I can't say enough good things about this company. I was in Sugar Land to help my mother-in-law get her parents' home ready for sale while she was also helping get them set up in an assisted living facility. I was only supposed to be in town for 4 days but on the third day, during a medical appointment, we discovered that Grandpa had cancer and that he would need a biopsy in the next couple of days. The morning of the medical appointment, I had called Next Door Painting to see if they could come out that afternoon to see our small project. We only needed the entry way freshened up and I was worried it would be too small of a job for them. They were able to schedule me for the same day for an estimate, and then they kindly moved the time back when the medical issues made us run late. Customer service called their agent in the field while I was on the phone to coordinate everything for us. When Judah came to the house, we were beyond tired and his kindness and professionalism was clear from the beginning. He had a good eye for the jobs that needed done, and a clear understanding of what we wanted. He didn't try to up-sell us on more than we needed and advised us on some other projects that could be done in the future if desired. Even though the job was small, Judah treated us like we were important to the business and sent us a professional and reasonable quote. Bad weather had pushed their own jobs back for some projects, so they could not come for about 10 days, but they communicated that clearly and helped us come up with a day that would work in between all the other things we had going on. Finally, the paint that we thought would work ended up not being suitable - I think it might have been old, but when Judah and the team noticed it wasn't right, they went and bought better paint for us and didn't even charge for it. They said they wanted it to be a gift to us given everything the family was going through. The night before they came to paint there had been another difficult medical procedure for Grandpa and my MIL was alone in the house. They were schedule to arrive early, and I asked Judah to coordinate to be let in by our realtor because I wasn't sure that my MIL would be up to the task of engaging with a painting team that morning. Judah handled it all with ease and grace, and the finished job was absolutely beautiful. This company didn't have to be so kind to us, but they have made a hard time easier and we are very grateful. This might be an unusual review to leave for a painting company, but I think it's important to let folks know when a business does a great job and shows such heart. For context I should say that I was taught by a professional painter father while in his crew. The painting crew was all one can want - professional, neat, pleasant, communicated well, asked questions as needed - easy to be around. They matched the paint color for me (I am color blind) and even covered my neighbors' cars. Wow! I acquired 3 quotes prior to selecting Next Door; they were not only the low bid, but the most comprehensive bid as well. It was clear to me that Erik knows what he is doing and "there is just no substitute for knowing what you are doing". He was responsive, arrived when he said he would and mentioned things I would have overlooked. The entire crew performed beyond my expectations. Very happy with my new house and Next Door Painting. I spent my first night in my newly purchased home on my hands and knees - scraping paint splatter and cleaning paint off of the floor, trim, stairs, countertops, and appliances until my fingernails broke off and bled. The improperly applied drop cloths protected no surface, but the tape managed to peel the varnish from my wood floors. There is some kind of white substance dried into my carpet. There were, and still are, dead bloody bugs dried into the paint. Each day I find a new issue to add to the running list of repairs needed after letting Next Door into my home. This company singlehandedly ruined the joy of being a first time home buyer. I worked so hard to purchase my first home and I am absolutely horrified after hiring Next Door to paint it. $8,500 plus fees for an absolute unprofessional mess. I deeply regret my choice in hiring this company. I should have spent an extra $3,000.00 and hired CertaPro Painters - who will be fixing the nightmare. Yes, this company does offer a "warranty" - that is great for the sales pitch, but after they are done ripping you off and splattering paint from top to bottom you will never want them to step foot inside of your home again. read more

I got a bid to paint the exterior of my house from Judi and the day he came to get the deposit he said the owners wanted an extra $2,000 Because he under bid the job. After receiving estimates from 5 different contractors/painters for an exterior paint job on my first "flip," I chose Next Door Painting because the price was reasonable and I felt I could trust them to get the job done right. Judah is the person who came by for the estimate and I can't say enough good things about the level of customer service he provided. He was incredibly thorough about the scope of work and made sure to go over every detail with me so I knew all the things that their "paint job" included. I never knew how much cosmetic details and prep work they would be performing before the actual application of the paint. (You don't really notice the small damages or the wear & tear of a home exterior but it makes a difference on the value of a home when you're trying to sell it.) U fortunately, I had to cancel because there was a change of plans in the flip, but Judah was still very polite and helpful. After he made 2-3 trips to the house to go over details and confirm exactly what I wanted done, when I asked if it was possible to get my deposit back, he went out of his way to get it approved. Next Door sub was interested in moving on to the next job instead of giving me a quality job. Very little, if any, supervision was present. I had to point out missing areas which needed paint. Windows were not masked prior to spray painting and painter left job without cleaning the paint off the windows. Painter left without leaving me touch up paint or the color formula. I should have written this a while ago-- we had Next Door paint out the inside of the home we bought. This included walls, ceilings, baseboards, doors and even refinishing the kitchen cabinets. They were so easy to work with-- from the quote to scheduling the work and following up for touch ups. It couldn't have been easier which was surprising given the size of the project. They are bonded and insured and have a supervisor who manages the whole project end to end. The painting of everything turned out really well. The best part though by far was the kitchen cabinets. They were a very light oak color; nice cabinets but a bit outdated in terms of color. The team removed the doors, took them offsite to sand them down and spray them. They turned out perfect-- I get compliments on them all the time. They also refinished a stair banister and fireplace mantel. Both were painted black so these were no small jobs. We had these painted white as well and they turned out beautifully. Their prices were fair, their work was great and the overall project management couldn't have been better. This is the very best contractor I have ever used. I had them repaint all of the walls, trim, doors and completely repaint kitchen cabinets. The price was very good and the quality was amazing. The work is beautiful. A year later (a few days ago), some of the paint chipped because of humidity issues in our bathroom. I called them and they immediately sent a team over to carefully reprime and paint the wall to prevent this from happening again all at no cost. I have to say this is remarkable service!!! read more

Probably one of the worst experiences of my life with a hired contractor. the work they did was very spotty and the supervisor was never around, I had to become supervisor to a 2 man team that could not even speak English. I complained several times of the work and the absence of company supervisor support to no avail. Not only were they weeks late in starting, when they did it became a burden on me as I had to follow their every move due to lack of company support, or I would had paid alot of money for a very unprofessional job. I feel like they should have paid me for supervising the job. I would never recommend this company to anyone and would warn those seeking a professional service to look elsewhere. read more

we were totally pleased with the service of this paint company from beginning through end. Erik came within a few days of calling and gave us a very thorough plan and estimate. We knew exactly what would be done and what to expect. Juan, the painting team manager was very good at organizing and leading his team and did a great job, as well. The initial estimate was 3-4 days and because of their efficiency, they were able to complete the job in 2 days. Erik gave us a couple of days to check out the job before coming over. There were just a couple of spots that needed some addional help (Sheetrock problem, not painting), and they came right over and completed the additional work.
