Gios is a great spot if you're in the mood for good pizza and a fun night out. The pizzas are delicious, the drinks are solid, and the service was attentive. One thing to know going in: it's pretty easy to spend more than you expect. The pizzas are a little bigger than personal pizzas, so if you order a couple of pies and drinks, the bill can climb quickly. That said, the happy hour specials help a lot and if you time it right, you can sample a few different pizzas, enjoy a couple of happy hour drinks, and still keep the tab reasonable. We came here tonight, Friday, the restaurant does not take reservations, so we were greeted by a server, Bella S., who then turned to someone else and said, "are you seating them?" A young man seated us, then the same server who almost seated us was our server. We ordered the prosciutto and melon and the burrata salad, both were good. I ordered the Mediterranean pizza it was good, My wife ordered the ensalata pizza with a drizzle of balsamic glaze, it was covered in the glaze, she told our server she do not care for it, the server made a snarky face, no apology, my wife ordered the buffalo chicken pizza instead. We then noticed our server had tables all over the restaurant, then she never came over to offer my wife a second drink or ask how the buffalo pizza was. When she finally saw my wife get her attention, we explained we are not looking for a free pizza, but the first pizza was poorly described. Again, no apology and we were charged for the first pizza. There was absolutely no management presence, very disorganized restaurant, $150 before tip for two apps, four drinks and pizza, is a bit steep. We often go to Gio's in Pawley's Island, much better experience for around the same money, better menu and quality. We will not be back to Gio's Pizzeria after this experience. read more

Do not trust this establishment. My wife and I went for dinner and drinks, I ordered a Peroni, she ordered a Berringer and an appetizer. The bartender blocked the view of the pour of the wine, but she didnt think it was a Berringer. We ordered a pizza and another drink. He went to the back came back with a bottle fidgetted and the fridge. When he gave her the wine I asked for the bottle and he handed me an unopened Berringer bottle. We asked what he poured and he said well were shifting wine lists and the wine he poured was cheaper. I then asked to see a bill for what he charged us for, which we never got. He comped the wine and my last beer, but it appeared they are scamming what they are selling. The food was okay, but needless to say we will never be back, both the manager (who likely was driving this) and the bartender should be fired. read more

Meatballs came with toasted bread- everything had great flavor and honestly- quite filling. Hubby ordered a meatlovers individual pizza and honestly- it looked like enough to feed 2 people! This location focuses on pizza and it's phenomenal! Don't be fooled- this location is different than the one in Pawleys Island which is more of a full fledge Italian restaurant. The word "Napoletana" is Italian for Neapolitan. When it comes to pizza, this word has a totally different meaning, and that is true here at Gios. Neapolitan pizzas are made with 00 flour, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, buffalo or cow's milk. & basil. That is not the pizza you will find here at Gios. If you are looking for that type of pizza, this is not the place. Neapolitan pizzas are baked in a special dome-shaped wood oven at 850 degrees for 60-90 seconds. Because the bake time is so fast, the end result is a very moist/wet- and never crispy crust, a pizza that you eat with a fork and knife. Not a slice you pickup and eat by hand. The Neapolitan pizza is also a significantly airier/puffier crust with a characteristic spotty charring referred to as 'leoparding.' The pizza here at Gios is baked in an electric one and is a pizza that has a heavier dough that can easily be picked up and eaten by hand. If this is your preference for pizza, this may be a good spot to try. The service was great (thanks Jess) and the atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Atmosphere was clean, casual and spacious. Service was good. Pizza was some of the best I've ever had! Great ingredients, great combination of flavors. I ordered the Insalata pizza with healthy skepticism about greenery on pizza, but I had a need for greens. It was perfectly cooked and arrived hot and SO flavorful; it made me want to add gorgonzola to everything. I ate the entire "personal" (10") pizza. The other one had the Prosciutto di Parma pizza and raved about the flavor as well. This pizza is one I'll crave and miss. read more

The Ambiance was nice if I had to rate it would be a 3 star. The service at the bar was great. I've been a bartender for 30 years and the only two recommendations I would recommend is that the bartender introduces himself and ask the guest their name, create a more professional experience. Also, when making any drink in the martini shaker it's better to "powers shake" which dilutes the drink less. Witnessed several times a slow prolonged shake which melts more ice therefore diluting the drink and making it watered down. Only time you do that is when less liquor is used and the more liquid shows a bigger drink still tasting diluted. Now to the food! The prices are outrageous! $18 for a meatball sub? Side pasta for $8 with chicken (I believe was another $8) non-alcoholic IPA for $6? Prices are way wrong. We live in a tourist town and as a local we should be offered discounts. My bill was $50 and that's pricey. Yes the food was good but this is Charleston or Northern VA where I'm from and this places are both pricey. As a local and a Rideshare driver who would recommend this place but also let them know it's pricey. My experience was great but the prices won't bring me back. read more

My wife and I go here every few weeks since moving to the area. It reminds us so much of the pizza we had in Florence, Italy! The food is great, very traditional, very demure! The drinks and service are always on point! It is definitely our favorite pizza place in the Grand Strand. Pizza was fine, however as it stands right now. I have been charged over $101 for a single/ personal pizza and a glass of wine and got attitude from the server because I had the audacity to complain and say this is wrong. I was told it was voided but as of yet have not seen the void appear on my card. My charge should have been $27. When I pointed out the mistake to the server, she got very defensive and rolled her eyes. The manager did not come to our table and apologize, the charge is still on my card and I am pretty sure they lost a customer forever. read more

I love a good pizza and I believe all the components are essential to a great pie. The crust was decent but I did not love the sauce. I also like a mixture of various cheeses (Asiago, mozzarella, etc). It was a decent pizza but I was really hoping for a thin crust New York style pie. This was okay. Ordered a pizza to go. Thought it was a large. Apparently I ordered a personal size. It was $25......for a personal pizza. I had to buy 2 of them to feed my family of 4. $50 for pizza. It was good but no pizza is worth $50. Won't be going back there that's for sure read more
