They are the worst. They are shutting our power off for multiple nights, to replace 1 pole with equipment. At first it was only supposed to be 8.5 hours. Now it's twice that over the course of two days. Here in San Bernardino it is still hot at night in the summer, yet we are just supposed to deal with it. Terrible Business. I've been with Tesla Solar for years, and have never been charged by Edison. Yet, when I sold my house in February 2026, Edison directly charged my Bank of America checking account for over $2k. They never send me a bill or anything. I've made a fraudulent dispute with my bank, I was able to get my money back. Yet, Edison now sends me bills, plus $6 on each bill. I've written them mail to ask them for explanation of the charges. SCE is a rip off! I've been showing a credit on my SCE bill of over $4000. We have solar and we sell back our energy. I called SCE at the end of March and ask them for a refund. The gentleman on the phone said yes he gets a lot of calls of people asking for refunds and They do refund it. It takes about two weeks and asked me to call back on April 17, 2026 and at that time I would be told when to expect a refund. I called this morning. The gentleman I talked to you this time on the phone was rude and hard to understand. He told me that was a mistake and that I will not be getting a refund. In fact I owe $1400 and wanted to know when I would pay it. I went back on our account and nowhere, Does it show that we ever had that credit, I'm glad I took a picture of it. The best thing about SCE: Once someone came out to troubleshoot the problem (dirty power resulting in constant grid disconnects) the service was genuinely amazing. The technician diagnosed the problem on the spot (squirrels had eaten the aluminum power line coating from the transformer to our house) and summoned a huge crew that fixed it completely (replaced the entire length with copper power wires) within a couple of hours. read more

I'm extremely dissatisfied with SCE's handling of this ongoing power outage. There has been zero communication regarding the cause, estimated length, or repair updates. This complete lack of transparency is unacceptable--especially from a utility provider that has continually raised rates while delivering increasingly unreliable service. Your peak pricing structure is predatory, charging customers the most when they are most vulnerable and in greatest need of power. Last year, we experienced over two weeks of PSPS outages--many of those days with little to no wind in our area. Even your own field technicians admitted they've advised the main office on how to improve the system by installing new circuits to separate high-risk areas from neighborhoods that should not be subjected to the same shutdowns. Yet nothing has been done. It's clear SCE is more concerned with optics and profits than meaningful infrastructure improvements or customer care. The fact that we have no other utility provider options due to your monopoly is infuriating. Frankly, it's driving residents like myself to seriously consider leaving the state just to secure a basic utility we can depend on. Do better. read more

They are not there to help and they are not your friends... Next are the constant service interruptions. They occur routinely every month or two in our area and this has been going on for years. It's so expected for us that we've had to install emergency lighting in every room in the house and purchase a backup generator, just to make sure we're safe, warm and that our food doesn't spoil. And when the wind blows, forget about it. They will randomly shut off the power at the first sign of a breeze, for fear of their faulty equipment causing a fire. And while they're supposed to send out notices ahead of time, that only works about half the time. Finally, let's discuss the elephant in the room. Their dangerous and faulty equipment has caused wholesale destruction on a massive scale, from entire neighborhoods and business districts being leveled, to dozens of deaths. Other countries, and even other state's electrical grids do not have this problem just because the wind blows. Only SCE... Unfortunately for many of us, we have no choice except to connect to their grid. And when you do, you're in for an expensive wild ride from blackouts, planned power outages and fires. As many other reviewers have mentioned, it's nearly impossible to get through to someone who can actually help. I called five times on an urgent matter and experienced repeated issues: one representative gave me the runaround, another flat-out lied, and one (Barbara Lopez) even hung up on me -- easily one of the worst customer service interactions I've ever had. After several frustrating days, I finally connected with Frank, who was professional, kind, and true to his word. He took the time to listen and actually resolved my issue. He deserves five stars across the board and is the only reason this review isn't a zero. SCE, please invest in better customer service training. Overpromising, underdelivering, or hanging up on customers is unacceptable. While this experience was incredibly frustrating overall, working with Frank restored a bit of my faith that there are still good people within the company who genuinely care about helping customers. read more

