Booking this trip was the BEST DECISION I EVER MADE! LOL seriously though. I've been super stressed lately especially because of covid, working from home 24x7 - you guys know the deal. It's been a rough 2020. But yeah I ended up googling different group tours for Utah (been waiting to go here for ages) and ended up finding South West Adventure Tours. From the start, they were super helpful - I annoyed them calling multiple times beforehand about coordinating the flight times, will they still have the tour if only I show up etc (because of covid). They were super helpful and attentive. But yeah let me get to the best part - I booked it 2 weeks before the trip started. I left Nov 9th - 15th on the mighty 5 tour leaving from Salt Lake City. My guide was Chris Vander Wilt - LITERALLY THE MAN! The whole vibe of the trip was awesome - felt like I was traveling with family (I forgot to mention - I went alone). I had a blast - Chris was super knowledgable about every section of Utah we visited + he is so energetic and fun. I never felt alone or left out - everyone was super just down to earth and down to do anything. We came in as strangers and left as the Utah Fam aka The Hoodoos Squad lol. I am definitely trying another tour with Southwest Adventure Tours. I felt like the quality of the tour exceeded my expectations. I've been in another group tour and it felt rushed and this one was not like that at all. I honestly can't recommend them enough. I don't understand why people are complaining about their covid regulations? You are at risk any time you travel - it's up to you to make that decision. We did a 7 day self drive Yellowstone/Grand Teton tour with our 8 and 11 year old granddaughters. Jason and Southwest Adventure Tours planned a fantastic trip for us. This is the second time we have used this organization, and I honestly think we save money by paying them to plan our trip! We love the self-drive option. It includes rental car, hotel reservations, and an app that plans out each day with an array of suggested sites to see, trails to hike, restaurant options, maps, etc. When we tried to plan our trips ourselves, we found it difficult to book rooms, cars, etc. in the national park areas. We think the travel agencies have better connections, and it makes trip planning easy! Southwest Adventure Tours is so accommodating to your personal needs. Jason knew we had our 2 granddaughters with us and highly recommended we add on the Bar T 5 Covered Wagon trail ride and cookout (with family friendly entertainment). So glad we did! They may just be adjusting to these COVID-19 times, but be wary that they do not enforce masks on their passengers or drivers (one out of two in a day didn't have a mask on). Also, the kid who swiped my credit card at their kiosk didn't have a mask on and put my credit card next to his mouth as he waited for the transaction to come through. The return shuttle was also filthy with handprints all over the window. Maybe this was a bad idea to come to Zion during this time, but I don't think this will let up soon, so just be aware. read more

Our driver was nice and knowledgeable and most importantly was wearing a mask during the global pandemic Covid-19. The woman who sold us tickets did not have a mask on which is the reason for the low review. Masks (while not perfect) are a good way to slow the spread of Covid 19 She had sunglasses on. But why wear sunglasses? They do not stop all the sun so why wear them?...oh yeah...they help reduce the sun... Masks help reduce transmission and thats why they are worn. It's not political--look it up! read more

For our Mighty 5 tour we were promised a Mercedes Sprinter Van, but given an old Ford shuttle van with very worn seats and very little room for legs. Two of the paired seats had a large wheel well for your feet. Given that you spend 4-5 hours per day in the van this is far from ideal. Southwest Adventure Tours was unwilling to make any financial adjustments. read more

When I am researching and booking travel, I appreciate it so much when the person I am corresponding with is easy to communicate with and responsive. Jason answered any and all questions I had, made suggestions where necessary, and helped to explain the entire tour we booked so that I would be put at ease (never having been to this area of the US before). Then the day of the trip, our tour guide was super cool. He took us down the backroads and showed us areas we would have never otherwise seen on our own. We saw dinosaur tracks (which my 7yo son was SO stoked about), beautiful scenery, and excellent views. He told us stories and shared history and facts with us, and it was a great learning experience. I am super grateful that we had this experience. I would definitely book with them again in the future for other tours when we come back to this area! read more

