Been coming here since 2001. We love the shaded pool, cozy cottages, deck chairs and dock. They are laid back in many ways that benefit the consumer. However in the last 2 years there have been a few things that could be improved. My biggest thing is the ice machine. The ice machine is gone! They even have the ice scoop still hanging on the wall but no ice machine. No promise of it's return, either. I love Pelican Bay Resort but please fix the ice situation. On the night of our arrival, the property lost power in a weather-related incident. The property is unattended, so there was no way to contact anyone other than by using the Booking message feature. We waited for some time to see if the power would be restored, but there was no progress. Oddly enough, the property had a generator running that powered the swimming pool and hot tub. Nothing else worked, though. We had to check into another hotel. I later contacted the electric company and they advised that the power was restored just after midnight; we would not have been able to wait that long. I understand that these things happen, but the property was absolutely unwilling to issue a refund for one day of our stay. The property is old, and it smells old when you enter the rooms. The carpet had not been cleaned for some time and there was a great deal of dirt and debris present. The bathroom had a sewage/septic tank odor for the entirety of our stay. Part of this could have been related to the first night I took a shower. I turned on the shower to let the water heat up and stepped out of the bathroom. When I returned, the entire room was flooded because the shower drain was clogged with an unspeakable filth. Luckily there was a plunger in the room, so I worked on the drain for ten minutes and got it to clear. The smell never dissipated, though. There is no housekeeping, you must strip your own beds and collect dirty linens, and they do not provide amenities such as toilet paper because they are now an AirBNB. There is no mention of this on the Booking site. The final night we were at the property there was no hot water. I should mention that I used the Booking message feature to notify the property of all of these problems--again, outside of normal business hours there is nobody there--but they did not respond until after I had checked out of the property. Do yourself a favor; choose a different property in Rockport. There are plenty of others available. read more

I love this place! We arrived late and had to leave early but the lady was VERY accomodating and took care of me via phone. The cabins and the mini-suites are so cute. I love that there are quiet hours. We were on the road for a ton of hours and it was nice to get into our room and everything was nice and quiet. read more

The perfect cottage getaway! The room was immaculately clean. Kitchen was truly fully stocked. Sponge, dish soap, and paper towels were already in room. Plenty of towels which is always great! Grounds were so clean. Pool and playground area were very well maintained. We spent lots of time fishing on the pier! Brought our 3 year old and they had a great kid friendly area with seating and wood siding about halfway down. The pier was by far one of the nicest piers I've use in Rockport. We love staying at pelican bay resort. We have stayed in both the hotel type rooms and the spacious cottages. The cottage is everything you need fridge, bedroom, pullout couch, your own bbq pit. The staff is always available and more than accommodating. Everyone is friendly, and if you need your privacy that is respected too. We caught tons of small speckled trout off the pier. The new lights are more than enough to draw the fish in and seems to be the best pier around. read more

I recently stayed here and it was AMAZING!! They're so kind and so helping as well! The maids were exceptional on getting the things we needed for the pull out bed and the the extra towels and blankets!! The cabin was so clean and had everything we needed as well! I also left my apple watch there and they went out of their way to look for it along with shipping it back to my house. 100/10 service won't ever stop coming here!! read more

I stayed in one of their cottages and it was so nice! The price was comparable to a hotel room, but we got a free standing cottage fully stocked with kitchen gear, coffees and even granola. There were extra soaps and lotions in the bathroom and rocking chairs on the front porch. I will definitely choose one of these cottages over a small hotel room every time. Our cottage was well shaded in what seemed lie a grove of oak trees. The staff was very nice and let us check in a few hours early without an extra charge. They also allow pets for a small fee, so next time I'd definitely want to bring the dogs. I also love the private pier for guests, it's scenic and had plenty of seating. read more

Cute little cottages with a pool and hot tub. Each cottage has an assigned parking spot with a few spots for guests/additional cars. The 1 bedroom cottage I stayed in was very clean. The walk to the pier wasn't bad and definitely long enough for people to socially distance themselves. There are bbq pits at each cottage, but just didn't have enough time there to enjoy all the amenities appropriately. Only downfall is that it describes the one bedroom as being able to fit 5 adults even though it only has a bed and pullout sofa...so I'm not sure where the 5th adult is supposed to sleep. Other than that, good experience overall. I will keep this place in mind for future visits. read more

