The first night we were in town we ate here the food was amazing and service was great! We were a party of 7 and they got us right in. First time having tuna and it didnt disappoint! We came back on our last night in slidell and they were very busy we had to wait about 45 minutes to be seated no big deal... our server seemed to be overwhelmed, food was burnt and meals didnt come out at the same time so some of us were finished with our food before others even got their food.. but the manager was awesome came to apologize offered us free desserts and even took some items off our ticket. It may be the ambience; I love the whole bar in the middle of the restaurant and maybe I would have been better served to sit there and eat. I have been completely underwhelmed with the food. It was just Ok, we went for brunch with two kids, but they didn't have a kids menu The fried oysters, were good and they offered enormous portions, but overall it was underwhelming. It has a bar and a quieter back area, but it seemed as if the front room was attended by more staff. Slidell has very few breakfast places, that impress me. After a swamp boat tour, the husband and I wanted a nearby, non-fancy lunch. The husband got some wings and the gumbo, and I got a French dip sandwich and onion strings. Everything was hot and fresh, and perfectly represented what it was listed as on the menu. Service was decent, though it dropped off a bit towards the end of the meal when more tables were seated around us. My only real issue is that, when I showed the Yelp coupon on my phone to the server, she actually TOOK my phone with the check to ring it up. I don't know about you, but relinquishing my phone to a stranger felt...wrong. Surely there's a better way to handle these coupons. However, this was a pleasant, serviceable lunch stop, and I would return here again. read more

Food is excellent for a hole in the wall but people need to be aware of any sandwich ordered with beef is 2$ more the server told us about the upcharge on rueben sandwich which we accepted but failed to let us know about the extra charge on big mo jamma other than that I'd come here again just need to let the public know about the price changes!! I went with my girlfriend today for the first time. The food was fantastic. We split the spinach dip and the seafood platter. The portions are amazing! I love the WWII artifacts and memorials that adorn the walls. We will return and I would like to give a shout-out to Matt for his very friendly service. We felt very welcomed. read more

I love this place. I eat there whenever I am in Slidell. It is a combination of serious food, a professional wait staff, and a fun atmosphere. They actually have a wait list for lunch. Everything on the menu is very good and it's arguably the best value in Slidell and possibly the north shore. My personal favorite is the Pontchartrain pig. The onion rings are as good as Popeye's used to be. read more

You would think in Louisiana the best restaurants would be in New Orleans but I kid you not this here is a hidden gem that more people ought to come try! The gumbo here is amazing! Service here was excellent! We were told of a wait but were seated before the estimated time. Text message notifications were sent when our table was ready. First time here. The place was filled and the food was great. We had the steak and seafood platter. The cocktail & tartar sauce was really great; you can tell that it was made there. Atmosphere lively and casual. The food is always great. The service was slow this time but normally is really good. The best restaurant in Slidell in my opinion.

Went out of the way on a road trip to try this place mainly for the stuffed artichoke (a rare commodity to see something like this in the south). I however was dissapointed with the Artichoke due to it not being cooked long enough. It was very chewy and not edible. Also ordered the crawfish balls which were decent and the roast beef melt which was also ok. The real winner was the stuffed mushrooms. They were delicious and yuge! The girl working the to go counter was also very friendly so customer service here was a plus. I can appreciate the character and charm of this place... just needs better execution in the kitchen. read more

I only gave it 4 stars because I don't normally give out 5 and I couldn't figure out a way to give it 4 and a half. Lots of tasty beers and the food seems to be amazing. I only say "seems to be" because I only had the Rueben. Everything else looks great. But I only actually know that the Rueben was amazing because I ate it. It might be a bit "loud" or whatever. But that's only because it's full of newbies like myself and regulars, being friendly, chatting and getting to know each other. I met a regular, we'll call him "Rick." Awesome guy, had great menu suggestions, we talked each others' ears off and basically he made it fun and comfortable for a lone traveler just looking for a bite and a beer. Have been coming to this place for years. Great food, large portions, reasonably priced. Some of our favorites are the stuffed bell pepper soup on the first Wednesday of each month.
