Finally made it this location. The staff is definitely friendly and inviting. Coffee was delicious. Tried their vegan empanadas. Surprisingly moist and chewable after they warmed it up. A bit disappointed on the lack there of only having one sugar free flavor option. I did enjoy how they try to help and cater to your choices. I will go back to try a different drink. Every time I visit Brownsville there is always something new and exciting to see. Sovereign Coffee takes over this side of the city's crown from the other coffee shop that's never open. Small, pristine, and fun, this shop has everything I need at reliable hours. Beans are for sale, so I bought a bag for my sister, and they sell vegan (yes, VEGAN!) pastries from a pastry shop nearby (whaaaaat?!). The coffee menu is standard and with a few specials like the agave latte. I ordered a latte and a cortado and the barista was really happy to practice her latte art on us. She was very lively and fun to chat with! And she told us about the small garden gnome that moves around in their plants. Gear is also for sale, such as shirts, stickers, and totes. Man, if I still went into the office I would have got a sticker for my big coffee pot. I may just go back and get one anyway. Sovereign Coffee is also on my way out, and seeing as I always go to a coffee shop on my way out from San Antonio, it's great knowing in now have a great spot to visit on my way out of Brownsville! read more

The quest for good coffee is a lifelong passion of mine. In the cities I live and visit, I frequent local coffee shops in search of a well-balanced latte, preferably with a house-made syrup. (I'm known for my syrup interrogations.) I no longer explore options when in Brownsville because this place leaves nothing to be desired. The agave latte is perfection, but I've also tried the Mexican vanilla and lavender lattes and they also slap. Never thought I would find a place in Brownsville that compares to the best coffee shops in Austin and Houston, but Sovereign is indeed the supreme authority on espresso. read more

Having moved from a big city to the valley has been a challenge especially when it comes to finding good coffee. I looked for reviews and suggestions and found this little hole in the wall. What a pleasant surprise! The coffee shop is small but don't let that deter you from trying their different coffees and drinks. I ordered a latte with almond milk and the flavor of the coffee they use was excellent. The latte itself had a smooth texture with the froth made just right! I also ordered a fruit drink from their alternative menu (sorry, can't remember the name) and it was also excellent! Highly recommend this place. read more
