Shout out to SSHS , I had to bring my cat in this morning to be put down. I had made the decision very early today and their website was accurate and up to date with pricing and hours of operation. Upon entering the clinic from the receptionist who helped me to the vet techs and the Dr. everyone was very friendly, efficient and compassionate. A lot of places expect you to make an appointment for euthanasia like really?? This clinic accepted as a walk in for euthanasia. The price was unbelievably low cost as well. I brought my dog in on a limb that the vet would see him because he was acting abnormal. I called another vet and they told me not to wait to take him somewhere close. I brought him here idk why just to see if they could maybe take a Quick Look or advise me on what to do. I was turned around even tho the problem could have been terminal. The veterinarian on shift today is heartless. I'm so disappointed. This seems like another money grab in our community. They don't care about the people/ animals that actually live in the area. I went to the clinic not knowing it was for low income people. I then told the front receptionist that I was willing to pay, and she said NO, unless your low income then we can't treat your dog. It frustrates me that people that can't feed themselves have a dog, and I can kind of get over that, but my taxes are paying for that clinic, and it's a bit stupid that they refuse to not treat paying customers that can offset a lot of the cost, and reduce our tax burden. I do agree that Veterans of war, and the handicap should qualify for those service, but no one else. I just think the clinic should take all dogs in need of care, and have those people pay that don't qualify. Simple. read more

I got early this morning to take my dog to the vet at the Chicago Heights location for her rabies and Bordetella shots. I was the first to arrive, and a few minutes later two gentlemen came. The looked deserted. We stood there for a half hour. We got on our phone, and we found out the facility moved to Matteson. After arriving at the new location, one of the gentlemen explain what happened. I told them all she needed was her shots. They took the gentleman (Hispanic) and told me I have to make an appt. No apology, no consideration, No professionalism at all. I drove over 30 miles one way. How many other people have they treated like this? Communication to their clients (me) was not there. The card sent to informed me about my dog shot had the old address. This move wasn't something that happened overnight. I should have been informed on my last visit when I bought my dog or cat earlier in February of this year. read more

Do not go here unless this is the last clinic in the world. Absolute worst vet I have ever been to in my whole life. They are disrespectful and stuck up including the Vet who is condescending. My kitten ever since I had gotten her, has not been playing, eating, holding her bowels, not going in the litter box, not grooming herself, and when she sits hunched. When telling the vet he told me he has never seen a cat not groom herself in his entire life. And that everything else that I had told him he said she seems normal. I kept telling them that she's not normal, and that that I grew up with cats my whole life, and that she isn't sitting properly. So they decide they will run tests, but before they do they made it clear how much it will cost. I said okay. I heard him talking to the techs, "I want to make sure he was presented with the bill" so much for being a humane society. It was supposed to be a low cost clinic and they charged me $427 originally supposed to be $299 and she's still sick. All this was for "tests" and she wasn't given any medicine. They wrapped her paw so tight that her paw had swollen. They told me if she's not better by Monday (3 days later) that she will need to be hospitalized $1,200. She is a purebred who has been sick since I had gotten her, and the breeder gave me a form to have them fill out confirming she's sick and they refused because they are humane society. Worst excuse for a vet clinic. In addition they lost a lady's dog rabies tag, and when she asked if she could get another they said they will mail it to her. The lady was super nice about it too. However the staff was mocking her and talking crap about her, "who does she think she is" "can't you just give me another one". Honestly, I didn't think the lady said anything wrong. Again quality of care is out the door at this place. It's money driven not community driven. read more

This pet clinic is truly affordable! I like that they're affiliated with SSHS, where I adopted my sweet Am-Staff. The staff is professional and they maintain a good work flow getting pets seen. As it is primarily a walk in clinic, expect a relatively long wait depending what time you go. Saturdays are VERY busy. I suggest getting there before they open. Dr. Powell knows her stuff. She answered our questions thoroughly and we left feeling satisfied with our visit. read more

Let me tell you though they may be a low cost and not be able to perform certain procedures ... Dr. Coyne there is such a phenomenal doctor!!! He took the time to review my x-ray done by another doctor!!! Given his expertise in which helped guided me in the other way I would've gone besides premier vet in Orland wanting 4700.00 to do tests only and by chance needing to seek another doctor for the procedure..Dr. coyne ... Jackson is now getting some help thru what you stated and never did he charge!!!.... this is a doctor whom have empathy for his patients though I'm sure his bills need to be paid but he were willing to help in anyway as doctors we look up to do and he done more than he's known!!!...... from Jackson's family we love you dearly!!!... and for all other pet parents please do your research and don't look for just to pay a bill seek until you know that person. I take my mom here so her dogs can be seen by a vet. There's always a 4 hour wait. There were two different times where the wait was minimum 4 hours. Also, they will turn you away if there are no more spaces open for your pet to be seen. Not the best experience. Definitely switching to a different vet. read more

