    Cinnamon roll
    Jennifer L.

This is my go-to place for cinnamom rolls and biscuits. It is right in the middle of everything so you can walk off all the calories afterwards. The place is cozy and inviting. Our waiter, Jonathan B, was amazing. He told us about the daily happy hour which will have to come back and check out. He was so nice and checked on us regularly. The cinnamon roll was so good! It's big enough to share and the center is still ooey-gooey deliciousness. There is a perfect balance of icing so it doesn't overpower the roll itself. The Standard biscuit is delicious. The biscuit is soft and great proportions between all the substances. The is a great choice for breakfast/brunch!

The ambience is classy, sexy. A great date night spot. The bartenders were cool and made excellent drinks. My lobster pie was a first for me and it was very good. The brussel sprouts were delicious.

If you have not experienced happy hour at Fixe Austin's Southern House, you are truly missing out. From the moment you sit down, there is an inviting energy that feels warm, lively, and genuinely welcoming. The drinks are no joke. They are strong in the best possible way, but still smooth and thoughtfully balanced. You can tell they are made with care. That first sip makes you pause for a second because it is just that good. It feels generous, not watered down, and absolutely worth it. And the pimento cheese with focaccia bread? Wow. It is creamy, rich, and full of flavor with a little spicy kick that builds as you eat. It is not overwhelming, just enough heat to keep you going back for more. The focaccia is soft on the inside with a slight crisp on the outside, and it holds that pimento cheese perfectly. Every bite is comforting and indulgent, the kind of appetizer you end up talking about the next day. Between the atmosphere, the seriously good cocktails, and that unforgettable pimento cheese, this happy hour stands out in the best way. It feels special without trying too hard. I am already planning my next visit. Easily a ten out of ten experience.

It was my birthday and my family thought this would be a fun place to celebrate it. Per usual this place is super cute quirky and just the right level comfortable and the staff is warm and inviting. I gotta tell you one of the highlights of this visit was the fact that our waiter was so well acquainted with the menu. It was greatly appreciated. Because he was so well acquainted with the menu, he was able to assist us in making the proper decisions that resulted in everyone enjoying their food thoroughly. My husband told me he likes this restaurant 100 times more and can't wait to return. We started off with smoked salmon, dip, deviled eggs, and of course the biscuits. 10 out of 10 will 100% order that again everyone loved what they got. As with every good southern restaurant, they had excellent tea. I got the iced hibiscus berry. My daughter got the iced hibiscus and mint, great presentation. Delicious taste. We moved onto the main course I ordered the pork chops. I substituted brussels sprouts and skipped the collard greens decided on a beet salad for my vegetable. My daughter got the fried chicken and a Caesar salad. My husband went with fish with a side of broccolini. He had the salmon and said more than once it was cooked to perfection and was really delicious. He also stated he would come back and order that once again. Something to keep in mind our last visit a few years back my husband didn't like it and thought what he ordered was too spicy. This time around, we had an excellent waiter that gave us so many details about the food that we were able to tailor what we were ordering to our taste. Where are we going? Everyone enjoyed what they got. We can't wait to come back. It made for an excellent dining experience. I think the waiter's name was Preston. I'm not sure.... Nevertheless he was delightful.

    Fried green tomatoes

The food was great! We had the fried green tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, potato beignets, and Fixe biscuits. The fried green tomatoes and Brussels sprouts were both good, but not something I would go out of my way to get again. The potato beignets and biscuits on the other hand were fantastic. The biscuits were hot and moist, and the potato beignets had a great texture in addition to great flavor. The ambiance is nice, moody and southern vibes. We came in on Friday evening and it wasn't very busy, but there didn't seem to be anyone at the host stand. A waiter came by and told us someone would come by in a few minutes but we waited about 10 minutes before being sat. Totally fine to wait, I was just confused about no one being at the host stand. It seems like their wait staff is responsible for seating people too which could certainly cause problems on a busier night. Our waiter was very kind and offered good recommendations. We would come back here for sure!