I love staying here at PBR. It was my second time bringing my kids and they loved it, all over again. If, peace and tranquillity, is what you've been searching for, this most definitely is the place to stay. Our cottage was so home-y and quiet and love that each one has their own grills to bbq on. Stayed in one of the cottages. Super cute and spacious! Accomodations and grounds were very clean and well kept. Check in was fast and staff friendly and welcoming. Sofa sleeper was lumpy and full of springs, which is typical of most sofa sleepers (so no surprises there). Our third person just made up the couch instead and slept comfortably. My wife and I came here for a mini-vacation. We like quiet, out of the way places. The little cabins and the rooms here are all packed in pretty tight, but it's clean and cozy. Our room is right by the hot tub and pool, so I was concerned about noise over the weekend, but it was no problem. Our room is super-clean. And it's just a short walk down to the bay and lighted fishing pier. I didn't fish, but did relax under the gazebo at the foot of the pier. It's been a wonderful stay here. You're close by wonderful restaurants of every sort. I'll definitely return soon. read more

I loved the cottage we stayed in! It was reasonably priced and very private, it's own little near the beach house. This cottage was very clean and had an efficiency kitchen and even rocking chairs on the porch. Parking right next to the cottage. We were in town to see the Whooping Cranes, Sandhills and Roseatte Spoonbills. We also enjoyed photographing pelicans and visiting the Old Tree at Goose Island State Park. BEST OF ALL, the maids and people who manage the resort are very honest and helpful. I left two of my expensive lens in the drawer of the bedroom. The maid found them and turned them into the front office, who called me but we had left town to return home. But they brought it to the mail center who mailed it using my credit card. All arrived safe. I will definitely stay there again! read more

The layout of the cottages makes for both easy driving and enjoyable walking. Pelican Bay has a secluded path to its own pier on the Bay. I have epilepsy and we go on family trips we like to rent cottages or places with balcony's so that I can smoke(Delta 8 legal in Texas) outside and keep my seizures under control. We got charged for smoking inside even though they saw me outside or in my car smoking, greeted workers, etc. I knew we were going to be targeted for it, because it has thc in it. To be lied on saying we smoked or vape inside when we were seen outside, especially since my son was with us and we will always go outside for him. I've never been charged on leaving a smell at any cottage or hotel I've stayed at, we constantly travel. Which leads me to believe they smelled it outside while driving by or talking to us and already made up their minds that they were going to charge us no matter what. God forbid I choose to smoke Delta 8 and not live my life on pills for epilepsy. read more

I really liked this place. It was clean and had great access to the bay. The staff was friendly and it has great scenery. We had our baby with us so we spent more time in the cabin than what most people probably spend. An updated TV and wifi would be great additions, especially considering the price you pay. First time staying here. I was a little worried when I saw the location, as it sits right on a busy highway, but it felt nice and secluded once settled in. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. I stayed in one of the hotel style rooms (not a cottage). It was nice and clean, very quiet, poolside. No pool noise could be heard once I was in my room. The pool and hot tub area is beautiful, with comfortable seating and a lot of shade. There is a nice gazebo and a playscape for kids. I decreased my review by one star for a couple of reasons: first, the walk to the pier is a sidewalk that turns into a drainage ditch that goes downhill behind the property. It is very doable but there are other places that offer better access. I understand they had to work with what they had available, but still.....now, the pier is very nice once you're there, a lot of nice seating, just a chore to get there. Next, the entire resort is very tight/cramped, almost claustrophobic. If you meet a car on the small, winding road that snakes through the cottages, you have to either back all the way out, or find a parking spot in a cottage that isn't occupied and try to back into it to let the other car pass. It happened to me twice while I was there and it was difficult both times. Lastly, the location is next to the airport, so there are frequently planes flying overhead. Again, nothing the resort can do about this, but it can still be bothersome. There's really nothing that would make me not stay here again, but it might not be my first choice. read more