Our experience was absolutely AMAZING!!!! When my previous veterinarian gave up on our Shih Tzu (I'll be Yelp-ing them next - ugh), South Suburban answered our prayers, and did it with excellent customer service, exceptional personal care and low costs!!!!! Special shout out to Dr. Aducci, who was so attentive and detailed!!! Our dog was in a life-threatening circumstance with Pyometra, and she brought our panic to rest! Also a special thanks to Kelly at the front desk, who patiently worked with us and treated us like family!!!! She was informative and very understanding! Our dog is now healthy and recuperating WONDERFULLY!!! As particular as [I know] I am, I was very pleased with everything!!! I recommend this place to anyone who may feel that they're out of options....you will soon find this to be your FIRST go-to!!!! My experience here was unpleasant to say the least. I brought my cat here. The vet John Coyone was very condescending and not compassionate. Though he was "by the book" his demeanor was cold. After my cat had her blood drawn he tossed her back onto the exam table and left the room. He was forceful when taking her rectal temp. He took no time to show any bit of kindness or care. I was disappointed as we drove an hour from Chicago to visit the clinic. His attitude doesn't make me want to make the drive again to bring my pet in. In the end it was monetarily cheaper but emotionally more stressful. I do not recommend this facility. read more

The clinic is absolutely wonderful. It is there for low income people that want to service and maintain a good quality of life for their pets. We love our animals just like anyone else. This is one of the worst places to take your pet. Their prices are outrageous and their doctors are unsure of themselves. My dog is now gone because they were unable to diagnose him correctly. They charged me 1400.00+, to keep him for four days and all they did was IV fluids and a few antibiotic shots. Ironically they call this "low cost" I went to another vet office I had numerous tests done and we figured out what was wrong with him; they charged me less than 700$. This places is a sad excuse for vet care and I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. They misdiagnosed my cat and then proceeded to lie about it. The manager that was on the phone with me was very rude. He proceeded to tell me that" he had never seen ring worm in cats in his 50 years" when my cat in fact had ringworm once she had gotten checked out at another vet. I even developed a ringworm from my cat and he told me that it was something else and how did i know it was a ringworm. Do not go here they are very rude and disrespectful. read more

I've been to the establishment one other time November 2017, staff at the front desk were not welcoming and had a "matter of fact" attitude but the service was great by the veterinarian even though I waited about 30 minutes to be seen. Today, March 20th, I wanted to get my schnauzer checked out because I noticed blood in her stool a couple days ago. I called March 19th and they just told me to come in on March 20th. I arrived at the clinic at 10:15 and they told me that it would be an hour wait due to a surgery. I decided to leave and then called 1 hour later to be told that the vet is ready to start seeing patients. I came back at 11:30 and waited for 2 hours to be told that I would need to bring in a stool sample by the vet. I still had to pay $30 for the vet because they had actually saw my pet. This is such HORRIBLE customer service. I asked the vet (and she could tell that I was upset) are the people at the front desk to tell clients if they could bring in a sample just in case...she expressed yes, but it had not been told to me that this would be the scenario. All the staff saw that I was upset about the outcome but did not even attempt to resolve the issue. I had also expressed that my dog would need her nails clipped, but they forgot about this! I didn't even remind them! I will not be coming here again and will not recommend anyone to this establishment for their unprofessionalism. I would give a 0 Star if given the option as I am a very unhappy customer and am sad to say that they are in my community. read more

I'm at a lost for words! I feel like they really dropped the ball with my dog. I had taken my dog to the emergency clinic due to him not behaving as he normally would and vomiting. I was told that he may need surgery, because it appeared that something was going on with his intestines that could be deadly. It was going to be $4,000 for surgery, which would be due that night. Of course I didn't come prepared for such a large expense. I inquired about other options and was referred to the South Suburban Clinic. I went first thing the following morning (Saturday). When I arrived, I provided the office with all of the information that I received from the vet that referred me there. The first thing that came out of the worker's mouth is "we can't do surgery today". I informed her that I wasn't sure what needed to be done, that is why I was there to have someone take a second look at him so that I can be best informed. I was told that they needed to take MORE xrays and runs blood tests to see what was going on. After this was done and the bill was starting to rack up, I was told that they didn't see the same issue that the previous vet did. The doctor told me that he saw gas in his stomach and he had an infection in his blood. I then asked how could I have been told that this could be something more serious, but now this doesn't show. He then went on to assure me that he was pretty sure that this was something less severe that would pass. They gave me medicine, went over a diet and told me that they would be closing soon and I would need to come back Monday if this didn't work. By this time I'm a little more hopeful that the short time frame previously quoted for my dog's life was incorrect. I get home follow all of the instructions provided to me, only for my dog to pass later that day. So, long story short I was provided with incorrect information regarding my dogs condition which cost him his life. I then called the office back on Monday to let them know what had happened, the vet then tells me that he was sorry that this happened. WOW!!! read more
