I had two spots in our backyard that could potentially fit a putting green, and I wanted the real thing, not putt-putt. That's exactly what Southern Turf delivered. We were close to having our landscaping company build it. I'm really glad we brought in a specialist instead. Mark came out, measured both areas, picked the one he thought worked best, showed me the design, and asked what I wanted. I told him: tough, hard to play, something that simulates real golf. That's what we got. Letting Mark design it the way he thought was best was the right call. The customer service was incredible. The pool company had left the drain area unfinished, so Mark drove to Lowe's, picked up a drain cover, and came back to finish it himself. He even updated where the irrigation should run to make it a fun, usable four-hole green. That level of attention to detail, not just letting things slide, was consistent throughout. We also had them install artificial turf in the other area. With young kids, Mark thought about details I wouldn't have, making sure it was soft underfoot and wouldn't get too hot. He really listened. He came back a week later for a walk-through and cleaned up the edges to make sure it was exactly what we wanted. The price was very reasonable for what we got, and the end product is so much fun. The green is tricky. You have to get the pace and angle right. I searched for a artificial grass company and found this one on Yelp. With 5 stars and many reviews it fit my bill. I filled out a web form and then was soon contacted by Lindy. She arranged a time to come by and survey the small patch of my front yard that has had dying grass since the trees overhead have gotten older and fuller. She came promptly on time, took measurements and made recommendations on the type of turf based on my plans for the surface (nothing). Later in the day, I got a bid from her and I signed the online paperwork, sent in a deposit and they scheduled a day to come out and install. They showed up on time, did the installation. They also cleaned up the site with a power blower and left me the remainder of the turf for me to use however I saw fit. There was a slight miss where they didn't cap one sprinkler head out of 10 and so the sprinkler was pushing up against the turf on my test run. They came later in the week and fixed it to my satisfaction. Lindy was on top of all this including the scheduling, the visit to go over the completion checklist, as well has handling the crew to get them back out to fix the lone sprinkler. Additionally, during the day of the installation, another Southern Turf staff member came out to survey the work just to check on the progress. We hired Southern Turf Co. (Austin) last Fall, and immediately (within weeks) noticed a few issues (very prominent seam, lumpiness, and turf detatching from the edge in 4 places), and gave them a call. They requested photos of the items we had concerns with. Easy. No problem. Sent. Weeks pass, and when we finally heard back, we learned that we had to pay an additional $250.00 fee for a "site visit". Not cool, but what choice did we have? We paid, and it wasn't until a month later, 2 days before Christmas, that they sent someone to take a look. We had no heads-up as to when they would arrive - not even a multi-hour window. Fortunately, I was home, and able to walk the gentleman through the issues, and he agreed that everything we felt needed to be repaired did. He also pointed out that there was not enough fill applied during the installation, (which led to the lumpiness), and said that needed to be corrected. He said he'd reach out to me in early January, after the holiday which was absolutely reasonable. After multiple calls and emails to Southern Turf, throughout late Jan, Feb, and March, it was April 29th when we were notified that we're on the schedule for June11th with an arrival window from 8am to 5pm. As written, I suspected the email was automated, and that's fine, so long as someone is actually monitoring the inbox, right? And I felt somewhat assured that we were heading in the right direction because "Erin" was cc'd - likley the same "Erin" mentioned in a handful of reviews here, on Yelp. I responded, asked a couple of questions, and never heard back. Today, (weeks later) on June 4th, I received the SAME email message however today, it was to notify me that we're scheduled for June 16th, also with an arrival window from 8am to 5pm, and also with "Erin" cc'd. To be clear, this email was not to re-schedule. It was the same email I received before. So we've got 2 dates scheduled...which is it - the 11th or the 16th? Which of these dates should I take off from work? You're guess is as good as mine. I responded to the email, and included the correspondence trail since we dropped THOUSANDS with this company last Fall. I'll call in the morning, and I imagine, will get nowhere. I hate to leave this kind of review - I really do, but given Southern Turf Co. seems to actually respond to feedback here on Yelp, perhaps this is the most effective way to communicate with them. For me, all other means have failed. Our experience with Southern Turf has been incredibly poor and I would not recommend going with them for such an investment. read more

