I have had three different primary care doctors over about 20 years, and all three have recommended Dr Venkatesh as the best specialist for all things gastrointestinal. There are other doctors in his office as well, and I assume they are also competent or he wouldn't have them around. But he's the Big Dog. He's always moving fast, but as long as you have questions for him he stays and answers them. I don't know how much longer he will practice, but as long as he does he's my gastroenterologist.

He was surprised when I stated I didn't know why I was there. I had colon Cancer! I never received a call from Dr. Mann or his office. There was no follow up. They claim they can't list me by my actual first name, because it's abbreviated on my insurance card. My insurance knows it's abbreviated and they have my full legal name. And even if their system is that complicated, there's no preferred name option? Really? So they will refer to me as a single letter instead of my actual name. I've never run into this problem before at a medical provider office and I've been to many using the same insurance card. Imagine being taken back to have a procedure done under anesthesia and the assistant you've never met tries to greet you but doesn't know what to call you because your name is missing on your paperwork, and it's just a letter. Imagine they try to call your driver back after you're done, and they don't know what to announce. Imagine you get texts after your procedure, referring to you as a single letter instead of your first name. That's exactly what happened, and I was really surprised. It's poor customer service. It creates confusion and discomfort when you're already in a vulnerable position. I work at a medical office and I can't imagine treating a patient like that. It's such a basic standard to call people by their name. I let the office know my concern and they said they can't do anything about it. I'll go elsewhere next time.

And got a call from a collection agency and they are trying to collect the amount. Call doctor office back and told them and they said they would have someone investigate it and get back to me. And Esther told me not to pay the correct amount until they have rebilled it yet, despite their assurances that I won't continue to be harassed about clearing my balance, I continue to receive messages to pay the incorrect balance. I've even left a couple of voicemail messages with the 'Operations Manager' with no return phone call. I had no such problems with Southeast Valley Gastroenterology, but had to find a provider that accepts my new Medicare Advantage plan, so I switched to Sonoran Gastro. The sad thing is that I really like Dr. Chilicurry, but I can't continue to do business with an organization that is too inept to fix a simple billing error.

Now fast forward to Oct 2 I have had bloodwork and a ct scan done with absolutely no communication about any of my tests results. I even sent emails making sure they got results. Was told he did get my blood tests back and was waiting on ct scan and I would be contacted. Well all results have been in for weeks now and nothing. My blood results said inconclusive and retest in 3 to 6 months. But I am unsure if that is needed or not. So I'm still in pain, no results and now having some bleeding. But feel like with no communication I'm stuck trying to find someone else or just live with it until I have to go to the er. Just upsetting. Not a place I'd recommend at all. Sad thing is I do think he's a good dr as far as knowledge but for me that's it. Basic care requires communication and that was a zero for me.
