show up first come, first serve. I drove my new Cadillac CTS-V there in the rain the next day, 30 minutes before they opened to be first in line, only to be told that it would be several hours due to an appointment ahead of me. The employee took me to the "manager", and when I began to explain this to him, he just started talking over me to tell me something about the holidays...blah blah blah. Rude & unprofessional ownership caused me to walk out. Luckily I didn't punch him in his fat face. It's refreshing to have a small, family owned business that cares and does everything in their power to offer good customer service. Super friendly, great prices and they stuck to their quote. The location is convenient and well kept and they came through on time with the install I had done on my truck. My suggestion is that you do your research on what deck you want installed before you visit, then share with them what you came up with. They gave me a better deal than Best Buy was going to for the same deck. They don't have a large display showing everything that's available, but I completely understand why as they change so fast and there are so many that it's almost impossible to keep up. I bought my deck with the intention of having it connect to my Android. There was little to no instructions in the Pioneer instructions about this and unfortunately we found out after the installation that the USB2 connection is the only one that works for Androids. USB1 was connected and would have worked for an IPhone. So I took it back and they happily connected USB2 adding an additional USB cord while I waited. Great job guys and thanks! read more

Took my teenage son's first car in for a new deck/receiver as a birthday present. I was sold a JVC kd-r310. It was installed and 3 months later NOT WORKING! My son took it back in and was told "too bad, only covered under warranty for 30 days". We then found out it was a discontinued model as well! More bad news! Not cool! This was never disclosed to us ever. We've now come across other stores to replace the stereo and ALL OFFER AT LEAST A ONE YEAR WARRANTY on all their products. Seems pretty standard. Just be careful, we will never go back and will not recommend to anyone. read more

I came to this establishment 3 times, always was on time always payed in cash and always very patient based on how busy it was on the particular day. I called two days ago asking to make an appointment to put in some custom equipment, they said they were not free until today (Friday) and if i came in right at 9, which he made abundantly clear, he could "have me out at noon." I arrived a few minutes before 9 to a Lamborghini being worked on and them saying that they were busy all day on a car. They wanted me to come back tomorrow, but i'm done with this company, i believe i was the perfect customer, as an 18 year old i have to wonder if they would have treated me differently if i was older. These guys were great, I got a deck and subs put in my car and they threw in front door speakers! I picked the wrong deck, kenwood was not very user friendly for a first deck, so I brought my car in and asked to switch out decks and pay the difference, they again had no problems with it and even negotiated a price for me. South county mobile electrons won the rest of my business when they installed my second deck. When picking out my next deck I asked the difference between the sony deck and alpine deck they had, it was a little more expensive and would have made more profit, but they told me it's best to get a sony deck it was cheaper and could do everything the alpine could do, super happy with this place, will bring my friends here MUST GO!! read more

I had a system installed by Al & Ed's a few years back and recently started having a problem with my subs cutting out. Due to their proximity to my home, I decided to give South County Mobile Electronics a try for troubleshooting the issue. They tell me the amp is bad so I buy a new one from them. Subs are still cutting out and they tell me my sub pre-outs on my deck are bad so they sell me a hi/low converter and install it. They tell me I will need a new deck as well. Seems to work better but problem is still there. By now, I have to go to work so the problem is unresolved for the day. I tell my friend the story and he says it 's probably just an RCA cable. I get one and run the cable, and hook up the system without any of the things they sold me and my system works perfect. They charged me $170 for materials and labor and wanted to sell me more (a new deck). The solution to the problem was an RCA cable that was under $10! I went back to return all the products I never needed and after some struggle, they gave me a store credit for most of it. A month later, I came back to buy some 10" subs with my store credit. I bought 2 Scosche HD subs. Before installing them, I checked them out online as I wasn't familiar with that model. Everyone else (online and retail locations) was selling these speakers for $30 - $45 each. South County Mobile Electronics sold them to me for $85 each! I went back to point this out and see if they would set things right with a better set of speakers or a refund. They said they could not help me. read more

The installer assured me he could do the job without issues. The price was a little more than I expected but i went through with the install. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they completed my vehicle. The sound quality was excellent. The customer service was great and the staff was friendly and curtiuos. Well worth the money.
