After a great night out, I chipped a tooth or so I thought. My family and I were in the middle of a cross-country move and I left my dentist behind. After searching through providers for my insurance, I came across Southern Arizona Endodontics, and I'm so glad I did. Making the appointment was easy, even without having a referral. I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day, lucky me. The front desk staff were sweet and moved me through after filling out paperwork. After being taken to the back and having X-rays done, I met my dentist, Dr. Funk. Dr. Funk let me know I hadn't chipped my tooth, instead, I cracked it and would need to either pull it or get a root canal. I opted for the root canal and he and his tech searched for a spot in his schedule. Dr. Funk offered to squeeze me in the same day for the root canal after not finding space in his upcoming schedule. Of course, I took it and Dr. Funk took care of me. Everything was explained to me, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. He even showed me before and after my X-rays of what was done. I loved my experience. I'm not one to shy away from the dentist and I would recommend Southern Arizona Endodontics to anyone unlucky enough to need a root canal done. read more

These people know what they are doing and do it well. The treatment offices are a cramped. There is only room for the patient and two workers. A root canal is never expected, let alone TWO at the same time. Dr. Hughes got me in same day which was unexpected. He diagnosed the pain quickly and prescribed antibiotics. I had two root canals two days later (actually could have been same day but my personal schedule would not accommodate that). It was fast and painless. I was impressed with the kindness of every single person I came in contact with. Dr. Hughes and the assistant explained everything,....every detail, every step, why he was doing things the way he was.....everything. I have dental anxiety and this team did everything right to help me feel comfortable. The only discomfort I experienced was during the injection of the anesthetic but it was not bad. He went very slow during the process and frequently checked in with me. There was zero pain during the procedure. Because he had to drill through two crowns that are part of a permanent bridge, he took his time to ensure there was no damage. Hopefully, I never have to return, but should an endodontist ever be needed, Dr. Hughes would be my choice. read more

I can not rave enough about SAENDO. I went to Dr. Kramkowski at their Craycroft location for a root canal after more than a week of severe pain. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Both he, and his assistant, were so calming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dr. K has very much a "comforting Dad" vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mentioned this to his assistant and she said he had daughters, which was no surprise. He was awesome. While his assistant (I apologize I can't remember the name... tried to find it on the website and couldn't) were making small talk I mentioned what a horrible few weeks I had been having (including the murder of my 21 year old son, totaling a car, and my husband being hit on his motorcycle) and he must have overheard because he offered a discount totally unprompted. I literally had to hold back tears at the offer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I left his assistant even gave me a handwritten note about how sorry she was and it was signed from the whole office staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] i cried when I opened it (in the privacy of my vehicle where i wouldn't look like a blubbering baby). I had pain in my lower right jaw increasing over a month until it got so bad I literally could not stand it a moment longer. My dentist referred me to SAE and they gave me a same day appointment! So 10 stars because this practice actually has emergency appointments available for people in pain. I went to the appointment expecting a consultation and then a follow up appointment to take care of the problem. But Dr Funk (I know, cool name right?) said I needed a root canal, and (drum roll) he was going to do it right then and there. Problem solved, no more pain, and I don't have to cancel my vacation. I saw Dr. Funk in 2015, he completed a root canal on my molar and it did not hurt one bit. I was terrified at the thought of getting one. Well, I now need another rot canal for a different molar and I saw Dr. Funk again yesterday. His office and staff are all awesome and I highly recommend Dr. Funk! read more

I've had a couple other root canals with no issue. This one started out bad from the beginning. The dental tech was new just learning under observation by another. She barely spoke English could not get X-rays right. Other lady had to come in and complete it. Then Dentist came in his English was worse. They both were wearing masks and neither one could understand the other. She didn't know the tools he needed. Other employees came in asking questions on other procedures while he was drilling. It was total chaos start to finish. Procedure came out good but whole experience was negative. Would never go back. read more

Big shout out to the endodontists receptionists and dental assistants at SAE. I have seen dr. Hughs, dr. Bui, and dr. Funk. All wonderful endodontists. Dr. Hugh's was very good at numbing me with needles before my root canal. The team is able to get you in for emergency appts if you are having a lot of pain and I was able to be seen by all three endodontists on different occasions in a timely. All 3 very nice compassionate and just want the patients pain to go away. I am especially grateful for dr. Funk getting me in thid past Saturday 3/12 in the afternoon. Grateful for the staff staying for me to make sure my pain gets taken care of. Also the assistant follows up with you at least 2 days after to make sure everything is going ok. Through all this nonsense the past 3 months with my teeth issues I am grateful for that office and the plus side they take payment plans (you don't have to pay all up front) which was a big stress reliever for me. If u are in need of a good endodontist that is caring compassionate I definetly recommend this place -also wanted to add that I had a procedure with my dentist on Wednesday 3/23 and I noticed today that I had bleeding and a few pustule like nodules around the area od the procedure. I called my dentist he was out of town and called me back and told me to go to to er to get it checked out. I called SAE spoke with Jenny dr. Kramkowski assistant who was so helpful and did not hesistant to see If she could Have one of the endodontist recommend something. I sent her a picture of the blood line and pustules forming she had dr. Funk look at it and called me back less than 30 minutes later letting me know what dr. Funk recommended. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The customer service, how much they care about there patients. All the dental assistants and endodontists go above and beyond to make sure the patient is taken care of. Not to mention I saved over 1000$ going to the er. I was dealing with a severe infection and needed a root canal asap. I was scheduled to see Dr Justin Hughes. While I was waiting for my afternoon appointment, they called and asked if I wanted to come in earlier since they had an unexpected opening. Yes! I was there within 10 minutes, 15 mins later I was sitting in the chair. On first meeting the Dr thanked me for coming in earlier, I thought that was nice but I was more than happy to since I was in pain. After a brief discussion of what was going on and xrays, he was numbing me up. I have had many bad experiences in my life with dentists, this had caused a fear and absence from regular dental visits. Ultimately ruining my smile. While I did not share my fear, the Dr was very gentle, explaining everything he was doing along the way and always checking to make sure I was ok. It was done in no time, I was surprised. Not one bit of pain. After making sure everything was ok, including me he gave me instructions and I was on my way. I thanked him for his pain-free dental care and told him, I would most likely still have all my teeth if I had a dentist like him previously. All the staff was fantastic! Kind and friendly! I went in for a root canal when I was around 14 or 16 or so, and was too afraid to be put to sleep, so the anesthesiologist pulled my dad aside and told him that normally they hold special needs kids down since I am Autistic. Told me I was never allowed in any of their locations. FYI= Here's how sick I was.... I had lost 3 liters of blood and rushed to the Hospital. I just got back from 5 days in the ICU at N.W. hospital. A. Somehow when we moved we lost track of the bill we owe. B. They tacked on nearly $1000. in "fees and interest" in less than a year. C. Then they hired a collection agency called "General Business Recovery" who called more than once and did not allow me to speak. They were obstinate and rude and then after they were finished berating me before I could ask them not to call again, they hung up. This happened twice. D. I attempted to reach Stacy in finance to discuss our bill and she refuses to speak with me. The dentist may do an okay performance, however, their business practices make me think they are run by a bunch of South Tucson hoodlums and trailer trash. They are completely unprofessional. When you claim someone owes something, you allow for dialogue. Hiring a company that calls someone and yells at them, acts obstinate, and hangs up or having the main business avoid them like a child afraid to answer the phone when the customer has questions is not a great way to get paid. It's a good way to get sued, however. read more