Don't expect flashy lights, crowded streets, loud noises here. I found this resort on Groupon and called for more information. The woman who answered was very helpful and answered all my questions at that time quite thoughtfully. Groupon also showed that the rooms I was interested in were not available. Not only were they able to get us rooms Groupon was showing as unavailable, they also prevented a room change altogether in one of their awesome "cottages"; This originally wasn't an option! So, the cottage...has EVERYTHING you need for a very comfortable stay. Kitchen utensils, towels, blankets, plenty of seating, ice maker, napkins, coffee maker, soap, lotion, etc etc! The room itself smelled freshly cleaned when we arrived. We had our own BBQ pit along with our own private porch with rocking chairs. My girlfriend labeled the cottages as "super cute". The resort is about two minutes from a bait shop and a good fishing hole, Rockport beach is about 10 minutes away and Corpus beach roughly 30 minutes. We made a trip to all of these. For those like us who plan to shop there, HEB & Walmart are about 5-10 minutes away. We also spent time in their very hot and relaxing Jacuzzi. The private pier was the cherry on top. Absolutely loved this place! I would definitely call it a hidden gem since you barely even notice the sign off of TX 35. The cottages are amazing - full kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, utensils, glasses, coffee cups, dining room; full living room - couch (sleeper), recliner, coffee table, tv with plenty of cable channels; bedroom w/ queen bed, additional tv, end tables, desk, closet w/ hangers, extra pillows and blankets, ironing board and iron; bathroom w/ hair dryer, plenty of towels, lotion, body wash, shampoo. The clubhouse which has wifi also has board games, tv, pool table and access to the pool and hot tub. You get your own parking spot and each cottage has its own patio out front with two rocking chairs. My husband and I were able to sit out front and enjoy the ocean air after the kids went to bed with a glass of wine. It was absolutely perfect. I really liked that heb and Walmart were just right down the street, Rockport beach was just 10 minutes, the Copano Bay Pier was just 5 minutes away. Oh, and PBR also has its own pier if you don't feel like driving anywhere. Big plus! We will most definitely go back! Even thinking about going back next weekend for Memorial Day! ;) read more

Spent 4 days here, loved every minute of it! The cottage was clean, spacious and with a full kitchen! Rocking chairs on the porch shaded by beautiful oaks. The walk to the pier is a short walk but if you have fishing poles and stuff to carry, bring a cart there are a few stairs. Nice pier with a few benches. There is a small airport across the road but don't let that scare you, we heard a few planes in the morning but nothing at night. Didn't bother us at all. No internet in the rooms, but there is in the clubhouse. Which is great if you want to unplug! Quiet with a great staff. We will be going back! read more

I really wanted to like this place. It is very cute and the staff is very friendly and eager to help. My first night I came in at 11pm and tried my key in my room door. It didn't work and the office was closed. Tried the after hours number but got a message that they weren't accepting calls. Thankfully the key said what room it was for and I found a cottage with that number that the key fit in. Thankfully it didn't have anyone in it. The next day I had to change rooms and ended up in mine which was even more musty and moldy smelling then the first. I came in to two dead cockroaches. By morning there were two live ones. Though no fault of the staff who fixed the problem quickly, people at the pool decided to crank up their truck stereo for several hours while out at the pool. There's a lot of potential here and it's adorable but wasn't a great experience. read more

Very charming setting and great possibilities....too bad cleaning staff seems to care less or is considerably short-staffed...been coming here for years, but seems like there is a new "sheriff in town" who is not concerned with cleanliness or upkeep....our tile floor had our socks/ feet black within an hour and our TV screen looked like it had been wiped with a dirty rag...cabin smelled fishy and air filter vent was brown....fridge was super loud, too.....visited during midweek in March and in early AM the bottom and steps of pool and "hot tub" were still dirty with brown spots; pool was only being cleaned with automated cleaning machine that had a full bag of leaves it was dragging around...sticky spills in community center....pool table not functional at 75cents a game...we were also missing the 2 front porch rocking chairs at check-in and reported it to front office, whose suggestion was to retrieve a couple ourselves from another unit....random trash / wrappers scattered in grass and unrolled hoses/ exposed sprinkler systems....too bad...hopefully this place will get some TLC soon! p.s. no heated pool as advertised----only heated spa/ hot tub, IF staff available to turn on... read more

DISASTER -- EXTREMELY disappointed. First time renting The Lodge for family reunion...burned candles to control exterminator spray/stuffy smell, front door does not lock, lights inoperative throughout, doors falling off closets, old dingy bed spreads, landscape not maintained, no privacy for The Lodge, filthy, had to clean, sweep, mop before adult kids/families arrived -- of course, maintenance and cleaning crew unavailable. Prices on website not what they charge, so beware -- will never return -- Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn in the future -- no need for kitchen if pigs sty and can't use. read more