My group of 5 women joined 2 couples & a single woman on this Magnificent 5 tour out of Vegas 10/7-13. We had perfect weather (although it was hard to pack for the wide range of usual temperatures, especially the 26 degree morning in Bryce), and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Much of the value of this tour was because of our friendly guide Haydee, who was laid back but extremely attentive, provided on-board commentary about the history and culture of Utah and the sights as we drove along, and led numerous hikes through the parks. There are lots of possible hikes in each park, varying from "easy" to "difficult" and she was remarkably accurate about which trails would be the best for us all, and how long and how difficult each hike would take. She was extremely knowledgeable about the botany and geology of the region, all the while pointing out particularly famous or interesting rock formations and features. Haydee also explained why we were doing things a certain way, maybe a bit different but better than the agenda, which we appreciated. Our group included 4 women ages 62, 63, 65 and 67 (with a previous to trip injury requiring a foot brace) so we got more of a workout on the steps & climbs (not really flat hikes) than we expected, but it was worth it and no one fell and all completed all the hikes in their own time - we helped each other when needed. More experienced hikers (other travelers) were able to opt into their own pace and hikes. Haydee had us change seats every day so that everyone could get a feel for the view from different areas of the 14 passenger Mercedes van, but we never had an introduction to each other at the beginning of the tour. However, over time we got to know each other somewhat, and all 10 tourists got along. There were times when some of us felt rushed to eat (depending on when the restaurant served us) or to get out of the van to start hiking (then forgetting water or sunscreen) and once the group asked for 25 minutes more time to eat. The last hike, along the rim of Zion, was longer than expected, not flat at all, and had a short area that dropped off steeply on both sides (with the path seeming to be only about 4 ft. across and NO railing) that caused fright for some of us. I wonder how the guy in the wheelchair we saw later managed this safely?? This was near Sunrise Pt., but it doesn't show on our maps. All the hotels were clean and adequate for the short time we spent in our room. We had issues with getting TV and WiFi a few nights, and temperature regulation in the room one night, but would have had these same issues if we had booked the rooms ourselves. The days were long, but we appreciated having time to see the most of the parks. We were not on this tour to do shopping or see the towns. The restaurant choices (if there were any) were good (even on my anti-cancer diet of Whole Food Plant Based food). Only our breakfasts were included in tour price, no other meals. read more

We recently toured the southern Utah National and State Parks with Southwest Adventure Tours Mighty Five tour. Everything about the trip was a hit with the 12 of us and we all enjoyed the history and anecdotes from our guide, Dave. The tour was just the right amount of time (5 days) and we greatly enjoyed the intimacy of having a limited number in our Mercedes Sprinter van. The only downside was having to haul a small trailer for the luggage-many of their other vans have their own luggage capacity. The scenery was amazing and surreal, the hikes were fairly easy for the most part, and the organization of Southwest Adventure was evident throughout. Some of the accommodations were a little basic, but most of the stops for food were great. We loved how the guide made arrangements for some of the people to do other things outside of the tour without missing a beat. we would highly recommend this tour and from this experience, this tour company. read more

Geologist/tour guide, Simone was very helpful with the communication and cultural challenges of my foreign guest. She made sure there was plenty of fun and education for everyone. I cannot say enough good things about this company. They are a first class operation from start to finish. We booked the Big 5 tour out of Salt Lake City. I had a few questions after making the reservation and Jason (the owner) responded with emails right away. Our guide Kurt made contact with us the day before the tour began, checking to see that we had arrived, just as the tour company had promised when signed up. Our expedition started bright an early on Monday morning with Kurt arriving early to get us underway. We got into a very nice Mercedes van with captain's seats and large windows. We also had fresh fruit, nuts and trail mix to snack on for our journeys. Kurt was a constant source of information about the area, the National parks, restaurants, you name it. He took great care of us the entire week. Each park had its own charm, beauty and awesome views. Kurt made sure to point out special features so that nothing was missed. The accommodation were outstanding each with their own touch of coziness. The food choices were all in the same range: excellent or better. If you are thinking about seeing the big five national parks in Utah, I cannot think of a better way to do it than with Southwest Adventure Tours. read more

Very friendly staff! We took a 7am shuttle to the Narrows trailhead and had a great drive in because our driver gave us some history on Zion. I didn't catch his name but he was very friendly and helpful :) only reason for not giving 5 stars is that not all of the staff had masks on and they did not seem to care if the passengers wore masks, though all of the people on our shuttles did anyway. I know Utah is not as strict with masks as other places (I'm from Cali) but considering its a national park with people coming from all over the country I would have appreciated more strictness on masks. read more

