Well, it's been a while since any food establishment has surprised me. I have to give this place their props! Everything was simply delicious. From the hostesses, to the waitress (Nicole), to the food. Straight phenomenal. Great Friday night festive atmosphere. We ordered the Southside Reuben and it was the best that I've had in a long while. We also ordered the hot roast beef "peaux" boy and it was one of the best. I even ordered takeout to have my husband and son try the food. I will definitely be back to try that delicious bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo with the 'tada salad! read more

MY family and I visited this restaurant for lunch. Let's start with service. Our waitress , Alisa, was rude and did not do basic things like put our order in. We ordered two items that we never received. She also never checked on us after receiving our food and never refilled our drinks. The food was okay. Nothing great but not nasty. The major problem we had was when I found a hair in my muffaletta sandwich( which happens ). A manager never came to apologize or anything. If it was just hair in the sandwich then I would have given more stars but the horrible service on top of the average food just was too much. I will not return to this restaurant and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

We have been trying restaurants from yelp recommendations on our entire family road trip through the south, but this was the best one we've tried. The Irish gumbo was a delight, but the remoulade on anything was the real way to go. The crab stuffed mushrooms were totally worth ordering for an appetizer, and the tuna salad was a great option if you want to go healthier. Also, the nod to local veterans was super sweet. read more

Really enjoyed this place, very busy when we went but that didn't slow the service at all got our drinks be food in a reasonable amount of time. I had the yellowfin tuna grilled with the salad and sweet potato fries, I thought it was a lot of food for the price and delicious as well. This is the second time I have eaten here. The first time I had the fried seafood platter, which was excellent. This trip I opted for the soft shell crab platter which comes with two sides. I opted for the Mac and cheese as my first side, and a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo for my second. I also ordered the fried onion rings for an appetizer. The onion rings were seasoned well and batter fried to perfection. They were thin cut but delicious. No disappointments there. The soft shell crab platter was good also. My only gripe is the gumbo could use a tad more seasoning. But all in all the meal was great. I went in a very busy Saturday night but the wait was not long. The place was a bit noisy but it's to be expected. The service was great even for a crowded and busy venue. Wow! We wanted a burger place and this place was awesome. One in our party commented that their burger was the best hamburger (brisket) they ever had, Perfectly cooked. Wednesday night is $4.00 appetizer night. I ordered the spinach & artichoke dip. Thought I would get a smaller portion for the price, but it was the full size & it was THE BEST I've ever had. We found this place on yelp and thought we would try it out. Very good Red Beans and Rice. Lots of food and flavor. Our waiter Kai was great. So friendly and knowledgeable. My husband was happy to find out that the owner is a former Marine like himself. He ordered the Roast Beef Debris Fries and the Big Mo Jama Sandwich that was huge and must have been really good because he ate all of it. They offer a discount to check in on yelp and didn't give us any problems using it. We will eat here again on our next stop home. read more

We had a group of 8 and stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. The food was about what you'd expect from a roadside diner, but not great. Half of our group's food arrived 15 minutes before the other people's food, so the first half of the group was done eating before the second half got their food. The table next to us laughed loudly about a large party they had thrown with over 100 people where several of the guests tested positive for COVID. None of the employees or patrons wore masks and the restaurant displayed a giant "Don't Tread on Me" flag. Tell me you're a racist without telling me you're a racist. That flag was designed by Christopher Gadsden, a slave trader, and has become a historical indicator of white resentment against blacks. Gross. read more

On a last minute whim we traveled to Slidell and then Yelped for a restaurant. This one was very easy to find and had great reviews. As always, the reviews did not steer us wrong! We were warmly greeted and, luckily, seated at the last table available. (This spot is obviously a local's favorite and became quite busy before we finished our lunch). Our waitress, Nickole, was awesome! We ordered the fried mushrooms with remoulade sauce (fried wonderfully and the sauce has just enough heat to it!). Husband's French onion soup was very good but a few too many onions for his taste. He chose the muffuletta (1/2 order was HUGE). The olive salad was great albeit heavy on the oil. I ordered the Irish gumbo, two styles served with a wall of potato salad in between. I preferred the chicken & sausage gumbo over the seafood gumbo. I guess they figured since we ordered to go they could just reheat the fries and not give us fresh fries. Since they wouldn't have to face us eating the rubber fries. And no it wasn't because they sat in the box we live right around the corner. They were like chewy rubber. We even tipped a good amount because we believe in supporting restaurants during these times but we don't go in we order to go. Kind of messed up. Won't be going back. Thanks for bad dinner.
