OverCharges!! These people charged me $220 to have 2 skirts hemmed, and 1 pair of pants dry cleaned. Total rip off!!

South Hill Cleaners to the rescue!! I needed 25 large white tablecloths and 22 red table runners cleaned and pressed before a Saturday event. I cold called many cleaners in the area, including (*cough*) Blue Wave Cleaners who said they were the "top, biggest dry cleaner in Pierce County" - and who's rep told me not only could they not handle this job at the end of the week, NO other cleaner could. Well, they were wrong! South Hill is my new favorite place with wonderful customer service. They took on my large job, which was for an event, and did a beautiful job. I picked up the items and they even helped me out to my car. I would recommend this cleaners to anyone - very clean store, efficient, and super friendly people. This location is in the Fred Meyer parking lot, on the corner with Baskin Robbins. You can even pull right up on the curb if you have a large job like mine! :) read more

The only thing I ever use the cleaners for is for my duvet. A king sized down duvet that would not fit in any regular wash and wouldn't want to anyway since it was so expensive and requires dry cleaning. I had a hugeeeeee stain on my comforter and they were able to take it out and got it brand new again. This is about $50 service to wash king duvet. read more

They altered a dress for my sons wedding and ruined it! They refunded my money after returning several times to show them how poorly it was altered and they gave me my alterations done money back but after going here for over 15 years they told me to not return because they lost money on the alterations. They ruined a $175.00 dress, and then told me I was no longer a welcomed customer at their dry cleaners. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ALTERATIONS!! Wish there was an option for less then one star, I am only giving the one star because you have to, to leave a review. If I could I would give them minus 5 stars I would! I dropped off a dress to be hemmed. When I went to pick it up she asked me if anyone had called me to go over the price with me, they had not. I am five feet tall and have to have everything hemmed. I have never paid more than $40 for anything. She then informed me that it was going to cost $131 for the hem! The dress made from a bolt of fabric brand new was $94. I was told to come back and speak to the owner. When I did she acted as though she was already doing me a huge favor as she normally charges $150. I WOULD HAVE NEVER AUTHORIZED THIS WORK HAD I BEEN AWARE OF THE COST! On what planet does it cost more to hem a dress then it did to construct it in the first place?!! After a bunch of heated discussion and back and forth and me explaining to her, the seamstress likely is making $20 an hour and as someone who sews this was a 20minute job, tops. She said if I ever wanted to see my dress again she could give it to me for $87!! Practically the cost of the dress brand new!!! My girlfriend had four similar items hemmed in Kent for $97.00! I will NEVER give these people my business again. It would have been so simple for them to even meet me half way both of us lesson learned. Instead, they held my dress hostage. It should be illegal to not post your fees or communicate that with the customer prior to doing the work. I have had other alterations done here that were perfectly reasonable so I had zero warning for this! After reading other reviews this seems to be a theme. read more

Took my formal dress here for dry cleaning. Was told it would be ready after 5pm came after 5 pm and my dress wasn't ready. I was told that they are working on it and should be done in 5 mins. I just realized after taking my dress out to get ready for my ball I had a huge rip on the bottom which is really hard to notice as the dress balloons out. Didn't have time to take it back to them as the ball is today and had to find a seamstress to fix it. Do not trust them with your expensive items. Worst part of all they didn't even say anything. They could of least said something and not charge for the cleaning and since they are an alterations place offer to fix. But nope they made me leave knowing that the messed my dress up. They are not worthy of any stars. read more

I used to use this dry cleaner over a decade ago, and they did an okay job, so when I moved back into the area I figured I'd go back to them. Big mistake. I always request heavy starch and to have my sleeves creased. When I picked them up they were not heavy starched, they claimed my 100% cotton dress shirts don't hold starch well, nor were my sleeves creased. They look like they've been ironed, not pressed. They didn't even offer to discount the shirts since I paid for extra starch. I'll go elsewhere for my weekly dry cleaning, even if it's out of my way. read more

