We all know the main restaurants in Pawleys and have our favorites. My wife and I went away from our norm and went to the South End Bistro tonight, just south of Heuser Hardware. There is plenty of parking in front. They have indoor emanating with a bar but they also have covered outdoor seating with an outside bar and live music most nights. They have shrimp and crab entrees, burgers, cheesesteaks, pizzas and GFree pizzas. We had a regular and a GFree pizza and they were both excellent and reasonably priced. Patrick was our server and was very attentive. We will definitely go back. read more

I needed to feed my hungry husband early. La Familia was closed, Landolfi's was not accepting orders until after 5pm and South End Bistro was pretty much the only close option. I can only comment on the carry out pizza, but yum! I loved everything about it. I am looking forward to forward to trying the rest of the menu! read more

5 Stars - New Favorite Spot in Pawleys! We searched Google for live music and ended up striking gold with South End Bistro. Sat outside at the bar, had a front-row seat to a killer acoustic set (guy opened with Goin' to California--not an easy tune to pull off, but he nailed it), and ended up having one of the best nights of our trip. Food? Off the hook. We split a pizza and a Greek salad with blackened chicken--both were on point. But the desserts... oh man. The chocolate cake was rich and decadent, and the bignets were absolutely ridiculous. Not kidding, there were like 15 of them--fresh, hot, and impossible to stop eating. Taylor, the bartender/server/owner, is 31 and running this place with her boyfriend. They've owned it for 5 years and are absolutely crushing it. She was friendly, down-to-earth, and just fun to talk to. Awesome to see a young couple out here getting it done. You can feel the heart they've put into this place. We will definitely be back on our next visit. Great food, great people, great vibe. Go have a great time and support the American dream--South End Bistro is the real deal. read more

It's a perfect place to relax and enjoy great food ,With a very courteous attentive staff!

This "hidden" little Jem is absolutely incredible. I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes. We started off with the candied bacon, mac and cheese and omg it was insane. Super cheesy and the bacon and sweetness was incredible. Definitely recommend. My wife had the shrimp scampi over bow tie while I had the shrimp and chicken over bow tie and both were excellent. But the best came last. We ordered the beignets even though we didn't finish our meal. This was my first time having beignets and I cannot believe that I haven't had them before. To find something that tastes so good from Louisiana in South Carolina is incredible. I would go to this restaurant just for these absolutely insanely delicious A couple across from us we're eating calzones which were massive. That will definitely be on the list for the next time. The white pizza is delicious - especially the fresh mozzarella. The live music was a little bit too loud for my 20-year-old and 19-year-old sons but I liked it! I'll definitely be back to try other items on menu. read more

The staff was good, but overworked. The bar was slow, I received my cocktail 10 minutes before my wife. The outside seating was fun, not great. We ordered a small pizza. Crust had no taste and a bit 'tough', the sauce had 'can' taste, veggies and meats were fine. Was quite disappointing, and give this place a 2/5 stars, likely my lowest score yet. I'm glad we were recommended this place to try! Our server was so sweet and attentive. The outside area is so nice, it feels like you are in a cute garden eating dinner. The live music was a nice touch, not too loud that you couldn't have conversations which was great but it created a really nice atmosphere. The food was really good too! We started with the mac & cheese appetizer and it was probably our favorite thing! We want to come back to try the pizza because they looked great coming out to other tables. This feels like a hidden gem. We were here from out of town (as I feel like a lot of people are). Oddly enough this did not come up in any of my searches for pizza. It wasn't until we were trying to go to a nearby restaurant that was closed that we stumbled upon this spot. I wish I had thought to take pictures because OMG! We had a Greek salad, buffalo chicken pizza, hawiian pizza, and a kids pizza (half cheese and pepperoni). I'm pretty picky and we had no negative remarks, it was all perfect! This place has potential, but is in need of fine-tuning. The dining room is nicely decorated, but the music playing didn't match the atmosphere (pop music??) and had commercials! Every time someone sat down or stood up from their chairs, a horrible, loud scraping noise echoed through the dining room. This is an easy fix! Please fix it! Food was hit and miss. The pizza are huge, delicious and worth a carry out order. The bun on the Philly Sandwich was too large for the small portion of cheese and meat. The fries were delicious. Kids Mac and Cheese was $8...bland, soupy and had no sides. Rip off! Caesar salad was fine, could easily be improved. My eggplant rotini was delivered room temperature; we had already waited about 40 minutes for our food and the server never came back to check on us. I was finally able to waive another employee down. They took my plate and TEN MINUTES later, my plate was brought back to me. Nothing offered, no awareness or acknowledgment of the very long wait. There were 6 tables total in the restaurant and 3 servers. No excuse! The service was bothersome. I've been a server and it's a pretty simple job; when the easiest parts of service are missing it's very annoying. Our server was unorganized, confused and unhygienic. He was wiping and rubbing his nose while talking to us then used his hands to pour water and touch our glasses. Everything took a long time and I had to flag him down repeatedly for drinks, our bill and to have him take my credit card. The outdoor area was lovely and the bluegrass band was great. this is my 4 th time at this restaurant. the ambiance outside with live music is an inviting touch. the food is delicious and hot. the servers always friendly except this night, brought my husband for his first visit. we were not impressed. no hostess at desk, i went to bar to find a person, bartender told us to sit wherever we wanted. we saw 2 people running between bar, tables and kitchen. they remained calm but frustrating for patrons as the wait and personal attention suffered. if this was my first time at this restaurant, it would be my last. read more

I would not come here again. I was highly dissatisfied with my food. The other guests in my party liked their food though, just dissatisfied with mine and the fact there aren't many vegetarian options. We are here about a month ago. The food was pretty good. We sat outside and thought that area was very attractive. It was crowded and they had a pretty good jazz duo but the speakers were so loud that it hurt my ears and you could not even hear at our table to talk at all. While the music was good the volume made it a less than favorable experience for dinner. We were not sitting that close to the music it or speakers either. read more

We went for the first time on a chilly evening and had a great experience. You can dine inside or out depending on your COVID comfort level. We dined out - ample outdoor heaters, great outdoor music and excellent service. The menu is reasonably priced and has a wide variety of dishes. Support your locals!! Highly recommend! ! read more
