Charlie came to our property to give us a quote for fence stain. He walked the grounds. We discussed the landscaping and he said he would handle it. We agreed to a price and he wrote a bid. When he arrived at the job site (a day late) the following week he wanted more money. He was unhappy with some vines, shrubs and mulch. Nothing changed between the day they gave us the bid and the day they arrived to start work. We politely reminded him that we had agreed to a price already. He then said it was "hard." We said, " I know, that's why we hired professionals." We basically said you can do the job for the price you bid us or you can leave. They left. My vines are all over the ground. We took time off from work to get the quote and took time off to meet him on the start day. Very disappointing. What a total waste of time. read more

I called for an estimate and usually I like to speak to someone so i can get a good first chemistry check. I'm so glad I do this because it cuts down on wasting my time with total jerks who are rude, condescending unhelpful, and laugh at women who need help deciding paint colors and material. I chose to end the initial phone call bc the rep was so unhelpful and quite rude. He seemed extremely irritated and very bothered by my questions about paint and materials - maybe he didn't have the answers ans was afraid to say he didn't know - seemed that way. I have no idea about paint and materials and was wanting professional advice for my home when choosing paint colors and material and I THOUGHT they could answer two questions about paint color and materials used before I had them come out for an estimate but apparently they can't even do that. wow! dodged a bullet on that one. Imagine if I had overlooked his terrible condescending attitude hired them - what a freaking nightmare that would have been. I urge everyone to do chemistry checks with contractors who are coming on your property. Sometimes I am happy and willing to pay more if I have good chemistry with a company and their reps. Attitude is so important. This guy though needs his attitude adjusted. I'm reading the reviews and it seems this is an ongoing issue for him. Maybe he's having a hard time in life or is unhappy who knows. Anyways, onward to a professional paint company who is kind, considerate, polite, helpful, humble, knowledgeable and professional!!! We simply could not be more pleased with the entire team at Southern Painting. We recently closed on our new home in Cross Creek Ranch, and wanted to have them come in and paint before we moved our furniture in. Well, because of closing delays, we ended up having to reschedule the Southern Painting team. Throughout all of the delays caused by our closing delay, they were completely flexible with rescheduling and giving us the absolute best service. Even though our delays caused them to have to paint after our furniture was in the house, they worked it in flawlessly. They did a great job of protecting the new house, and the skill these guys bring to the art of painting is second to none. We reached out to Southern Painting and Thomas got back with me right away. After speaking with him he sent Kris to my house for an estimate. Kris was super professional and gave me an organized quote and followed-up promptly. They were not the cheapest quote I received but I could tell they were the best before even using them. Salvador and Jose were my painters and they came on time everyday and did tremendous work. They were very polite and detail oriented. I called to get a quote to have my exterior facia boards and gutters painted. Southern Painting tried to upsell me on a whole house repaint which I was not interested in given that the rest of my home looks perfectly fine. When I restated that I was only interested in getting a quote for the limited amount of work I needed, I was told that they were not interested without even doing an inspection. Southern Painting is extremely unprofessional in that they turn down customers who do not fall victim to their upsell tactics. read more

We recently hired Southern Painting (SP) to paint our house. The job involved painting of all interior walls, all baseboards, 3 ceilings and touch ups of crown molding. We'd later added painting of the garage floor; the garage is connected to the main house at the formal living room. Background: the house was empty aside from white goods/appliances, due to tenants having moved out, and our furniture having not yet arrived. We were out of town during the week when the painting was scheduled, hence - in theory - painting would have been started and completed upon our return. A Monday start was scheduled, which was confirmed by SP on the prior Thursday. Issues started from day 1, and built up through the course of the job... - Despite confirmation of a Monday start, the painters didn't arrive until Tuesday. No explanation was given until asked later, at which time I was told that 'of course if they can't finish another job then I have to wait.' [NB; who's the customer here..?]. SP had advised the job would likely finish on Friday, but otherwise would complete on Saturday. The Friday finish wasn't accomplished, and they likewise failed to appear on Saturday. They did not reappear until the following Monday. - New items needing attention were discovered as the job progressed. This is not unusual, but also started on day 1. We were in email communication, escalations appeared - and were approved - on a daily basis. Until the last one, where I was told bathrooms needed a 'second coat to cover marks' ( extra $400). No 'marks' had ever existed. We refused to approve these until we had a 1st-hand inspection. Upon our return on Friday evening, not only did we find the job incomplete, but also found.... - Missing from house: a case of bottled water from refrigerator, a partially used jug of laundry liquid, a box of dryer-sheets, a bathroom towel rack, and an 8' aluminum ladder. The latter two were later found in the painter's van after SP was notified, and were returned. other items weren't acknowledged, despite painting crew being the only people in the house all week. - Painters had used our kitchen & bathroom sinks, and the master bathtub to clean their brushes/rollers, leaving smeared paint and drippings in each. Drippings and smears, and failed attempts to clean a few, were also found on tile floors, a couple windows, stair rail, and several kitchen and bathroom counter-tops. The painters purportedly used drop-cloths, but there was little evidence of that. - Muddy footprints around the kitchen, entry & breakfast room floor tiles (recently power-steam-cleaned at substantial cost), remnants of the crews lunch on our kitchen counter, and a couple spots on the floor where some type of glue or soft drinks had been spilled. Toilets were likewise 'soiled', and TP fully consumed, all having been spotless a week prior. - Curtain rods and curtains, which were to be removed for painting and then replaced, were piled into an incoherent heap in the game-room. Rods were to have been replaced, but weren't, painters appeared unaware they had any responsibility for these. - items from garage (power washer, weed-eater, sprinklers, misc. old junk, etc) found lying inside the house, in formal living room floor. - holes in walls where curtain hooks had been removed for filling, had hooks re-inserted, and not filled. - one ceiling crack needing repair was 'over-textured' and required significant sanding & finishing to match the rest of the ceiling. When questioned later how this happened, painters repeatedly referred to 'them' and 'they'. Was it even the same crew.? Overall, the appearance was of a 'slap-dash rush' to spread paint and get out ASAP. When phoned about all this on Saturday, SP's rep was defensive, until arriving to inspect the work; after seeing the house, he stated that although he was there on Thursday, he didn't come to look on Friday. The painters ultimately completed the job, and returned some of the missing items, and left a reasonably good result. But the final result required very close supervision, and was not without stress. Important consideration is the painters were not actually employees of SP, but were sub-contractors. I'd queried up-front whether crews were SP's, or were 'Home-Depot pick-ups'. I was led to believe that all were a part of the SP 'family'. The results I returned to, however, provided little evidence of SP's having much supervisory control over the job or the crew. PS: just received a call from the owner-Thomas. he seemed more interested in explaining how the above was all OK (or was my fault) since all had supposedly been 'fixed' (not); also shouting, demanding payment and offering 'legal' threats. customer-care indeed. Bottom line opinion; premium price for a less-than-premium and very painful result...never again. read more

