The business checked several important boxes for me: it was conveniently located, Black-owned, offered services from a Black wax specialist, and had a wide range of availability. Their pricing was also comparable--and even slightly better--than what I typically pay. When I called, I was shocked by how quickly they could accommodate me for both an underarm wax and a Brazilian. "25?! I'm sorry, did I hear you correctly? How is that possible?" was my actual response to the person who answered the phone. I later learned that the specialist had previously worked at European Wax Center, where she received training that helped her provide efficient and thorough services. At this point, Prestige Beauty Lounge was already earning major points in my book--but the experience only got better. On the day of my appointment, I was greeted by Arriannah, who shared that she was part of a mother-daughter team. During my service, we talked about my waxing history, her own experiences in the industry, and the values we both shared. She also took the time to educate me about proper aftercare.
