The quantity of the food is lacking. My wife and I did recently have lunch at the South Town PoorHouse. The portions were needless to say small. We both left hungry. The service was so-so. We noticed a sneaky service charge on our final bill. It blows our mind to spend over $40 for a small lunch. In addition to that there also was a service charge listed on the tab. We came here on a Saturday evening and like all places at that time, it was busy. We did get a table and we parked in the large strip mall parking lot. The service was good considering how busy they were. My husband said the Surf-n-turf sandwich was THE BEST sandwich he's ever had! We also ordered the cheese curds and loved them. The batter won us over. So crispy and most of the cheese stayed inside the batter which is sooo important. They had the good tasting ranch which also makes them a 5 star curd! The location is in a great area with the grocery store, other amazing restaurants to choose from, liquor stores, ice cream, etc. We'd definitely recommend this bar to others. read more

Arrived after leaving another establishment across the parking lot with absolutely horrid service. We were immediately greeted upon finding our seats and served promptly thereafter. To be fair Southtown had been open like two days. The rating represents the ability to grow while the staff is training and they figure out the systems. The inside is nice and open. There's a huge bar seating area and many tables that can accommodate multiple size groups or single tables. There is a raised platform with pool tables and several dart boards. There are tons of televisions circling the entire building. It's a good place to come watch games. Definitely a sports bar feel. The menu is small and typical for bar food. The menu does feature pizza from Duane's House of Pizza which is attached to Southtown. The menu covers the basics of burgers, sandwiches/melts, wraps, Mac n cheese and a couple salad/soup options. Staff seems friendly and personable. Worth a stop and little known currently. Will follow up with a second post in a few weeks. We only had chips/salsa and a couple beers. Stopped in for a quick light lunch, decided on the "new" stuffed mushrooms - they are described on the menu very similar to what Grandma's had. They were not good. For $12 you get 5 on the smaller side mushrooms barely stuffed with wild rice, and someone really needs to show the kitchen how to make mornay sauce, what was in my skillet was not mornay. The less than stellar food was saved by the best service I've seen in Fargo in a very long time.