From start to finish I was impressed with the Southern Painting team. The owner Thomas sent Kris out to give me the initial estimate. I had a figure that day and a formal write up later that night. As we were having other work done we asked for referrals for tile work and designers (to help choose colors) and the ones they referred were top notch. When it came time to start the job Hector and his crew showed up and got to work on what turned out to be a 6 day job. They painted every wall, some ceilings, refinished stair rails and re-painted our kitchen cabinets. They worked clean making sure to put covers on the floor and furniture and always put their tools up at the end of the day. Everything came out better than we expected. I will say that we got a few bids before we started and SP was near the high end BUT I dont regret the decision at all. You get what you pay for and I have piece of mind with their guarantee. Disclaimer: we did NOT get our cabinets painted by Southern Painting. However, we had a great consultation with Thomas, the owner. We chose another painter due to a previous consultation. Unfortunately, we chose the cheapest painter the first go around. It was a terrible experience. As soon as I reached our to Thomas, he came out personally to asses the destruction of our home. He walked me through the process and materials that would be used. He made calls right then and there to ensure he could get the products to start the rehab of our cabinets. Southern painting had a very competitive price and communicated with us efficiently. They will definitely be on our referral list. Professionalism and quick communication are my biggest priorities. This review is based solely on my brief but not so positive electronic interaction w the owner, Thomas. First, I sincerely apologize to Thomas for sending 2 inquiries via Yelp app. That was unintentional as I messaged many painters that day. There's actually a feature on Yelp (which I wasn't aware of at the time) that automatically sends the same inquiry to similar businesses so I think that's how he received and was clearly bothered by a second inquiry from me. His initial response was short but friendly enough. He requested I call him but I wasn't in a position to do that so I responded via email to his initial response instead. The tone of his response to my reply was clearly irritated and he again requested I call him. By that time, I was hesitant to call him based on his unfriendly and irritated responses. I got another email today via yelp app related to second and unintentional inquiry I mentioned above. His reply verbatim: "I've already replied to this email, please stop repeatedly emailing me." I'm just astounded at level of rudeness. If this is his idea of attracting business, it's having opposite impact. He basically seemed bothered by my interest in using his service. If he's this rude and unprofessional with a potential customer, I can't imagine how he'd be once you've signed a contract with him. Buyer beware! read more

What a horrible experience. We had our home remodeled and completely painted. We had pay someone else to have some of it redone to fix what was poorly done. Many of the expensive items (lights, speakers) were taken down to make painting easier only to be lost by them and they refused to fix or replace blaming everyone else for their mistakes. They low bid to get the job only to then whine and complain about all of their work demanding more money. Thomas admitted he had many lawsuits. They would not repair their poorly done work unless we paid more for items that should have been part of the remodel. What a bad experience. Thomas was incredibly professional as was the crew he sent. We are thrilled with the finished product. I called back in July for a quote after receiving a flyer for 10% off painting. Thomas and I set up an appointment. He called to confirm. He called before coming. He was on time. That alone impressed me. Thomas and I walked all the way around the house and he explained in detail exactly what the "base" quote covered from caulking to cleaning to painting. We choose to pay to have the old caulk removed and having all new caulk installed. We also choose to have the lintels painted and to have our front door completely sanded and stained. We asked Thomas to have his crew make a repair to the eaves where a rodent had chewed a hole. We then received three other quotes. Thomas was right in the middle of the four quotes BUT he offered a higher quality paint AND his crew was bonded and insured. None of the other crews recommended to us had that added level of professionalism. I called Thomas in October to ask him to come and requote the job since so much time had elapsed since the original quote. He stood by that July quote; started the job the next day; and his crew was finished two days later. The crew accidentally hit our pergola with a ladder. It left some scratches, but nothing serious. Thomas apologized profusely and offered to repair or take $100 off the price. We chose the $100 off and my husband restained the pergola. We would use Southern Painting in an instant. read more