Visiting Austin and wanted to be sure and have a real NICE dinner and we chose right with Fixe! Went for happy hour and stayed for dinner. Our server John was awesome, so nice and interesting to talk to, but have I talked about the food yet? We had a pulled pork sandwich from the HH menu, shrimp and grits from the dinner menu and pecan pie for dessert. All of the food was great, but the shrimp and grits were fabulous. I might never be in Austin again but I'll never forget those grits. The room is beautiful, highly recommended for a nice dinner. So damn good!

The biscuits here are legendary. And probably the hottest biscuits fresh out of the oven I've ever had. Fresh, flakey and they have that homemade taste and texture. Awesome biscuits. Top 5 in my lifetime for sure. Service was very kind and genuine. Shrimp and grits was not traditional. Decent but would not be everyone's cup of tea. Brussel sprouts were also solid. Overall, the biscuits alone are worth a visit.

Came here for a fancy dinner with friends to celebrate 2 birthdays. The atmosphere and decor was very modern, sleek, with low lighting to set the mood. They had great staff from the hostess that greets you, to the wait staff at the table. They have a full selection of cocktails choices, along with a full bar. They have great menu items, ranging from steak to seafood. While the entrée menu items looked fantastic, our group decided to split a range of appetizers and side dishes. The side dishes are family style, where they serve more than one person. We had the deviled eggs, the brussels sprouts, they fried potatoes, and their crab dip. Everything was phenomenal and just the right amount of food for all of us to try many things on the menu. My favorite had to be their potatoes. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and came with a great dipping sauce that really complimented the potato. Everything we ordered was presented so beautifully and was so tasty! It was definitely a picture fail moment, as I only snapped a picture of the first order that arrived, as I was too busy eating the delectable food in front of me! (Not a bad problem to have- lol) Our waitress also came by with a super sweet card for our birthday, signed by many of the staff members. What a great way to celebrate our special day! If you were looking for a high class, dining experience, with great staff, and to have a memorable evening - this is the place!

Walking into Fixe on Valentine's night without a reservation could have gone sideways, but the staff handled it with genuine Southern hospitality and made us feel like regulars. Huge kudos to the team for being so accommodating on one of the busiest nights of the year. We started at the bar with cocktails that were balanced, thoughtful, and set the tone for the evening. The food? Every dish delivered. The deviled eggs were a refined, next-level version of the classic -- creamy, flavorful, and gone in seconds. The Brussels sprouts had that perfect combination of char, texture, and seasoning that makes you forget you're eating vegetables. The double-cut pork chop was the definition of properly executed -- juicy, perfectly cooked to medium, and packed with flavor. But the true showstopper -- and the reason I'll be back -- is the made-to-order biscuits. Warm, buttery, layered, and served fresh from the oven. Absolute perfection and worth the visit alone. A memorable Valentine's dinner thanks to incredible service and a kitchen that clearly cares about every plate.

    Lobster & Crawfish Pot Pie
    Alexander Y.

Another thing I neglected last time I was in Austin was that I should probably try actual Southern food. Fixe Southern House's chef hails from Louisiana, and I could definitely see the influence. Ordered the Pimento Cheese, Smoked Trout Dip, Shrimp & Grits, and Lobster & Crawfish Pot Pie. My favorite was definitely the Lobster & Crawfish Pot Pie, it was loaded with lobster and crawfish! And honestly, who doesn't love a good pot pie? Shrimp & Grits were a bit interesting, as it definitely didn't taste how I would have expected. That was probably due to to the sweet corn chow chow, which gave it a sweeter flavor than I preferred. Still good, but I prefer my shrimp and grits to be savory not sweet. Smoked Trout Dip was a safe pick. And obviously, when I see Pimento Cheese on the menu, I need to get it! Service here was great, no complaints whatsoever. We were seated in a nice area near the window and were well taken care of all night. Really good food here, worth coming for a visit.

