The place is owned by the little guy out back and the taller lady at the front. The female owner is VERY knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. She will patiently listen to what you need and spend whatever time necessary looking up your parts and be sure to give you all your options, regardless if a $10 item or a $100 item. She is no pressure, and honest about any experiences they have had if you ask for her opinion. The husband is ok, you can tell he is busy, but he tries to listen and help you, and often refers you to his wife at the front counter for help. It is my understanding that he used to run the service dept at K&K Kawasaki in Vestal many years ago. When they first opened and I was looking for an inspection, he gave me crap about my taller than stock handlebars and even measured the height to the seat and told me I was over by a couple inches. Having had the handlebars on for over 15 years, I was about to tell him what I thought and leave, but he seemed to look past it, and kept looking the bike over, so I gave him a chance to prove he wasnt a dick. Glad I did. I had a problem with my horn and he let me fix it and kept on with the inspection. He passed it, but did look everything over. I have purchased tires, throttle cables, fuel additive, some gloves, etc... from them when stopping in. I recently called around for new tires again and their prices were as good as the best price I found online! They have been at their location now since probably 2007 or 2008 and I expect with their good part prices and the amount of service they do, they will be there for a long time to come. A welcome addition to Vestal. Stop by and give them a chance for your motorcycle and ATV needs. I am glad I did.

I had a flat on the highway and had to slowly drive on the shoulder for half an hour with a deflated donut!!! I got out at exit 80, and luckily saw this repair shop! The nicest guy on the planet helped us changed our flat, and luckily he had the tire size we needed. At the waiting area, the sweetest doggie, Ginger, kept me company the entire time. After he changed the tire, he even tested it on the road! I was shocked bc it's the first time this has ever happened for me. I usually get my tires done in queens, and no one cares about what happens after they switch out the tires. He even helped me pump up my donut! Turns out I was lucky bc he was actually about to close shop. This place is wonderful, and I am truly grateful. There are great people on this planet, and this guy is one of them! Though it was a shortened holiday work week, they were able to squeeze me in at 4 pm Friday. I called during my drive up to let them know I would be late due to crash and construction delays. They close at 5 but said they'd do their best. When I arrived at 5:15, my service technician, service manager, his son, and the owner were there to greet me. They assured me it was fine and my car was whisked away for its inspection. I got a chance to speak with the owner who told me VanDervort has been around for over 100 years at the same location. We had a heartfelt conversation about my medical journey, medical miracles like hip replacements, cars, and more. Soon, my car had passed inspection and I was free after many months in which I was not able to drive, to go. At the end, there was a sweet surprise that, when I told my cousin about it during my trip back, she said, "I'm crying" (tears of joy).
