After injuring my shoulder/scapula in pickleball 8 months ago, I was in excruciating pain every morning when I wake up. I went to 2 orthos and another PT without much help, and almost gave up and resorted to getting a shot. Good thing I didn't (!!) and found Dr. Kara Lowe at Southland. Within 3 sessions, she was able to release my shoulder and I saw dramatic reduction in my pain. She is experienced, insightful, and collaborative throughout the process. I went to Southland Physical Therapy, Irvine, because I have had lower back pain for many years and it worsened when I fractured a vertebra 8 years ago. Because I've gone to PT for this pain in the past, I had low expectations. That changed immediately! On the first visit my therapist, Kaitlyn Raymundo, did a thorough evaluation of my entire body, my alignment, walking posture, etc. which had never been done in the past. With her working and manipulating my body, plus the exercises she had me doing, I soon felt better. I'm am now at the end of my six weeks of PT and it's been life changing! My back pain creeps up occasionally, but by doing a simple exercise, they showed me, it goes away quickly. Being able to manage it in this way is so helpful! I highly recommend this practice. It's large, with quite a few therapists and many assistants, but they all work together nicely and are very organized. The energy in the room is very positive and it's fun to watch the other patients doing their exercises. BTW, I am 86 years old. read more

I was referred here by my PT sis who lives out of state but went to PT school with one of the owners. I was experiencing tingling on my left arm from a combo of poor work habits and not balancing my chest and back workouts. Dr Sam Ha took such great care of me, from the manual therapy treatment itself to the workouts he prescribed to me. 6 weeks 2 x a week got me back to normal. It's important you don't miss your appts and workouts. Each appt takes a full hr split between the PT and the floor room exercise. I prefer therapy that hurts but in a good way because I found it more effective than the times I had to go with someone else who was lighter on the hands. Dr Ha is really good at what he does and also has great manners. I selfishly waited until after my treatment to write a review since he's popular . I traveled from the other side of the ocean and randomly chose this clinic during my trip -- little did I know I would encounter Sam, a physical therapist who would transform my recovery journey. I am one year post-hip surgery. Over the past year, I worked closely with my surgeon's specialized rehab team，but my recovery reached a plateau. During that time, I went from knowing nothing about the musculoskeletal system to becoming someone who actively tries to understand every signal from my body. Then I met Sam. After just one session, he understood my body better than the others had. I will never forget opening the first home exercise program he sent me -- I was genuinely shocked by how simple it was, and how effective. I was inspired by this experience that I shared it in a few posts on Rednote, one of the largest social media platforms in China, reflecting on my recovery and how my understanding of healing has changed. I was very happy when I was going there every week since my therapist was great and I was making progress to deal with my knee pain. After weekly visit in Feb, I tried to schedule 2 more visits with my therapist but the front desk told me they didn't have the schedule of Mar and they would contact me once it was ready. When Mar came, nobody called me and the day I was supposed to see my therapist, I called and they said I didn't have the appointment. No one had the note that I wanted to make the appointment and follow up. I thought it was very unprofessional and disrespectful and decided to not going back. Maybe they found their error and called me to have me come back but I had made up my mind already, and my knees were getting better after learning how to train myself at home. Then after a while, I got text messages that I had an outstanding balance. I confirmed I have the receipt for my last visit and texted them saying I shouldn't have had the unpaid bill with the screenshot of the receipt, no reply. I have kept received the text messages and the outstanding balance is $250 now. I called them to confirm that I don't own anything but nobody picks up my calls, the billing dept nor the front desk for scheduling appointments. Leaving message doesn't do. no one calls back. I don't know what is going on there. read more

