He was here for about 15-20 minutes and told me I needed to upgraded my equipment and charged me $200. He said there was something unplugged, which there wasn't. After he left the Internet was still not working properly. I found Simply Wired on Yelp, and boy am I happy camper. He came out for a free consultation, sent me a quote within a few days and a list of equipment I needed to purchase (my old equipment was a few years old and I just wanted to start new anyways). After receiving all the items, Brian came out and set it all up. My 'wire closet' or whatever it's called was so messy and full of old wiring and equipment that we couldn't even close the door. Not only can we close it now, but it looks amazing. He also used some of my old equipment to help boost the signal in certain areas. During the visit, the outlet box/cover was damaged, and I was told it would require an additional charge and return trip to replace it, costing hundreds of dollars. Prior to starting on that issue, I asked about a problem with our low-voltage landscape lighting. Within the first moments of troubleshooting, wiring was cut in two locations, the issue remained unresolved, and the wires were left exposed, which I had to repair myself. Ultimately, the GFCI issue was traced to two GFCIs on the same circuit (from a prior homeowner), but this was only determined after the visit. The total bill exceeded $400 for less than an hour of work and a single GFCI/outlet that likely cost less than $25. Based on the overall experience--damage during service, unresolved issues, and pricing--I would not recommend. Update: The owner responded stating multiple hours were spent, that all issues were resolved, and that additional work was performed at no charge. My review reflects the final outcome, including the cause of the issue and the total cost. Ferguson has so much to choose from, including hundreds, maybe thousands of items not on the floor, but in different colors, sizes and formats. Even their signature line is amazing - and so well priced. Plus most everything is under warranty and if an item gets damaged upon receipt or in transit, they'll stand behind it. I love that. He also replaced an old and dingy 2ft skylight in our hallway and what a difference it made! He's very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and very personable, like having your favorite uncle over to do some work. :) Peter is everything you want in a contractor. Honest, accurate with his estimate for price and time, hard working and cares about doing it right. We were involved in the whole process, talking through the exact placement and size options and he had very insightful recommendations. He tarped and taped everything off and cleaned up every night so we could use our kitchen each evening, which was really wonderful. He swept up so well you wouldn't even know there was work being done unless you looked at the plastic over the hole in the ceiling. He even did a little extra handyman work I requested (outside the scope of regular skylight work but he was very generously willing and his rate for the handyman service was very reasonable and SO worth it!) since access to the attic is difficult and having the ceiling open was the perfect opportunity to connect the range exhaust correctly to the roof vent (was never done properly by previous owner) which was a huge thing off my to do list! We highly recommend him! Now that our dark kitchen is so lovely and light, I'm already thinking of adding another in the south facing living room, which ought to be the brightest in the house, but the kitchen is outshining it!
