Southern Arizona Endodontics have been nothing but a nightmare experience for the last 6 months. Between rescheduling my appointments repeatedly without notice for 3 months straight, incorrectly scheduled my surgical appointment by a week on their end but provided me with appointment card with the accurate date and time that I had requested and then refused to correct their mistakes and accused me of lying despite being provided proof of their mistake. They also quadrupled my procedure cost because they incorrectly double charged my insurance causing me to have no balance despite having NEVER used the card and having had ZERO services performed. I was sitting in their office until 3:08pm waiting for my 2pm surgery because they "they couldn't confirm payment" despite me making a nearly $1,000 payment for anesthesia and providing proof of the charge from less than 48 hours prior. Additionally, they double charged my insurance prior to appointment date and as a result they are saying that I owe an additional $900 more than the already quadrupled amount before they'll start the procedure because they maxed out my otherwise unused insurance. I ended up having to report them for fraud to my insurance company due to their repeated charges for procedures I had never had conducted. They are not on top of anything and are extremely unreliable, the receptionist is nice and tried to correct within her control but the entire practice is unprofessional and unreliable and quite frankly reeks of fraud. I would literally rather take pliers and rip my own tooth out than allow any of them near my mouth because of how unreliable they are. read more

When moving to a new town & trying to find a specialist when you have an abscess on a post that is attached to a bridge & you drive over 1400 miles because no specialists in Washington can get you in, it's a very humbling & painful experience! Got in for a late afternoon appt, woman at front desk had zero personality, & first assistant had no bedside manner! My husband is a very gentle man filled with joy & in extreme pain from 8 days traveling by car with not one but 2 abscesses in his jaw bone. The 2nd assistant who helped & the Dr both were very nice, professional & helpful! Will need a couple more appt's with a periodontal specialist but they were able to relieve one abscess so the pain has subsided & let him get back to feeling better & getting ready for his new job! read more

Very accommodating in seeing us in a crisis brought on by a procedure that was put off too long. Staff was friendly and helpful while maintaining just the right amount of professionalism. Will never be a place that you want to go but when you need this sort of treatment, Dr Cross and his staff will be there for you so don't put it off. read more

Normally I only take the time to provide positive reviews, but this experience was horrible before I even got past the receptionist, Michele. She was so obnoxious, abrasive and rude, that it set the entire tone of the place. Upon sharing with the dental assistant, she seemed totally unconcerned, saying "I'll have a word with her". My fiancé and I were so put off by the vibe in that office that I decided to go elsewhere, making that call to Dr. Oscar Pena before even hitting the parking lot. I had seen Dr. Pena before and shouldn't have hesitated going back just because I was referred to So AZ Endo by a new dentist. My next review will be a 5 star rave review of Dr. Oscar Pena. First of all I am only giving this place one star because I am not able to put ZERO STARS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I went in to get an evaluation referred by my dentist for a root canal that did not work. I am bilingual, however I did prefer an interpreter in Spanish to be able to fully understand what was going on with my teeth and to know my treatment options. The interpreter was a young female, thin and tall with dark hair. She was incredibly rude and she made racial slurs. First, I was confused about the process and what the doctor was telling me, so I would ask questions to understand what decision I wanted to make regarding my treatment. The interpreter asked me "are you an engineer?" I answered "no, why?". She replied "well because you are acting like an engineer because you are asking so many questions and want to know everything". Second, i would also ask her for any professional recommendations about treatment and she replied "we cannot tell you what to do it is your own decision. I cant guarantee you it is going to help you because it is like a heart attack, you are never 100% sure". Third, her job was to INTERPRET between myself and the doctor. Instead multiple times i had to ask her to please relay what i was asking or saying to the doctor. Instead she refused to translate and instead would proceed to tell her own opinions. Lastly and THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON WHY YOU SHOULD NOT GO HERE. She made various racial slurs towards me, simply because I preferred Spanish rather than English. Please be aware that I was nervous throughout the appointment and was being polite the entire time. I asked politely and concerned that if I had the procedure done if I would be able to go to work the following day. She had the audacity to assume i cleaned houses. She said "well if you had a good desk job then yes you can, but if you are cleaning houses then no you will not be able to". The way that i was treated was simply grotesque. I left feeling disappointed, insulted, offended, and humiliated. Please do NOT go here, you will not feel reassured and you will not be treated professionally. What a shame that they would employ such a person with a lack of professionalism. Those that are hired at this place should be polite, educated, knowledgeable, and overall professional. read more

We had an emergency, and were sent here, they got us in within ONE HOUR! They got right to us, didn't have to sit in a room for hours after going back. The procedure could have gone two different ways, and they totally respected patient wishes, and did the one requested! They have a fridge in the waiting room, stocked with juice, water, sodas, all Coke products, my favorite. :) They also had cookies out to make waiting more pleasant, and restocked twice while I was there. (The cookies were good, what can I say) They were very nice from start to finish. I would highly recommend them! read more

Best root canal experience! No, that is not a joke. And yes, I have had at least six other root canals in my lifetime. The office staff is top notch. Professional and extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. David Burros is amazing. He explained everything and provided step-by-step information through the whole procedure. I was done in an hour. (My last root canal took not one, but three, visits and the total time over those three visits was seven and one half hours). Having been through several very unpleasant root canal procedures in my life, I can honestly say that I have never had such a positive and painless experience at an endodontics practice. read more

