It's run by a desperate house wife with nothing better to do with her time and nonexistent qualifications who literally oversees a multi service shop that has uncertified under qualified young women working here. This shop belongs in China town: knock off clothes; horrific coffee, stale snacks, unlicensed laser techs, unlicensed or completely unqualified hair technician aka stylists not to mention what is in the name "brow and beauty bar" stick to eyebrows maybe you will get that done right! I don't have anything but great things to say about Marissa. Marissa truly takes pride in her business and is great at what she does. I made a last minute appointment and ended up not happy with how my lash lift came out (I always have a hard time with my eyelashes because they are super thick and stubborn). I reached out to Matt (who is the manager) and he was super proactive and he instantly scheduled me an appointment to have Marissa fix them at no charge. I couldn't recommend Marissa more! It PAINS ME to leave a bad review on a local woman run business but not one positive thing out of my experience. I got a lash lift which I have gotten MANY different times with various people - I just happened to make an appointment here because it was closer to my house rather than the 2 other places I visit that are closer to my work. First off not 1 person out of the 4 people working there was wearing a mask. okay, fine, no biggie for me bc I just had covid over the holidays so I definitely wasn't going to contract that again but I mean covid is RAGING and you are in my face doing my lashes for an hour - I feel like that is common curtesy. Second, no one was friendly. It had mean girl high school vibes. No warm smiles, just icy all around. I really didn't even care much about that, I'm not there to make friends, but you are running a business, so it was just weird. Okay now to the main event -- the girl doing my lashes literally just glopped on the product -- I was super skeptical because like I said, I get them done often and there is a process you CAN FEEL them doing, actually pulling your lashes up, and none of that was happening. My lashes are NO WHERE NEAR as lifted as they usually get. Literally looks 50% lifted or as if I've had this lift for weeks not hours. The process also took a lot shorter because you can tell she half assed it. I will not recommend or visit here again. read more

Emily was easy to get in touch with and she checked in dates prior to the event along the way. I do very simple makeup for myself / none at all. Whenever I got my makeup & hair done for past events I was never happy with it & I would change it one I got home. I am an artist and am very particular in the visual aspects of my wedding. I've been going to Marissas exclusively since she opened her Merrick location. I came in with uneven brows after years of threading because I can't get waxed, my skin is way too sensitive. She, the owner, has fully rehabbed my brows to the point where I barely have to fill them anymore. I see her about every 6 weeks for a tweezing. She also sold me the Grande Brow serum which I think helped fill them in even more! Other services I've had done there include: lash lift and tints, lash extensions, botox, henna on the brows, and both mani and pedis. They also are a full service salon, including hair extensions and recently added an aesthetician to the staff! I love this place so much if I could afford to go every week I would! The girls who work there are all just amazing and so nice and welcoming! read more

Beautiful venue, however the customer service is horrible. I really try my best not to give into writing bad reviews because I also have a business and understand the hard work that goes into it. My first appointment was on April 3rd for an eyebrow tinting and shaping. I got to my appointment 5 minutes early. I went in, introduced myself and was told to "take a seat." I did so happily because I was in awe with the appearance of the place. I am a New York City native and was impressed by the store front and division of space per service. Unfortunately the physical appearance of the place is the only beauty. I waited and waited and waited and started wondering if they had forgotten about me. It was a busy Saturday. 20 minutes later a woman that sat by the apparel and merchandise section approached me and asked for the time of my appointment. That confirmed that she was shocked at the wait time. I was then seen 5 minutes later adding to approx. a 25 minute wait. Let me remind you- for an eyebrow service. Fast forward to today .I made a hair appointment for 3:30 pm. I called at that time to explain that I was 5 minutes away- 5 minutes! I am a mom of a 15 almost 16 month old and had a slight set back to my day and commute. I've been working remote all day with my sweet boy at home. It is actually my brother in laws wedding this evening and this mommy needed help! After waiting on hold, I was told that no one was going to be able to see me. At this point it was 3:39 pm and I was right in front of the place. My husband urged me to go in and speak but I was overwhelmed by the cold decision. I hate pulling the mom card but dang, it is hard these days to be a parent! I've already been having a tough day. I quietly turned around and came home to wash my hair and try to work something out. I did cry (not gonna lie). I told my husband I refuse to ask their staff for a little bit of compassion if this is clearly repeated behavior (judging by my first experience). I will look for another salon for future services and will not recommend. read more

Ive been coming here for a while for my lash lifts & brow waxes. The last time I went, I was having a little bit of an issue with my lashes as some were lifting more than others.. they just looked a little weird and off. After my lift this time around I was getting my eyebrows waxed and one of the girls realized this (a different girl then who did my lift) and called the owner over. She came over and personally fixed my lashes, which came out AMAZING this time around. She was such a sweetheart and even provided me a free serum for the lashes! I thought this was so nice and such a professional way to handle this. i didn't even complain about the lashes the first time around so she went above and beyond to make sure they were perfect! 10/10 recommended this place :) read more

I went a few days a for my first blowout there with Gianna and my hair looked AMAZING. The curls lasted me 2 days and i have never had them last that long with my hair. Rosanna is The Worst Aesthetician I ever had the misfortune of being recommended. I should have known better when it's was her son Paul from Ace Of Fades who recommended her. I go in for an eyebrow " THREADING" and I end up getting my eye predominantly plucked then wax and slightly threaded. Telling me that oh the pain would kill you if I threaded your whole eyebrows, like I haven't had the service done by a real professional before. Do NOT recommend. Horrible service. Writing this review on behalf of my mom and sister who were treated beyond poorly today. This is the second time my mom went here and waited 45 minutes after her appointment time to be seen. They booked two appointments for blowouts at 1:15 PM today, arrived on time, and waited over 45 minutes before they were tended to. The stylist then said she did not check her schedule, could not accommodate them both, and said it was not her fault that she was running late because "all of my clients were late today." She offered to rush my sister so that she can "try to finish you both" with the time she had left. If two people cannot be accommodated for one time slot with only one stylist, the salon should call the clients and say so. My mom and sister were told on multiple times that the owner, Marissa, would be called yet she never was. There was no solution offered except to not pay and tip but they did not go for a free service - they went to pay for a service only one person was able to receive. This salon and stylist has no respect for their clients or the time their clients take for the appointment. She was told "I can rush you both" but no one wants to get their hair done badly. This ruined both their days as my sister was not even able to get the service because there wasn't enough time. read more

I bring my step daughter here to get her upper lip and eyebrows done and now that I've brought her here more than several times and I consider us regular customers, I feel that I'm able to reliably give an accurate review. Alexis takes care of her and she is absolutely magnificent! Kind, professional, clean, works in a timely fashion, discusses her plan before doing any old plain thing she wants like other places. She truly is talented and has an incredible eye for making my step daughter look her best naturally and beautifully. She doesn't rush and doesn't take forever either because she knows what she's doing. We have nothing but wonderful experiences every time we come. The staff is down to earth and social able and makes you feel very comfortable. Plenty of parking around, pretty decor inside, good and flexible hours, easy to pay, I can't say enough. I honestly really never do reviews. This time I had to. I was simply nit impressed. I went in for a eyelash lift & tint. I didn't really find the staff or the girl at the desk to be friendly at all, very cool actually. The girl that performed my lash lift & tint was great! However its only 4 days later and my lashes didn't take. This is suppose to last 4-6 weeks. So I think that is $100 wasted. I am very disappointed, I will be going elsewhere in the future. read more