The person who I spoke to on the 1st phone call "forgot" to schedule my appointment. I have the email confirming registration as well, which I only would of gotten if I had an appointment. Started PT for a broken ankle in early 2026. I saw a few different doctors (Shanice, David, Kara, Jeremiah) initially and liked them all. Ended up doing most of my treatment with Dr. David Nham. He was awesome; knowledgeable, encouraging, pushed/challenged me, and I believe my recovery was expedited because of the care given by David, the SPT Team and the Aides/Assistants. This place is great. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the doctors are all very knowledgable. They work on athletes and they helped me get out of pain instantly and gave me exercises and stretches to help improve to reach my goals. They also have an app which has all the stretches and exercises making it easy to follow. This was my second time coming here. The first time was back in 2010 where they Irvine location was small. They have since expanded to 4 offices. My second time was also in Irvine, same plaza but in a bigger office. This places is well organize and is a well oiled machine. My main PT was Jeremy but I also worked with Dave. Both of them were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. After 5 months of PT, Jeremy was able to help me use my hand again. He is a miracle worker! I would come back here again. read more

A cozy and compact place where you get your physical health rehabilitated. This place is usually crowded and appointments are somewhat hard to get especially if you specify certain therapist. The stuff members are really helpful, friendly and mainly address the physical health of the clients. Each appointment session is about an hour. First 30 min include various treatments (massage, stretching) by a therapist targeting the needs of the client. The second 30 min is mainly for assigned exercises in a well equipped albeit a bit crowded exercise room under the supervision of a therapist aid following the direction of the therapist. At the end of the session a handout with instruction is provided to the client as to the specific exercises that the client should perform at home in between visits. All progress is recorded in a computer file for later references. I appreciate the approach they are taking and has been a client several times now. read more

One wouldn't expect someone to enjoy going to physical therapy but I do! The clinic at Southland physical therapy is excellent. The staff is great and you can tell they really care about their patients. The staff is multilingual as well so don't let language deter you from going to therapy. The facility is well maintained and there is plenty of parking. Each physical therapist sees 2 patients an hour so you spend half an hour with the therapist and half an hour exercising. Within the half hour with the therapist, you get a variety of treatments from manual therapy, stim, icing, heat, adjustments, etc. Your second half hour is with the aide that guides you through your exercises to ensure you have the proper form. The therapist I see is Dr. Shanice Lowe and she is excellent. She was able to explain to me what my issue was after looking at my MRI when the orthopedic surgeon couldn't. She tailors the workouts and homework specifically to your needs. She makes therapy fun and engaging and has fingers that seem to be able to find all the knots in your muscles. Because of her, I'm able to recover faster from my injuries. I have gone to many physical therapists before and Southland is one of the best! read more

I am so thankful for the amazing professionals at what I consider the best physical therapy establishment one can ask for. The skill level is bar none. The care, compassion, knowledge, and kindness are so appreciated, and yes, my back is feeling much better. The team of Dr. Paul and Daniel on intake evaluation and treatment is simply amazing. These two men are miracle workers as they know the body and necessary healing techniques as well as recommended exercises. They need to get a new receptionist. Just walking into the place it smelled horrible. The place was packed. Nowhere to sit down for others. They shouldn't schedule so many people if they have no seating for the elders to sit down. The receptionist was talking to another elder lady and when speaking to her she was not making eye contact, but raising her voice as though she was so old that she couldn't hear. She came off very rude. And then to the next customer, she also was rude to a mom and son and talked down to them. The mom was told wrong information and was confused but the receptionist talked down to her being sarcastic. probably the last time I'm coming back here. read more

One of the best and well managed physical Therapy locations I have been. Dr Sam & Dr Shenize and their associates helped me a great deal with my hip arthritis issue. Front desk associates were very courteous and did a great job for scheduling and re-scheduling. overall I am grateful to them and will go back there after my hip replacement surgery. Came here for rehab after two surgeries and both of my surgeons were impressed with the rapid recovery I made thanks to Dr. Ian Lee and his team. Even along the way when my orthopedic surgeon and myself, a physician, were stumped by my post-op pain, Dr. Lee was able to localize the issue and not only provide reassurance, but was able to modify my treatment plan on the spot. It was incredible to walk in with significant post-op shoulder pain and have it nearly instantly resolved in the exam room. When you come here, you're greeted by friendly staff who somehow always know your name. Dr. Lee is 100% on time so best to show up early. My hour long sessions were split into two parts. The first was a 1/1 with Dr Lee in the exam room and the second part was in the group room with his assistants and other physical therapists. There is absolutely no slacking off here in this group room. I don't know what motivational vitamin they're infusing in the air, but somehow all the staff here can turn any exercise from mundane to fun, a big feat whether it's for grandma close to her nap time or for a competitive marathon runner with ADHD. After your session, go home with a PDF print out with precise and clear instructions of the prescribed exercises you need to do at home. They also update the exercises in the medbridge app which has detailed video tutorials of all the exercises. I'm not looking forward to my next injury but when it happens, I'm looking forward to coming back here 10/10. read more

