I sent a picture of my feast to my dad (retired coast guard, Katrina era) and he immediately noticed the Coast Guard air crew wings in the table. Having just moved to the Northshore , previously from Westbank, I picked this place for my birthday dinner. There were 6 of us on a busy Sunday. We joined the waitlist on our way to the restaurant and had a short wait when we arrived. All of us loved what we ordered! Sunday is the only day they do breakfast food too, so I ordered the breakfast bowl. Really simple, but really really good! Our waitress was AMAZING. She even humored my 90 yr old grandma when she complained about the celery being too stringy. Hee hee. Afterwards, my son and I played giant Jenga outside and had a blast. Had dinner with the family last night and while the wait was long, it was well worth it. Definitely recommend in checking in with the yelp app if you plan on dining here on a Friday night. Our food was delicious, as usual, and I don't know if someone new is in the kitchen but fries were nice and crispy, cooked perfectly, not soggy at all! Two words. Sonic burger. Actually...probably would have preferred a Sonic burger over the brisket burger we ordered. Asked for it to be cooked medium. Came out well done. No flavor. Buffalo chicken sandwich was strange as the Buffalo sauce was made with a BBQ base. Very thick and no flavour. The chicken itself was also very dry as it was overcooked. We were in Slidell on a work trip looking for good places to eat. After reading the great reviews on this place we decided to give it a try. All of the food was so incredibly heavy. And the portions were beyond huge. It made me feel queasy after eating a small amount. I'm not super picky about this usually but the atmosphere and lighting is unpleasant as well. Something about the lighting hurts your eyes and head. And to top things off, when I got about halfway done with my drink, I realized there was an empty sweet n low packet floating in the cup. I didn't use a sweet n low. But on the plus side, our waitress was absolutely lovely and very attentive. The burgers looked like they could be ok but not worth finding out in my opinion. read more
