Since the previous review about our experience was brought to my attention, I thought I would leave one too :) We were there this past Saturday we walked in and there was a table, no chairs. My husband walked from table to table asking for chairs. Customers offered up 4 chairs, our friend sat at the bar. We were served our drinks right away from George, the owner (great guy) we placed our food order and our food took FOREVER, understandable, they were busy. We were patient. Our friends came out completely wrong. He ate it. Then my husband's never came out. He went back into the kitchen and asked about it. They made it, the cheese wasn't even melted. The burger just fell apart... he told George (because Mckenzie, the waitress never came back around) he said no big deal he would comp the meal. Once again, we understood. Our kids had been done eating. They were getting stir crazy at this point, playing music on the jukebox and socializing with the locals. Remind you, this is our hometown, my kids are used to being there for dinner. People around our parts are friendly, no one cared. At one point my 3 year old asked the man next to the jukebox for money lol. I immediately told him that was not acceptable, the couple laughed. It was funny, right? US normal people would think so. I went up to pay the bill in the store, George had to run my card 3 times because he kept messing up, once again I was patient. I get it. No problem. Well, my kids were patient too. Just waiting for us to leave. Judy came out of the kitchen at this time yelling at her daughter, Mckenzie calling her a "fing b", the older woman behind me with her 2 young grand daughters said "wow I cannot wait to get out of here!" My 6 year old was standing in the door way. Judy (Georges wife) pushed my son out of the way and said "yeah that's right, go back to your parents" as he ran for his dad. I didn't say anything. My son went back to the table. I walked up to him and said let's go, he broke down and started crying and told me that he got in trouble and he wasn't sure what he did. I told him that I saw it and he didn't have to cry, she was just an angry person (she is) we stood up and Judy came right up and pushed the chairs in, my son wasn't even up yet, his foot was still in the chair. She slammed it into the table, twice. My poor son is looking at me like "help" I turned around, grabbed my son and said " you don't have to do that! He was just crying for what you did to him earlier! Just stop" she said " I TRIPPED!" Yelling, I never raised my voice at her. I continued to walk out. She chased me down yelling "EXCUSE ME!!! DON'T YOU ACCUSE ME OF PUSHING YOUR KID YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO WATCH YOUR KIDS!!!!" I told her that I do watch my kids and that I saw the entire thing! She said "LEARN HOW TO WATCH YOUR KIDS!!" Anyone that knows me, knows that I am very protective over my children and I expect them to be respectful and I would have carried them right out of there if I thought they weren't. As I was walking out George looked at me and said "I am so sorry" her and her daughter were yelling at me to learn how to watch my kids. I told my husband who was in the truck with my 3 year old, he went in there. Calm. Said that she didn't need to act the way she did. She was yelling back at him. We left. I would never, ever recommend this establishment to anyone. That woman and her daughter do not know how to treat anyone, even kids. I have shared this story over the last 2 days and I cannot believe the amount of people that have had the same experience with her. She is a disgrace to small business owners. Please venture to Eagle Inn if you plan on eating in this area, food and service will be much better, promise. And thank you to the person whom posted the other review about this, I appreciate you. I remember a time when South Riley was the place to go. Now it is a place to avoid. We used to frequent this bar quite often for the amazing food and laid back atmosphere. We have been going less and less because of the rude "bartender" and less than stellar food. This weekend was the final time we will walk through the doors at South Riley. We witnessed the owner be extremely rude to a small child and family and most other bar patrons. It became so bad the child was in tears. You would think she would stop at that point. That was not the case. She then proceeded to kick the childs chair when the family was leaving. There was no remorse or apology for her actions. She continued being a grumpy goat along with her daughter who had the same disposition. When the childs father came back in to confront her still no apology. Kudos to you sir for defending your family! Had I been in the same situation I would have confronted her as well. After the family left the owner and daughter continued to complain about them. What happened to customer service? Apparently they are well off enough they don't need the business. That is good because I know I will not be going back. I will also tell the situation to everyone I know. These two continued to complain about this family well after they left. A comment was made that one call from the father and there goes their customers. Good! I hope that means this gentleman works for the state. To the family this happened to...I was embarrassed for you that evening. If you ever see this I would love to buy your dinner at a more respectable establishment. I recently visited this dive bar while spending the weekend with my parents, and it was a great experience! While we didn't try their famous olive burger, we ordered the bacon cheeseburger, BBQ burger, jalapeño poppers, and onion rings. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The flavors were spot on, and the food was fresh and satisfying. The service was just as good as the food--our waitress was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome throughout our visit. This spot might just become a regular stop when we're in town again. Highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the area! read more

We opened the kitchen in 1999 with the idea of cooking for a few people. The grill holds nine hamburgers. On Friday and Saturday nights there is 3 people working. I realize we can't please everyone. We try so hard .We are the only Mom and Pop place I know of. I am sorry to those who are not happy with us. Yes we are slow. Do not expect fast service upon entering South Riley on a weekend night. I think it's safe to say everyone has has both good and bad experiences at South Riley. I have definitely has both. George has always given exceptional service. Judy on the other hand, it all depends on her mood. There have been times she is friendly and welcoming and other times it is obvious she does NOT want to be there. The food is either really good or below average. I have waited awhile for sub par food and an attitude from staff. Lately I get the impression when I go there in the evening I am a burden. I ate here while passing through to see family in Michigan, and I while I was skeptical at first it was overall an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and on top of their game, and don't even get me started on the food. I've never had a better burger, period. Doesn't matter where I've gone, and seeing as how I've lived all over the US that's saying something. This is family owned business in its best and most spectacular expression, I would recommend it to anyone who's passing through or lives nearby to give it a try. read more

Amazing food, amazing people, amazing family. Seriously the best burgers I have ever eaten. Everyone that I know loves that bar. The people who wrote the poor reviews have no idea what the hell they are talking about.
