When contaminated with water, its lubricating properties are significantly reduced, which can lead to accelerated wear of internal engine components, corrosion, overheating, bearing failure, and catastrophic engine failure. A sudden engine failure while the vehicle is being operated could result in a loss of power, loss of vehicle control, or other dangerous driving conditions that place the driver, passengers, and other motorists at risk of serious injury or death.These issues were not disclosed before the purchase and would have materially affected our decision to buy the vehicle. Had we been aware of these conditions, we would not have purchased the vehicle.Beyond the safety concerns, selling a vehicle after concealing known defects may have caused significant damage to our property by exposing the engine to conditions that could substantially reduce its useful life or require expensive repairs or replacement. Based off the mechanics assessment, around $6000 worth of repairs to make the car drive safely. This business has also been reported to the stat licensing board, with the statments from the mechanic written out detailing how this was not the first time this business has done this to lansing residents. Recordings during the sale were also sent to Michigan's licensing agency, showing that the verbal contract of them trying to convince the customer that the car was safe to drive and had no issues. Even though the mechanics statement shows that the company knowingly hid and concealed issues, which resulted in damages to the consumer and others in the lasning area. We tried to work with budget cars of lansing, but they left us no choice but moving forward with the complaint to the licensing board and i am warning others that they should not do business with this company unless they want to be sold a defective product. In response to this review the company will try to use that it was sold as is, and while that is true. However, that was not my experience at all. Instead of offering in-house financing as advertised, they ran my application through an outside lender (Credit Acceptance). On top of that, I was told I would need to put down $5,500 on a vehicle -- which completely defeats the purpose of working with a BHPH dealer in the first place. At no point upfront was it made clear that they rely on third-party financing or require such a large down payment. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch: advertise flexible in-house financing to get customers in the door, then switch to traditional subprime lending with steep requirements. If you are specifically looking for a true Buy Here Pay Here dealership that works directly with customers on financing, I would strongly recommend asking very direct questions before engaging with this business -- or considering other options entirely. After receiving the vehicle, I discovered that the air-conditioning system was not working. The fan was blowing air, but it was not producing cold air. I immediately tried to contact Michael at the dealership several times to report the problem. I left messages but did not receive a response. When I finally reached him, he told me he would speak with his manager and call me back. He never called me back. Because I needed the vehicle, I took it to a mechanic. I was informed that the A/C system had a leak and required a significant repair. Today, the vehicle was repaired, and I paid $2,000 out of my own pocket to fix the A/C system. Throughout this situation, I continued trying to contact the dealership. I was later told Michael was on vacation, so I asked to speak with his manager, John. I left a voicemail for John and initially received no response. When I finally spoke with him the following day, he told me he would investigate the situation and call me back in approximately one hour. I waited all day, and nobody called me back. What disappoints me most is not only the $2,000 repair bill shortly after receiving the vehicle, but also the lack of communication and follow-through from the dealership. I repeatedly called trying to resolve the situation professionally, and multiple promised callbacks never happened. I purchased this vehicle in good faith and expected the dealership to take my concerns seriously, especially because the A/C problem was discovered immediately after I received the vehicle. Do not be taken in by their confidence scam, I really thought we got a good deal and were treated well until we needed them and the warranty company to step up. Avoid GWC Warranty as well!