In short order, Dr.Hauseman of SAE confirmed my referring dentist's diagnosis and then skillfully performed the root canal procedure that was necessary. Highly recommend Dr Funk and his team to be the one to perform your next root canal or any other invasive dental procedure.Exceptional Service from scheduling to leaving the office after my "pain free" root canal was completed. The office was very clean and odor free. I was in excruciating pain and the scheduler was not only empathetic, but also able to schedule me that same day! Dr Funk was kind, knowledgeable, but most of all gentil along with his assistant Joel. It was a week before Christmas and these two professionals stayed after hours to make sure I would be pain free during the holidays. I came here for the care of a root canal. I've had them before and I wouldn't wish them on my worse enemy. But this is the first time that i actually felt comfortable getting one done. Dr. Funk made me feel so relaxed (no, i didn't get NO2) that i actually fell asleep. Everyone, from the receptionist to billing was welcoming and concerned for our wellbeing. They have a variety of drinks for free (but no, no brandy to take the edge away). And being able to have scenery on the ceiling instead of just tiles is a great touch. I genuinely didn't want to leave (but I'm not going to go around waiting for another RC, that's for sure!). In a nutshell, they're AWESOME!!!! read more

I highly recommend southern Arizona endodontics. I had a severely infected tooth and was in more pain than I had ever felt. I saw doctor Keippel on Monday of this week for an emergency root canal. By this morning the infection that I had before the root canal had gotten to the point of having a large abscess over my tooth. Very painful. He got me in right away today after I called within the hour! He was so kind and compassionate and so careful. Joel and Heidi over there were equally phenomenal with their kindness it means so much when you are in that much pain. I could not appreciate them more! Had a lot of pain with my molar & needed a route canal. Was able to get same day appointment. I think I saw Dr. Smith. All of the staff were very nice. I was a little nervous that the route canal was going to be long, and painful (bad experience in the past), but it was the opposite. It was quick, and totally painless. I had a root canal done that didn't work since it still hurt afterward. After over a year and two follow-ups, Dr. Funk said he saw nothing wrong and walked out of the room. It cost me over $1000 to him and $200 more to have the tooth pulled (by another dentist). I believe he is qualified and all his people were very friendly but I was not satisfied with the outcome of the experience. He did not accomplish what he set out to do. read more

I had a bad ache in a problem tooth. Apparently, my previous endodontist messed up the root canal... I was able to get a same-day appointment with Dr. Keippel. He was incredibly nice as well as methodical in my retreatment. He took a long time to make sure to do the best job possible. I would highly recommend him, although hopefully he wouldn't be offended if I say I'd like not to have to go back! read more

The first time I had a root canal done here it was fine, went smoothly, no problems. Imagine my surprise when this time I went to have a root canal retreated and the doctor was not only rude and passive aggressive, (kept saying it was a periodontal issue even though my regular dentist sent me back to them after seeing a periodontist), when he did the first numbing it made a sharp pain in my cheek that lasted several minutes and his reply was well that's why we tell you to open your mouth, very snide and rudely said, mind. My mouth was open, I have a small mouth. He was also rude about the fact that I couldn't fit the bite Block he wanted me to use without major discomfort and made sure to complain that he needed that space but he'd try to save the tooth. He drilled into my crown and they were spraying this disinfecting solution that smelled like straight bleach you would use to clean your bathroom, when I said I have a sensitivity to bleach and the smell was making me sick, he pulled off the dental dam, shoved a temporary into the hole he made in my crown and told me to get the tooth pulled or come back when I'm willing to do IV sedation. He proceeded to tell me that every dentist flushes the tooth with bleach during a root canal and that my others would've had the same. ( this was not said in a nice way, hello passive aggressiveness, and I'm sorry but what do they use on someone with a bleach allergy? I'm sure there are alternatives) he then proceeded to walk out of the room, didn't tell me anything about the temporary and they still charged me $100. I had to rush to my dentist and ask for another referral, luckily they can get me in today since I have no idea if this temporary fill will hold at all or if there's anything I need to do with it. NEVER again with this place. read more

I recently moved to Tucson from the San Francisco Bay Area, developed an infection in a capped but cracked molar and had to find a new dentist immediately. Dr Lee of Aspen Dental on Oracle Rd sent me up the street to have a root canal done within the hour. Both professional, kind and understanding resolved a problem that could have ended up badly if gone untreated. Their wonderful sense of humor was a great bonus! Well, for me, a trip to the endodontist office is never good news and this trip (an emergency) was no different. EXCEPT their professionalism, customer service, compassion, and empathy. My dentist (also amazing) got me in at the last second for an emergency visit and unfortunately I needed a root canal due to old trauma. The entire staff and Dr David Burros were so nice and gentle it made a bad situation tolerable. All I could keep thinking was, someone gave all of them IMMENSE customer service training and it paid off. From the greeting when you walk in to the hygienist who shakes your hand, introduces herself, and escorts you around the office (even the ladies room!) is 1st class all he way.
