Read the reviews and thought for sure they would be booked. Called and spoke with Beth and by chance, we were in luck. Booked the room and made the trip. For those of you looking for a 5 Star Resort, keep looking. Anthony's by the Sea is very laid back. Come and go as you please or relax by the pool or on the big patio. The breakfast that Beth serves every morning is fit for a king and will keep you full for hours. Beth and Smitty the owners are as sweet as can be and make you feel like this is your home as well. We will be planning more trips to Rockport and will stay here again. Anthony's by the Sea is a true hidden gem in Rockport.

They have trash cans by the stair case that smells terrible with roaches and flies and we have to pass it every time we go into our room. We booked this condo expecting a relaxing beach vacation. Instead, it felt like every day came with a new surprise--and not the good kind. Let's start with the condition of the unit. The walls were literally falling apart, and the bathroom had water leaking through the shower wall from the unit above us. When we reported it, we were told they couldn't do anything because the unit upstairs wasn't managed by them. While I understand that may be true, it doesn't change the fact that we paid for a room with water leaking into the bathroom. The bathroom light also had a mind of its own. Every time you flipped the switch, it took a couple of minutes to turn on, like it was still asleep and needed its morning coffee before deciding to work. The TV wasn't much better. The remote wouldn't change the channels, so if we wanted to watch something, we had to get up every single time and manually change the channel on the cable box. After putting up with all of these issues, we were finally told we could move to another unit--but only on the last night of our 4-night stay. Even then, the replacement unit wasn't ready until around 5:00 p.m., so we spent most of the day waiting. Then we had to pack up every single one of our belongings and move everything ourselves... just to sleep there for one night before checking out the next morning. To make things even worse, the replacement unit didn't even have the pull-out couch that our original unit had. It was just a regular couch, even though we booked a unit that was supposed to accommodate six people. We also spent most of our vacation using only one bathroom, despite paying for a two-bathroom unit. After all of that, no refund, no partial refund, no discount, and no real compensation was offered. Chairs are full of rust (nothing like the pictures from Vrbo and staff at Laguna Reef) patio table was very dirty and rusty. The frame from sliding door was also rusty and kind of hard to pull, very dirty. The furniture from the living room are in poor poor condition. Coffee table was wobbly..it felt like it was going to fall apart. The Tv is mounted crooked (necks were hurting) the small table on the wall is also slanted not straight. Drinks were uneven..had to be very careful to not spill anything. The couch is filthy underneath, full of dust and dirt, rug is also dirty. Not good for anyone with allergies. Linen smelled like they have been dirty for a while. I had to buy a blanket and meds for allergies. Not very friendly from staff or locals. My husband and I took a walk on the pier (no rails) very dangerous for little ones. A person from the office walked all the way down to the pier to make sure we were guests. He asked if we were guests and for our room number. Hopefully it wasn't because of our skin color. I definitely will NOT go back. I know they have recently been bought out. A few changes, no longer garage pickup or clean towels. That's not such a big deal but no coffee maker in the cabin and in all the years in the past: the security-cleaning deposit was given back into your account. Was informed today( after I had to call) that that was now included in your stay. That should have been made clear up front upon booking. We make it a diligent habit of thoroughly cleaning our cabin before we leave. Between no coffee maker and the other little perks, we were short changed in our stay this year. I have always taken your business cards and also word of mouth to promote this resort but I now have to think twice. Just not the same as before.

There are potholes that fill up with water that should be fixed immediately. The first speed bump if you go over slightly more than 5 mph. Your car will bottom out. They do have new ownership, so perhaps given time they will fix that situation. You will notice immediately how small the spaces are and how close together they are. I could constantly hear my neighbors particularly when they were drinking. The dog park needs to be sodded. They do have a lot to do. They have a nice pool overlooking the bay. The location is incredible as are the sunsets. Apparently, a lot of of people like this RV park so I am quite confident that I am in the minority. I do like the manager and she will do the best that she can for you and will give you 100%