Another successful corporate dinner last Thursday! We started at the bar while waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The bartender was amazing, very friendly, knowledgeable , and easy in the eyes lol! They can make just about every drink you can think of. The lights were dim and candles were lit everywhere. Once everyone was there, we were promptly seated. The waitress immediately asked if we wanted more drinks and then later took out orders. We had various appetizers. Potato Beignets with a spicy ranch sauce. They were fried to perfection and the sauce was amazing. We also had Deviled eggs that were creamy and delicious. The biscuits were soft and buttery and came with a variety of spreads. We also had the trout dip but that is not pictured. It was smoothy and creamy and paired well with the dark chips they served with it. I had the fried chicken with slaw as my main. The chicken was crispy with a sweet and slight spiciness to it. The inside was very juicy. The slaw was crunchy and very flavorful. I took some of the leftover spicy ranch sauce and added that to the chicken. It was a knockout combination. I ordered the blackberry cobbler for dessert to go. I didn't eat any of it until the next day. IT WAS AMAZING!!! Not too sweet but had a nice natural blackberry flavor and granola crumbles. I love it. Overall this restaurant turned out to be an excellent choice!!

    Bacon and crab dip
    Katie M.

Had a great dinner at Fixe Southern to celebrate our engagement. We started with the bacon crab dip (tasty, but not enough crackers--and the extras I asked for never came) and the biscuits, which are a must. For mains, the lobster & crawfish pot pie was good, but the fried chicken was incredible--crispy, juicy, and the best thing we had all night. We finished with a delicious blackberry crumble and were surprised with complimentary champagne when our waitress found out we were celebrating.

Do you need a reservation for happy hour on a Friday? Or is first come first serve for happy hour?

    First come first serve!

    What are the parking options?

There's valet for $10 in front of the restaurant or metered street parking. I also saw a small paid lot down the street.

    Dressy or casual?

In between! Definitely look nice but not a black tie affair

Parking was a little hard to come by in the neighborhood, but not impossible. I ended up waiting a little over 1.5 hrs after checking in with the hostess and we were able to snag the very last plate of paella! I've had my fair share of paella and I'm in no way a paella snob, but this one missed the mark for me. 1) the portion did not reflect the $34 price tag. 2) portions of the rice were undercooked and very hard. 3) it was way too salty. It did come with a mix of mussels, clams, shrimp, and sausage, with a side of toast, but I can't justify this part of the experience. We also ordered calamari and croquetas. The croqueta was delicious and flavorful, but the calamari didn't stand out. It tastes like any other calamari. The ambiance itself is cute and the service was great, but the food was lacking.

Wow! What an incredible experience at Sixty Vines in The Domain!…read more We made our reservation through OpenTable and mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. When we arrived at our table, we were surprised with a handwritten Happy Anniversary postcard and a beautifully presented gift--such a thoughtful touch that immediately made the evening feel special. Our server, Polina, was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to learn what styles of wine we enjoy and brought us a few samples before helping us choose an amazing wine flight. Her recommendations were spot-on! We also enjoyed a custom charcuterie board and the prosciutto & fig pizza, both of which were outstanding. To top it all off, Andrew, the manager, stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect. We loved learning about Sixty Vines' unique wine-on-tap program and appreciated their commitment to sustainability, including composting food scraps. (They didn't have much to compost from our table--maybe a bite or two of pizza crust! ) The only disappointing part of the evening was that we had tickets to a show and couldn't stay longer to explore more of their incredible wine selection. That's just another reason we'll definitely be back!