I did a month's worth of research and reaching out to multiple companies for quotes and ultimately decided on Southern Turf for their responsiveness, professionalism, and best quote. The other companies had poor customer service and their quotes were $5k higher for the same job. Our Southern Turf advisor, Caylie, was very easy to work with and she responsive. We are absolutely in love with our new turf! We have a small front yard and two big dogs, so the grass that was there never stood a chance. The yard also had poor grading so a lot of mud/water/nastiness would pool near the front gates of the house. I was always against artificial turf because I thought it looked very fake, but after one too many muddy paws, we finally decided to get rid of the grass and install the turf. After seeing the results, I wish we had done it sooner! The folks at Southern Turf did an excellent job from beginning to finish, including re-grading the entire yard per our request, installing metal edging that matched our fence, and meticulously laying down the pet-friendly turf even around our existing pavers and in-ground vines. The job only took one day from beginning to finish, as per promised by our turf advisor, Gemma. The crew worked super diligently and cleaned everything up at the end of the day. We have had multiple contractors come to the house over the past year to fix random things, but none were as reliable or timely as Southern Turf. Overall, we are SO pleased with the results. Wow oh wow! I could not be more pleased with my new backyard...I HAVE ONE NOW! My friend used Southern Turf to blanket her yard and she never misses an opportunity to tell me how much she was enjoying it. Every call we have she mentions she's sunning and enjoying the lush green. Finally, I decided to give Southern Turf a call for myself. My husband is a stubborn gardener and wanted to make sod happen in our 500 square foot back yard. We have an 85 lb dog who is just a year and a half old and runs the area ragged, so before we got the artificial turf it was COMPLETELY barren: dusty dirt everywhere. I was so worried about the turf looking fake, wearing down, falling apart or smelling and Susan at Southern Turf answered about a million questions and talked about her personal experience with the many dogs she has running over her personal turf. Not only is this thing durable and amazing, my dog freaking loves it. He rolls around (I think he likes the scratchy texture when he's rolling) and it's soft and carpet-like on my feet. We can pick up his "number twos" easily with poop bags just like we did on our nasty old dirt yard. The pee has not smelled anything up; we are planning to rinse heavy-pee areas once a week as maintenance but was told that was just a precaution. When it rains: no more mud! When it's dusty: no more smelly/dirty dog!! Most importantly, I feel like I have a real yard. It is nice because we have a small house and this feels like a new space to visit, entertain, work and enjoy. I contacted Southern Turf to do some turf work in part of our back yard. It was an area under trees that would never grow grass. When we originally talked, they were going to do a large 1200 square foot area or so. But then my wife changed her mind and wanted a smaller area because she was concerned about the heat and potential health issues from plastic baking in the sun and she wanted a concrete design. Let's be honest, turf is basically plastic carpet that looks like grass so I get her concern. On the concrete, southern turf does not do concrete work. They do pavers. And that's not something we wanted so we got a concrete company to pour a pad before we did the turf. So the scheduling, communication, and their willingness to work with you is 5 stars. 6 stars if I could give it. Here's where they fell short, On the initial install- mid Nov ish, the base was not flat. It looked like mini rolling hills. There were all sorts of high points. Another thing on the initial install is that the crew loved to just drive though the yard. Now, this isn't a huge deal as I told them it's ok because they were dropping of a heavy piece of turf. But what aggravated me ( again, Southern Turf stands by their work) is that it didn't like the initial curve they did and asked them to make a softer corner. Basically I asked them to add about 5 square feet of turf to make a transition better. They came back a day or 2 later to fix this. And they drove on the yard. They really didn't have a reason, could have carried what they needed. Anyway, they did end up fixing that transition and it looked much better Also, they left about 2.5 gallons of base on a different area of they yard close to where they parked their truck. Really wish they would have cleaned up better. Anyway, back to the install. So, it's wavy and looks like crap. I speak to the owner ( super nice ) and he's willing to have the crew come out and redo it. I said let's wait until after the Holidays because of travel and family in town etc. He also would not accept payment until they came out to level things off. Christmas came and went, a few weeks into Jan and I got a phone call asking when they could come back over and redo the work. I told them whenever. This crew comes over about a week later, doesn't drive through the yard, and make it nice and smooth. They even commented that the original job looked bad with many hills. I think the turf can still use a tuck job as there are a few areas that could use stretching. So, 5 stars on customer service and standing by the install. 3 stars in doing it right the first time. Yes, apparently there was an issue with the base compactor, but I feel that the initial installer should have noticed it looked bad and halted work. 3 stars on the clean up. Again, I had some piles of base in my yard and when they pulled up the turf to level the base they got quite a bit of infill on the adjacent grass. 5 stars on the owner Scott caring about this customers. read more

Very strong 5 star review for Southern Turf Co. I have a fairly small backyard, about 350 sq ft. I had zeroscaped the area a few years ago but stubborn Texas weeds took over and had my yard looking like the jungle - which isn't ideal when you have a dog. Susan at Southern Turf came out for an estimate very soon after I requested a quote, brought a ton of turf samples for me to choose from, and had a lot of good ideas and guidance for me on the process, etc. We scheduled my work for a few weeks after that when her crew was free, and even after a few rain delays Susan kept in touch and we found a good day to get the work done. I'm honestly a little shocked by how great the quality is - not just of the turf but of the foundation they build up beneath it.