Right from the start I had a good feeling from the front office. I was seen immediately by a doctor who evaluated my problem by questions, and a physical evaluation included a massage to determine all aspects of my issues. Then, I was introduced to my exercise therapist and he went through the very specific exercises for my problem. He instructed, and stayed with me and explained how each exercise would help. He then printed out each exercise so I could easily be reminded how to do each exercise at home. Each visit included a visit, evaluation and massage by the doctor, then time with the exercise technician who reported to the doctor who evaluated my progress and adjusted my exercises according to my progress and abilities. I was seen twice a week and followed up with home exercises. Within 3 months I was ready for discharge and worked with the exercise technician on exercises to do at home. The doctor also noticed I had a problem with balance and printed out instructions to do at home. Again, the exercise technician stayed and worked on these exercises with me. It has been two weeks since my discharge and I am doing very well. I give Southland Physical Therapy the very highest recommendation. read more

This place honestly changed my life and is hands down the best physical therapy place I've ever been to. I've been to probably 3-4 physical therapy offices over the years for various sports-related injuries, and every previous one honestly just felt like they were going through the motions - you'd come in and do more or less the same set of exercises and it begged the question "what's the point of even going here if I'm gonna do the same exercises at home." Southland is the opposite. They made a point of trying to ensure the exercises would be progressively challenging, always giving me the maximum amount I could handle, and coming up with creative new exercises every week. It sometimes felt more like going to a workout with a personal trainer than a normal physical therapy session. I came in with an ankle that was partially torn in 3 places - and they were able to get me to a place where I avoided surgery and can play basketball again. In the process, I think I really learned what PT can and should be, and am continuing to do the exercises they gave me at home read more

I was referred here by a family bec he knows the owner, Dr Park. I got in right away for initial evaluation the same day after my appt with my Ortho MD. Unfortunately, I ended up not continuing with this clinic because the front desk scheduler I spoke with on the phone has a my-way-or-the-highway attitude. I worked in healthcare as well and it is hard with my shift schedule and now having to do PT. Whoever that front desk person is could use customer service skills and empathy. She made it hard for me to schedule. How was I to adhere to my PT's plan of care if I cant get in a reasonable time frame for me to complete my PT?! After looking for another clinic I ended up cancelling going here altogether. It's too bad bec I really like the PT who evaluated me -Dr Trevor O'Dell and also his assistant who helped me with my initial exercises. I like his plan of care and explanation of my condition . Those two I gave the stars for. But I wont put up with front desk attitude. I ended up going to another clinic whose front desk is more professional, empathetic and worked really hard to try and accommodate and understand my hospital work schedule as well. read more

I started going to Southland PT for a broken elbow injury. I went in there just a couple of months ago barely able to move my arm and in complete pain. I had never had an injury like this before so I was a bit skeptical about doing PT. I was worried that my arm would never be the same again. Dr. Andrew Hodge confidently helped me through the pain and discomfort with patience and guidance. He put my mind at ease each and every visit. He was very knowledgeable, professional and extremely helpful. He also educated me throughout the process in a very detailed manner and always made sure my questions were answered. I was given a guide of exercises to be followed at home along with all the information necessary should I have any issues while performing my exercises. The ENTIRE staff at Southland PT was also great! The front desk girls were extremely polite, professional and warm. I came in for elbow pain (right arm couldn't fully extend without some pain and was uncomfortable bearing weight) and a nerve pinch (my left hand digits were always numb and tingling, driving long distance would make my back and neck flare up). I worked with Dr. Ian Lee and the treatment was very effective and he was also very patient in explaining what was causing my symptoms and the treatment needed. The receptionists are so friendly and took the time to remember my name immediately. They were also very helpful if I had to cancel, reschedule or late.