Very Disappointing Experience…read more I was really looking forward to The Golden Girls pop-up at Wanderlust Wine Company. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like what I had seen from the pop-ups in other cities. The biggest disappointment was how little there actually was to the experience. The kitchen table wasn't even there. The girls famously gathered around that table eating cheesecake. Blanche's bedroom was completely outside in a completely different building, which made the whole setup feel disconnected. Even the wall phone, which was supposed to have the girls talking did not provide the experience I had seen from Instagram reels from other cities. Then came the cocktails. At $16 each, I expected them to at least be made correctly. My Blanche Devereaux cocktail was made with club soda instead of Sprite. Club soda tastes like Alka-Seltzer. I had to ask for a different drink. The second cocktail, The Dorothy, was made with Prosecco and unfortunately wasn't good either. Even the one lady sitting at this isolated bar with me said her drink was bad too. They double charged me. Which is another major issue. My ticket was $23.34 including taxes and fees and the complimentary drink was supposed to be included, with only a one-cent charge when I arrived. Instead, I was charged an additional $23.08, including $11.54 for the drink that was supposed to be included in the ticket price. Is there an explanation? Will this be corrected? My credit card company has already been notified. But what a hassle I have to go through. Just scan my QR code, and don't charge me .01 cent. I paid my ticket and "free" drink. Also as a solo guest, I was also extremely uncomfortable with where I was seated. I was placed away from everyone else at a very narrow bar along the wall, completely isolated from the rest of the group. Honestly, it felt like being sent to the kids' table at Thanksgiving--off in another room away from the adults. It was humiliating and made an already disappointing experience even worse. The entire experience amounted to roughly 15 minutes of taking a few pictures, drinking a poorly made cocktail, and leaving. For what I paid and what was advertised, I expected something much more immersive and fun. I couldn't wait to leave. Thank God I didn't pay for parking. I'm extremely disappointed. I went in excited to celebrate one of my favorite shows and left feeling like I had wasted my time and money. Based on this experience, I would not return to Wanderlust Wine Company.

Rosé Gosé (note accents) is in an unassuming Airport Blvd location (right next to Jewboy Burgers, an Austin favorite). It is run by a couple from Belarus that came here right after Covid to open up a restaurant, with a sister in Minsk. Defying expectations, the menu is not Balkan at all. If anything, there is a strong Asian influence with poke bowls and a lot of seafood. But the menu also offers beef tartare on their raw bar menu, as well as a steak offering and grilled chicken. It's a diverse and adventurous menu, all the way from small plates to hefty mains and vegetable sides. For the dessert, try the pavlova, a meringue confection stuffed with coconut mousse and topped with lime sorbet and a grapefruit slice sidecar. Everything is superbly presented, and unquestionably fresh and healthy without veering into twigs and berries territory. The cocktail menu is also playful, with a lot of nontraditional glassware and slight spins on popular drinks; their version of a Paloma uses prosecco instead of a splash of soda. The servers are all dressed in rosé jumpsuits and very attentive. The space is amiable and elegant without being pretentious. The table spacing is a little close, so that conversations carry between guests. The table setting has some nice touches, like the little wooden bench that holds your fork and knife off the table. In European fashion, water can be asked for but it won't be served with ice. Plan on taking your time and enjoying course after course.

Rosé Gosé was a delightful Mother's Day lunch spot. It is a whole vibe, and it is uniquely French! When we walked in an artist was playing romantic music on his keyboard, which set the tone for the brunch. It is a small restaurant inside with a larger area of seating on the patio. Of course, our reservations were inside in the comforts of air conditioning. You immediately notice a wine wall hence the name Rosé Gosé. The restaurant has many windows which provide lots of natural light. The tables house miniature yellow roses and utensils sat in a small wooden block...very French. All the servers were dressed in mauve clothing that resemble scrubs from a hospital. If someone stepped out in a French beret, I would have fallen over. Our server, Sergey, immediately served us water and took our order. The restaurant was highlighted as a modern European bistro. The atmosphere was charming, elegant, and stylish making it ideal for a Mother's Day brunch. My hubby ordered a ribeye, eggs and French Fries. I ordered the avocado toast with salmon and egg whites. While I'm not a huge red meat eater, I tasted a piece of the hubs ribeye and it was nicely prepared. My avocado toast was yummy to the nth degree! Everything was perfect. The avocado was precisely cut and at the right level of softness. The salmon was chopped into tiny little squares and so enjoyable to eat. We could not be more pleased. With a name like Rosé Gosé you would expect their drinks to be superb. My hubby ordered a hibiscus tea, which was delightful. I ordered a mimosa that had high quality ingredients and was perfectly balanced...so smooth. We were also pleased with the drinks. This was the first time at Rosé Gosé, however, it definitely will not be the last.
