Tony at Benchcraft Jewelers went above and beyond for my fiance and I, and we offer our highest recommendation if you are in need of jewelry repair. With only 2 weeks before our wedding, my fiance's engagement ring broke; the basket holding the diamond snapped right off of the band, through no neglect of her own. The store we purchased it from (James Allen) said they could repair it, but they could not guarantee it would be shipped back to us in time for our wedding, which was unacceptable. After reviewing many jewelers in the area, we visited a few, but Benchcraft Jewelers stood out as the best one to offer our business to. Immediately after entering the store, Tony took a look at the ring and said he would not only be able to fix it in time for the wedding, but put a new, stronger basket around the diamond so it would be reinforced stronger than originally designed, which would prevent such an issue from happening again. He was also happy to speak with our insurance company and explain the necessary details for our damage claim to be covered. Tony has been doing this for 35 years and he knows the right steps to take in order to deliver a perfect product. While we brought the ring back home that day to speak with our insurance company, Tony was extremely proactive and ordered the basket for us, in the chance we came back, as to not delay service any more than necessary. We showed up the next day, and he explained to me and my fiance what the process would look like, and how his work would help make the ring stronger than before. We dropped it off on a Thursday, and he said he should be able to get it back by the Thursday after that, possibly before, so one week's total time from dropping the ring off, which wasn't bad at all. He also explained that while it was in his shop, it was insured by him, which put us at ease when it's such a costly item that you are handing over to someone. Needless to say, we were more than surprised when he called me on Saturday (only two days after dropping the ring off!) to tell us he had been able to make the repair and we could pick it up early! The repair he made on the ring was flawless; not only did he strengthen the ring, but he made some additional changes (which he went over with us prior to beginning the work) which made the diamond easier to clean and fit better on the ring itself. We are so happy we went with Tony. The insurance covered the entire cost of the repair (honestly, even if insurance didn't cover it, I gladly would have given my business to Tony because his high level of knowledge and great customer service simply can't be beat) as well! He also offered to clean it again right before the wedding, just give him a quick call prior to coming over and he would make sure it's done in time. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that he also has some beautiful pieces of jewelry in the store. My wedding set needed to be re-sized and re-pointed. Benchcraft Jewelers is in walking distance of our home and has excellent reviews, so we went in. Tony was fantastic. He asked pertinent questions about what we wanted and carefully explained the process to complete both jobs, particularly that there would be a small seam on the inside of the ring from adding the material for stretching the bands. I wasn't certain how visible it would be (and it doesn't really matter, since it's on the palm side of the band), so I was pleasantly surprised that the seam is barely detectable by feel and not at all by the naked eye. I am so happy to comfortably wear my rings again. The craftsmanship and customer service were both excellent and we will return to Tony for any future jewelry service or purchase. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Tony, the owner, who provides the kind of attentive, personalized customer service that is the product of a bygone era. This small, local business is a hidden gem and I feel so fortunate to have found it! There are not many places like this anymore. I came here to get two pearl necklaces re-strung after doing my online research and stopping by several other jewelry stores to get quotes. One was a white pearl necklace that belonged to my late mother and the other was a strand of blue pearls my grandmother gave me many years ago. Both needed new clasps as well. Tony gave me a very fair price and upon noticing that my mother's necklace was too short for me (something I had not realized since her pearls hadn't been worn in 20+ years), he offered to add some pearls he had in his shop, which happened to match perfectly, for a fraction of what it would have cost me to buy these pearls outright. Since these are precious family heirlooms, I had some "separation anxiety" handing them over to someone I didn't know, but Tony made me feel like he cared about my pearls as much as I did. He spent a good 30 minutes with me discussing different options for the clasps and was very kind and patient.
