Then after the procedure my claim for payment was denied by insurance. I called the office and they told me that my insurance was not a participating group! Really? Why did they mislead me in the beginning that it would be covered and now tell me something different. It's not fun having a $1,480 bill that you did not expect! I take notes on conversations and have all this in writing. Very unprofessional the way they handled securing my business and then taking responsibly or helping in anyway about the bill. And for the actual procedure, the dentist had two pieces of his tool fall into the canal of the tooth and joked with the assistance about this never happened before and they hope to be able to get them out, all while I am speechless due to a rubber shield across my mouth. He did not explain what happened or reassure me that it would be ok. The end result was a three step/appointment procedure and I believe all turned out ok.

Unfortunately it is 2 months later and I still have temporary cap on my tooth. I have been attempting to find a dentist having moved home to do the crown and get it squared away. This leads me to my dilemma and being extremely unsatisfied with my interaction with one of the secretaries who stated her name was "Chris". I have called in probably 5-6 times over the past weeks to try to get my records sent to me via email in order to relay the data to a new dentist. Every time she has stated she would do it and has not been able to send a simple email as well as seeming short and extremely unprofessional. Last week on Thursday I called again and she stated she would send them but was having "computer issues". I then called back on Friday again where she said the same and then followed up in the afternoon where she said the same thing. I had another dentist waiting both days for the data from them. It is very strange that a simple sending of an email has turned into this. I am not sure what is going on with that but it is very strange and has directly affected my health and time and scheduling and I will be following all this up thoroughly as Ive had to scramble and get emergency health insurance and the temporary filling is coming loose. I wasn't in any pain, but I needed a root canal and this office is in-network for both my GEHA and Cigna dental insurance plans. The office is located on Main St. in Williamsville. You turn onto S. Long St. and you'll see that it's on the tail-end of the building. The signage isn't super obvious, so keep an eye out. And they do have parking spaces for you. Check-in was quick and simple. The front office (Lisa) had already called my general dentist to get the tooth and insurance information. So, I filled out a couple standard forms and was almost immediately called in to be seen. The root canal went perfectly, as far as I can tell. It was near painless during the procedure and I have yet to experience much discomfort afterwards. What more can you ask for? It did seem like my tooth presented a couple surprises and took awhile (as is typical), but Dr. Shostad kept me at ease the whole time. Her and her assistant (Jacky) have a great chemistry. I felt like I was getting a personal comedy show and it was hilarious...Dr. Shostad the comic and Jacky the straight man. Hey, hopefully you don't need an endodontist anytime soon...but, this is definitely the place to go if you do. :-)

The waiting area is very accommodating - plenty of chairs, magazines and a TV to keep you busy while waiting for your appointment. Also - the children I saw coming and going were happier leaving then coming - so they must be doing something right for the kids! WHAT - wait - yes - the wait was a bit long, but they told us as soon as we arrived that they were running slightly behind schedule. But even running slightly behind - my MIL was in an out quicker then most dentists or doctor's offices I've been to. Sadly, in my dismissal letter, this was one of my "missed" appointments. This strikes me as callous. I wish the practice was a bit more understanding of these situations.