My experience was extremely positive! Dr. Smith and Morina were amazing. I have extremely sensitive teeth. Dr. Smith was consistently monitoring my pain level, making adjustments with local anesthesia when needed. Because I felt minimal pain, I was able to relax and I believe this contributed to my positive recovery. My tooth had four roots and was inflamed. The following day I have no pain. My root canal was a complete success. I will only go to this practice and insist on seeing Dr. Smith and Morina in the future if I need another root canal. I am extremely pleased. read more

I was traveling through Tucson when I developed a need for a root canal. I found SA Endodontics through Yelp and was glad I chose them to fix my tooth. From initial phone contact through professional services to financial explanation and help with insurance billing I was more than satisfied. In particular Dr Funk very patiently explained all options and went over my dental X-RAYS to my full satisfaction. The procedure itself was virtually painless. I had had a previous root canal in another city and by comparison this one in Tucson was far superior mostly in the obvious emphasis to make the whole experience smooth and comfortable for the patient. I have no way to judge the professional competence of the staff here but I am certainly qualified to report how I felt being a patient there and really can't think of any way they could have I improved it for me. 5 stars read more

Definitely one of the best offices in town. I called around 5am because I was in so much pain and they got back to me almost immediately after they opened to schedule an appointment and I got a same-day emergency appt. Went in for what I thought was an abscess turned out to be a different infection and they were sure to do thorough x-rays and examinations before proceeding with treatment, and were ready to refer me to another specialist if I did not need a root canal. Unfortunately I did but they made it a completely painless process. The staff are amazing and made me feel super comfortable and relaxed even though I was a bit anxious. I went to get a root canal today. The check-in was nice and the dental assistant and endodontist were nice. There were some red flags though. Almost all the way through the procedure, the endodontist said that he forgot a canal! That is a big MISTAKE! He went back and fixed it, but still?!? If he forgot a canal, it could have led to a major infection after the crown was put in later. Also, when I went home and tried to brush my teeth and floss later that night, I realized that they had fused the tooth they were working on to the tooth next to it. I paid out of pocket $1194. For that amount of money, I expected perfection! Now, I can't floss, which is the reason why I needed a root canal in the first place! THEY FUSED THE TOOTH FROM THE ROOT CANAL TO THE TOOTH NEXT TO IT!! UPDATE: So I called to schedule to fix it. They agreed to fix it at no additional cost, however, they have been playing scheduling ping-pong with me. If this fix was easy, I would have upped their stars. Scheduling the fix has been a pain. I will keep it at a 1 star rating. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this practice, and Dr. Hughes himself. I a terrified of dental anything because of my expectation for pain. I have had wonderful dental care here and with my regular dentist, and only experienced pain during a procedure once from a dentist way in my past (not my current dentist, who is a saint), but once was enough. Dr. Hughes is extremely patient with me, and calmly talking me through my fear while injecting the numbing agent. The practice itself has really kind and attentive staff helping you, too. Dr. Hughes has helped me through a few dental emergencies, and even some of my family members. All of us had wonderful care and great outcomes. Dr. Burros and his team are the absolute best! From the moment you walk into the office, you are greeted warmly and almost immediately taken back, minimal waiting. The assistants are very knowledgeable and professional. Dr. Burros himself was very gentle and thorough. He explained everything in detail so I always knew what to expect next, and that made things easier to handle.After many years of dealing with a sensitive tooth and crown, he was the first to finally figure out that I needed my root canal retreated! His high tech xray machine made this possible. I know for most people the anesthetic is the scariest part but Dr. Burros did it so gently, I barely felt any pricks! Their office is very clean and updated. You can tell they have the best equipment available. So i called my dentist and they told me to call the place where i got my root canal, so i did just that, when i got there Dr, John Houghes checked my tooth and trying really hard to say that it's the next tooth. But we keep coming back to the tooth that he worked on. He said he would fix it for another $350. I said no it should be free, i already paid tbem 200 plus, and my insurance company paid them also.