Highly recommend the Mighty 5 Utah National Parks Tour with SWAT. 3 of us went to discover these parks with a guide and we got very lucky...Adam Bath was our guide, and he was extremely knowledgeable, and made us feel so safe in our travels. Adam was able to guide our experience of the 5 National Parks and Goblin Valley State Park and be very knowledgeable and fun while doing so. He was able to meet the needs of all of our group, which ranged in ages from 8 to 70's. The children were heard to say that it was their best trip ever, and the older folks were heard to say we couldn't have accomplished this without our great guide. Adam was also able to inspire us to want to take care of the earth while traveling. Through unexpected heavy snowstorms or whatever transpired, we had a blast! Highly recommend the Mighty 5 tour and with Adam as your guide! Beautiful parks, amazing formations, mountains, rivers, arches, canyons, this tour has it all! The hotels and restaurants were also extremely well chosen and we were so grateful throughout for the attention to detail and our guide's sense of humor, in addition to his knowledge of Utah's history and geology. The itinerary from Las Vegas was perfect, Not only did we love the national parks we very much enjoyed the interesting sights along the route. Can't say enough about Shybree, our tour guide. My husband and I took the Mighty Five trip from Salt Lake City. As it was late February, we were the only ones on the tour. The benefit was our guide Rob, was able to guide us on 35 miles of hiking; the best being two hikes in Bryce Canyon. The hotels were excellent except in Moab, (an old Best Western). The tour included six lunches which were perfect for a trip focused on the outdoors. As an added benefit we were able to visit Goblin Valley and Dead Horse State Parks. Five of us went on Southwest Adventure Tours' "Mighty Five Adventure Tour" from Salt Lake City during the third week of September. We joined five other people and the tour guide in a modern, comfortable 14-seat van for a Monday-Saturday excursion. In succession, we visited all five national parks in Utah: Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Arches, Bryce Canyon, and Zion, plus brief visits to Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument and Goblin Valley State Park. I had visited all of the national parks previously as a tourist and for business. I thought I would be jaded, but our guide was as magnificent as the parks themselves. Southwest Adventure Tours did an outstanding job in planning the agenda, arranging for meals (all breakfasts and lunches were included, as were two dinners), and--through the tour guide--providing a wealth of information about Utah and the parks. This leads me to say that our guide--Ann Evans--raised the quality of the tour from merely spectacular (you can't visit these parks and not get blown away by the scenery) to truly memorable. Ann was extremely attentive, provided on-board commentary about the history and culture of Utah and the sights as we drove along, and led numerous hikes through the parks. We did a family trip to Bryce, Zion, and Grand Canyon with Southwest Adventure tours over 4th of July for 4 days. Our guide, Jason (also owner) was amazing and so knowledgable on the area and what were the best locations for our group of varied ages. We travelled with friends and had a total of 5 kids, and were paired with another middle aged couple and two younger men in a large van. Our group got along well and Jason was fabulous in engaging the kids and getting them excited and interested in the placed that we visited. He is organized, knowledgable, easy going, and pleasant to be around. We are already planning our next family trip with Southwest Adventure Tours because we had such a positive experience! read more

I just finished the "Circle Tour" and it was fabulous. It was a 9 day tour of 8 National Parks and many other points of interest. Our guide, Cindy, was wonderful. It was so much more than I expected. I would definitely recommend this tour and this company. The only negative is that we all had to fly in and out of Las Vegas to begin and end our tour. That city is just so congested and carnival like.... a real hassle. Would be great to begin in Salt Lake, Phoenix or Denver. Other than that, I loved it. read more

Southwest Adventure Tours provided my wife and me and tremendous vacation experience. My wife and I had always wanted to take a tour of the National Parks located in the Southwest. The year of Covid-19 seemed like a good opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Our local travel agent wasn't very familiar with the Southwest region. I googled tours of the southwest and found Southwest Adventure Tours (SAT) and started corresponding with them. I gave them some basic information of what we wanted to do, how we wanted to do it, and how many days we wanted to spend on the road (in our case 12 days). SAT developed a tour of the southwest that was customized for us. They were friendly, informative, and very responsive to our questions. Because SAT is familiar with the region, they not only provided us with an itinerary for the national parks but made additional helpful suggestions for additional places to go and see; national monuments, state parks, museums, scenic drives, etc. They provided a detailed itinerary which included our airline flights, a rental car, hotels, driving directions, park information, etc. All this information was contained on an App that we could download to our phones. Therefore, we always had all the information with us in a convenient place and format. We spent twelve days exploring the beautiful southwest doing it "our" way. SW Adventure Tours cancelled our trip 18 days before the departure date. Cost us hundreds of dollars in non refundable airfare, not to mention the dollars spent on clothes, shoes, etc. purchased just for this trip. Have seen many reviews where tours were canceled. If you think travel insurance covers this, think again...tour cancellations is a normal exclusion on most policies. Very, very disappointed with the unprofessional way in which this was handled. read more