Came in one last time to get my shirt. They insisted there was a miscount. When I said I watched you count them she offered credit. Well why would I take credit to continue to bring my clothes here. Then they offered that I buy a new shirt and bring in the receipt and they will pay for it. By this point I'm beyond frustrated and I would rather take the loss then go through anymore hassle. I needed a replacement zipper in my expensive coat, and needed it quickly. I dropped my coat off on Saturday, and was able to pick it up Monday even with our big snow event. My coat zipper was replaced BEAUTIFULLY! you would never be able to tell it was a replacement. I'm beyond impressed with their speed, quality, and price! I paid $41 with tax which is far cheaper than replacing the coat, and cheaper than other repair places. HIGHLY recommend this place. Very friendly staff, fast work, quality work, and reasonable prices! You won't be disappointed here. read more

I would not recommend this cleaners for alterations. I took a dress in to be hemmed it was not done properly. They said they would redo it and when I got it back one side of the outer skirt of the dress was was noticeably higher than the underskirt and so once again it would have had to be done again. This time the dress would have been so short it will be un weareable. I asked for my money back and they refused. I paid $43 only to have a dress ruined. read more

First let me say, I chose this dry cleaner solely because of proximity to my home... never again will I choose a business for such a reason. I was under a month before my wedding day and wanted my dress pressed. I had bought my dress brand new about 6 months prior. From the day I brought it home to the day I brought it to the dry cleaner the dress had come out of the protective plastic twice. The day I went to pick up my dress from the dry cleaner (for just a simple pressing) three new stains on the bodice! I was upset but collected, accidents happen. When I brought it to the attention of the young lady behind the counter, she said they were already there... (A little history: this was an area of the dress I was already watching hoping the pressing would correct the little bit of thread you could see holding the pleat, so I know for a fact there were not already stains in that area.) When I explained that to the young lady she requested the presence of her manager. After the stains were pointed out to the manager she immediately said that there was a pin there... a pin?! I don't have any accessories for my dress. After I explained it couldn't be pin holes, she said that the stains were already there... At this point I'm getting upset, but still collected, not flying off the handle like I wanted to so terrible bad. I'm sure they could see the frustration on my face, and asked me when I needed my dress (now realizing that the dress hadn't been worn yet and that I still needed my dress for my wedding less than a month away). Three days later I went back to get my dress, hoping they were able to fix their mistake (which they were still denying was their fault). My dress was brought out from the back and still three stains remained. Not only did they stain my brand new wedding dress, they refused to take responsibility for their mistake, and they still charged me $64 for the pressing (not even a discount for what they had done). I worked in retail for ten years. No matter what the situation the customer is always right. If they had apologized and still couldn't get the stains out I would have been happier then I am now. Not only do they still deny responsibility, but I still paid full price for the terrible experience. read more

I will never use this dry cleaners again! Came in a week ago to have a dress altered. While the lady was putting pins in the dress she just kept saying "so much work." She called me a few days later quoting me $175 for alterations. Decided to have less altered and asked how much just the lining would cost because it was too long. I was told that the dress wouldn't look good. That's when I decided just to have the bust taken in on both sides. I expected them to open the dress up, remove the excess material and sew the dress back together. Nope, instead they bunched the excess over to the side and sewed so now on both sides under the arms there is bulges when she puts the dress on! I've been standing here for 30 mins waiting for the alterations lady to show as now I'm being charged for two alterations as I only had one done and can see the only one spot altered. I was told she was to be here at 5:00 and now its 5:28. This seems to be a problem as when I first came in to start the process she was also late then too! At 5:08 a sign got posted "be back in 5 mins." I've watched three other customers walk up to either get their garments or drop off. Still waiting for 5 mins to be over. It's been a half hour! I have been coming here for roughly a decade and have had no issues. I will tell you that they will write you name, in pen, on the inside of your shirt unless you specifically ask them not to - each time you visit. On my most recent visit, I noticed one of my custom made to measure shirts had a button that crumbled upon touching it when I took the plastic off. Fortunately, there was no damage to the shirt itself. I brought it back within a few hours and pointed it out. There was a spare button attached to the tag inside the shirt and they had it restitched within 20 minutes. Not a bad turn around time. I did not complain, or ask for a refund. A $3 refund (or whatever it is) isn't going to make a difference if my $149 shirt is ruined, which thankfully it wasn't. I'll keep coming back. read more