Despite living alone, gone most of the day, limited usage of electricity, my monthly rate continues, unabated, to rise. Most curious, I started to search the internet for an explanation. I learned, and it can be verified, SoCal Edison is constantly seeking approval from regulators to increase the rates, and most ignominiously the requests are granted/approved. I haven't a clue where these regulators reside, but I seriously doubt it is in California. The cavalier justification for the rate increase is, perhaps, sutured because of the recent fire. The damage was catastrophic, and my heart goes out to those who lost their homes. Yet, with the unabating rate increases, it therefor seems Edison is being sued, and the consumers are being charged to pay. No one, absolutely no one, seems concerned, for dumb and silent sheep they are monetarily sheared. Consumers are sheared during the winter by Southern California Gas, After winter, Edison takes over. I believe there is some very fraudulent things going on with edison lately. I have been a very long time customer and never had. A late or missed bill since 2018. Over the last 3 months I have had the worst service by any company I have ever worked with. This year I was requested to resubmit information to receive a discount on my electric bill. I followed the request as asked submitted 2 months of pay stubs and the online form. This took place in March. Later I receive a letter stating they need a copy of my taxes and an additional form to say all my information was correct. This is now April, I send a current copy of my 2023 taxes and their form via the mail and await a response. May I get a letter in the mail it says I have reenrolled successfully. I get another letter in the mail with a confirmation system. I call the number it says I have reenrolled successfully and I think nothing else of it. I go on vacation and June 16th I get an email stating that I was unenrolled because my information was insufficient. Now magically my usage goes up from 500kwatts to 1200kwatt usage and have a $500 dollar bill. Mind you no changes have been made in my usage. I go back and forth with them for months trying to call and get assistance. Wait times of over an hour. Getting someone and them putting me on hold and then hanging up on me. I finally am told they want me to reapply and also submit my w2 and taxes. I try to so it online however online tells me I am already approved. Then I get an email saying I am rejected even though my income fits the limit. Now the July bills comes, 2000kw usage and 800 dollars. Mind you my A/C is set to 78 and also not running regularly. They now say they got my information but it will be at least 30 days to be reviewed. Looked online and I magically have another bill for the same amount. When I had the discount my bill was never even close to this. And that's with a pool running and ac at 72. So what's really going on? read more

Yesterday SCE told us the power will be off from 10 PM to 5 AM. Right before 10 PM they said this outage has been cancelled. We therefore were unprepared for an outage. Without any further notice the power was turned off until 6:30 AM. This is so disrespectful to customers particularly those of us who have to work. It was very cold during the night and unsure as why they do the outages during the winter season. With the frequent outages at least be specific and not say it's changed when in fact it is not so customers can prepare. Have some respect. read more

SCE is absolutely garbage, a company that has failed for years in maintaining the basic functions and needs for the customers. Over the recent storm, there had been 4 outages over two days. This was a moderately strong storm. The house electric voltage fluctuates a lot. They simply don't have enough juice and opted to cut down the share of the flow to keep charging more for less. Their way is not to do any upgrade/repairs until something breaks. Customer care and service is miserable. Power outage starting at 10pm. I go to the website and supposedly it's a scheduled maintenance outage until 7am tomorrow. No advance warning - we were never told. I have a reef tank that should have a generator to back it up, but I can't even get out of my gated community to get to a storage facility nearby where my generator is, and even if I could, I wouldn't be able to get through the power gate to get the generator. You will listen to non stop info on how to apply for programs! If you are lucky and finally get a live person, you will have been routed to another country. Everyone you talk to has the same accent. You will be told your request has been dispatched and a repairman will be there on that day but you will wait all day and nobody shows up nor will you receive a simple text updating you where you are in line. God help you if a family member is on oxygen! I wish there were other electric companies so there would be competition for business.
