Anthony and the Southern Seasons team did a great job! Here is an outline of my experience with our install of our new York unit: Sales/Estimate: Anthony showed up on time for our initial meeting and immediately pushed me away from the more expensive units and directed me to something that would accomplish my need without a lot of added complexity or cost. He was never pushy and took a 'let's cross that bridge when we get there' approach to problems that would have led to more work/pay for him, like adding an additional air return, for example. We ultimately went with the mid-tier option listed on his quote, primarily because of my concerns with supply chain of more complex electronic parts down the road, more than anything else, and got a more conventional setup. His installation labor warranty was 50% longer than other installers I had look at our system. I received the quote in a reasonable amount of time and he answered all my questions over a phone call and a series of texts, never once acting annoyed at the level of detail I wanted. His estimate for the exact same SEER unit as his nearest competitor was 30% lower than their quote. My wife and I figured going with Southern Seasons was a no brainer. Installation: The install team showed up promptly at the appointment time, in drizzling rain and got to work installing my unit and running new ductwork. They took extra precautions to do set up tasks in the crawlspace vs in the rain to keep my new components as dry as possible prior to install. The guys were great to talk with and let me come out and ask questions during their install. They accommodated my request to reroute the air handler condensate drain line mid-install without hesitation and accommodated install of a new smart thermostat, even though I had overlooked ensuring it was on the estimate before they started the install. There was no debris or trash left behind and my install was complete in a little over half a day. They were even great with my dogs during the thermostat installation inside the house. The crew did a fantastic job and when my nitpicky engineer self went to inspect their work after the install was complete I was very impressed at the cleanliness of their install and their attention to details. Ductwork was laid out well and will not impede my future access to items in my crawlspace, it's actually far better than before. Close: If there was one Achilles heel in the process I do wish that the information regarding the product warranty and utilities rebates was a little better laid out. Ive been told everything is being handled and I think the goal is to make it as headache-free as possible with the homeowner not needing to take much part in it. Most people probably love it being taken care of for them but as an engineer Im hard-wired to be the one driving this aspect of a project, particularly concerning my own home. A suggestion would be maybe a more direct summary of expectations/written outline of the process via email or located on the estimate on when to expect certain things to arrive via mail/email may be helpful (i.e. I will register your unit with the OEM by Friday, expect warranty email in two weeks). It's a little more open-ended than I would prefer but Im completely comfortable that I will receive the needed information as soon as it's available and thus does not negatively influence my rating as this is a personal hang up. There are truly good people out there y'all. Let me tell you about one. My elderly (former) neighbor lost the heat in her house last week. She is stubborn and determined to not take help from anyone! She spent one night last week in her house, when it was 15 degrees, covered in blankets with a plug in heater. After begging, pleading, plotting and eventually threatening her I was able to get permission for a repair man to come look at her HVAC. We were all expecting the worst. She is on a fixed income, receives government assistance and could not afford a pricey repair. This is the original unit from when the house was built who knows when. A good friend gave me Anthony's name. He owns Southern Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning out of Rolesville. After explaining to him on the phone that she had been without heat for the better part of a week, he rushed to her home, fixed her unit (it was a simple fix, THANK GOODNESS) and treated her with love, respect and kindness. And then he told her it was free. That's right. He drove from ROLESVILLE, fixed her HVAC and then told her it was all on him. She needed help and he was glad to help her. He knew her financial situation and he didnt want to burden her further. "Everyone needs a warm place to sleep at night." I cried when Anthony told me. I cried when my neighbor told me. We live in a condo and our HOA has a company they like to use to do annual inspections of all the units. Their technician came out on a Friday morning and after the inspection told us our unit (which is quite old) was leaking and needed to be replaced completely, ASAP. The technician also said that we needed to turn off our AC until we addressed the problem--not exactly what you want to hear when humidity is 120% in early October. We were worried about being liable for any damage from a potential leak but wanted a second opinion before we spent $7,000 replacing our HVAC system. We called Southern Seasons on the recommendation of a friend and the owner, Anthony, was able to come out that next Saturday. After inspecting the unit, Anthony determined that the issue was actually a clogged drain pipe. He fixed the pipe, replaced the filter and went up onto our building's roof to check that the system was working as it was supposed to from up there. We were able to turn our AC back on immediately and more importantly, we likely saved thousands of dollars not having to completely replace our unit. We were grateful that Anthony was able to come out on a moment's notice, on the weekend, and he informed us that there are no overtime fees for weekend service calls. We were extremely pleased with this company's responsiveness and professionalism and with Anthony's courtesy and knowledge. The furnace portion of my almost 11 year old gas pack died and a friend recommended I call Anthony at Sourthern Seasons. Anthony came out the same day and confirmed it had a cracked heat exchanger which is common for Carrier builder models plus a siezed inductor motor and possible issues with the control board. I received quotes from several other companies for repair and/or replacement of the unit and Anthony provided the best price and warranty. In fact a quote from one company to replace just the failed components was almost as much as Anthony provided for an entirely brand new gas pack unit! Anthony and team came out and replaced the old Carrier unit with a quality Trane gas pack. They were efficient and very friendly but also professional. The unit was installed in only 3 hours and it works great! We're very happy with the service Anthony proivded and plan to use him for any hvac needs in the future. I had called this company out about a month back for a system breakdown on our upstairs unit.The owner of the company showed up within 30 minutes of our phone conversation. He was polite and courteous and attentive to our concerns. One thing that really impressed me was he wore shoe covers in our home without even being asked. He diagnosed the problem is a bad blower motor and installed and motor off of his truck to restore operation until He could have a warranty motor shipped in. He returned two days later and install the motor for an extremely reasonable price. I was completely blown away by the experience. I had them back out today to perform maintenance on all three of our systems and again I was completely and totally thrilled with the level of service and professionalism presented to us. I have used Anthony with Southern Seasons for a couple of years to do routine maintenance, so twice a year I would see him. He has always done a good job and is not afraid to talk to explain any issues. On July 14th, 2018, I had Anthony install an upstairs unit and a media filter for my lower unit. I had received quotes from companies that had large overhead and they came in thousands more than Anthony was estimating. Anthony offers TRANE products and offers a 3 year warranty on labor. Guys and Gals, you can not beat this. Most companies offer 1 year, few offer 2 year and only 1 that I know offers 3 years. Local professional with low overhead trying to feed his family. Anthony made time out of his busy day to troubleshoot an issue I had. I had a previous air conditioning company out earlier that day who stated I need a lot of work done. I just purchased my home and everything was inspected and repaired. Anthony came out re-checked everything and found out one of my thermostats wasn't wired to my unit, and this solved my issue now I know not to turn on this thermostat. I have not had any issues since he diagnosed my issue. Anthony didn't charge me (although I tried) and was very respectful and honest.
