Came to Soya Sushi & Bar on a Sunday around 2 and it wasn't crowded which was nice, very easy parking too! We were seated immediately. It's wonderful because their entire digital menu has pictures which I appreciate SO much! We ordered the sampler for 2 (sushi pizza and croquettes), the 101 roll and the volcano roll. So, even though we ordered the sampler for 2, they brought us the sampler for 4 (which is $56). Because they already brought it to our table, we didnt want to waste anything and chose not to correct them. I'm not entirely sure how they got this wrong. However, everything was delicious. I was leery about the Asian crunch, but the walnuts added a nice mild earthy flavor to the tender salmon. The coquitos were very unique. I've never had fish and curry mustard before. The sushi pizza was fresh and crispy and the croquettes were tasty. While I won't complain about the flavors because everything was delicious, I will complain about the price point we didnt intend on spending. The 101 roll was unlike anything we've had before. A wonderful option for someone who doesnt want to go too heavy on carbs. I dont know how a plantain pairs with salmon and tempura shrimp, but it just works. A little salty, a little sweet, and a decent sized roll. The volcano roll is quite the attention grabber! Piled high with krab salad it turns a basic volcano roll into an extraordinary one. The Kani is fried which doesn't usually happen with volcano rolls and avocado is added to the top. Its a great twist on a classic and the textures are wonderful. Unfortunately, no one came to check on us during the duration of this meal, so it's a good thing we didn't need anything else. For an app, two rolls and 2 cans of diet coke, the total came to over $100. The price point is the only thing keeping me from giving this establishment 5 stars. I would give it 4.5 if Yelp allowed me because the quality is great as are the portion sizes. Im impressed by how poor the service was. Our server never came to check on us. Never got our waters refilled even though we pressed the service button multiple times. The server left the enormous menu at the table even after food was served, leaving the table cramped. We waited 25 minutes for a check (on a weekday) The tables are so crammed together, even the servers have to squeeze in-between tables. They bump into you while you're eating, and even bump into each other. At some point a server was sweeping at my feet, pushing the dirty broom against my feet a couple times and didn't even apologize.... On top of this, the salmon was unseasoned and tiny af. My friends and I had been craving sushi for a while, so we ended up going to Soya. We went on a Friday for their happy hour (4 PM-7 PM). I highly recommend making a reservation, as wait times can get long. Before coming, I did a bit of research and found a link to make a reservation (I couldn't find a direct link on their page, so I had to look it up online). When we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess, who asked for our reservation confirmation. Once confirmed, we only waited about five minutes for our table. Our server, Hani, was really nice and attentive throughout the night. Starting with drinks, they offer 2-for-1 specials. Hani recommended the passionfruit margarita with a Tajín rim, which I decided to try, while my friend opted for the coconut margarita. I have to say, I loved my drink It was flavorful, and you could really taste the passionfruit. I also tried the coconut margarita, it was okay, but the coconut flavor wasn't as strong. I might try the coconut mojito next time. My friends agreed that the passionfruit margarita was the best. I also asked for more drink recommendations, and Hani suggested the guanábana (soursop) madness, which includes coconut rum, rum, guanábana purée, and pineapple. For some reason, I expected it to look like a piña colada but it came as a cute drink with a red purée on top that tasted more like strawberry. I wasn't entirely sure what it was, but it was good! It wasn't very strong (maybe it could use a bit more rum), but I'd still order it again. If you like guanábana, I'd say go for it. Lastly, I tried the tamarind margarita with a Tajín rim, also really good. If you're not in the mood for cocktails, they also have $2 glasses of wine and prosecco, which is a great deal. For food, we started with steamed gyoza, fried shumai, and sushi pizza. I have no complaints, everything was delicious We ended up ordering another round of gyoza (this time fried) and shumai, that's how much we liked them. For rolls, we tried the Doral roll, which has shrimp tempura, krab salad, avocado, and cream cheese, topped with salmon and eel sauce. It was sooo good definitely try it! We wanted to try more, but there's only so much we could eat Even though we shared everything, the portions were filling, especially with drinks included. For dessert, we ordered the Oreo roll. We were debating between that and the fried ice cream, which I low key regret I thought the Oreo roll would be a whole deep fried cookies with ice cream on top, but it turned out to be Oreo crumble wrapped around what seemed like frozen cream cheese and strawberry. I wasn't a fan, the texture wasn't creamy, and it was too frozen, so we had to chew through it. If I could revamp it, I'd keep the whole cookie, deep fry it, add ice cream on top, strawberries, and a drizzle of Nutella, now that would be the I definitely regretted not ordering the fried ice cream or even their brownie The ambiance was good, the usual noise level of a busy restaurant. We sat near the front, so it didn't feel too crowded. It's a great spot for friends or a date night. There's parking in front of the restaurant and nearby since it's in a shopping center. Our server consistently checked on us, and other staff members also came by to clear empty plates and glasses, which we appreciated. Would I come back? OF COURSE I have to try more dishes (and drinks) that I didn't get to this time. A table near us ordered the Coquitos Crunch (I'm assuming it was good because it looked amazing), the volcano roll, and the dynamite salad, all on my list for next time! We came here for happy hour and we WILL be back. We had a great time. The food was great and the sushi was fresh - all at an excellent price point. The drinks were good and can't be beat at 2 for the price of 1. I think the sushi pizza was our favorite. When we first walked in at 6 pm on a Friday, we were told there would be a 45 min wait. Thankfully, we hung around and the wait ended up being closer to 20 minutes as happy hour ends at 7. I didn't know you could make a reservation? We will certainly be doing that in the future. First let me clarify about the three stars, the rolls were great, delicious, generous portions. I was unhappy that when I got my miso soup it was stone cold I sent a pack and when they brought it the second time it was warm. I like my soup, hot and the waitress tried to make up an excuse that when they add the tofu it cools the soup well that only happens in that restaurant because any other place I eat meat so it's steaming hot so I was unhappy about that. They were very busy so it's possible the soups get served and don't get delivered for a while. We were there during lunchtime. The restaurant is large and it's a family style ambience. The sushi pizza was in the popular dishes so I ordered one, however, I was surprised maybe I was expecting it a little bit bigger than what I got. The crispy rice at the bottom is crunchy. I also got two 101 sushi because I saw the cream cheese, my bad because I didn't read the riceless and it was covered in sweet plantain. I regret ordering this as this is nowhere tastes like sushi, all I taste is the sweet banana. I also got the kids meal with katsu chicken with fries. Soya might have some of the best instagram influencer marketing in Miami. It has crossed my feed so many times and looked incredible. Unfortunately... looks can be deceiving. For an appetizer, we got the Sampler for Two which is a small assortment of appetizers, Coquitos Crunch, Gyozas, Sushi Pizza, and the Asian Crunch. The highlight of the dish was the Coquitos Crunch, which is essentially a Salmon Tempura Eggroll cut in half and drizzled with eel sauce and a curry mustard, which tasted great! The most disappointing appetizer was sadly the Sushi Pizza. Not much flavor to it and with a bottom chewy rice "crust". For entrees we got the visually stunning Volcano Roll, which has a literal volcano of seafood bake towering over it. The seafood bake tasted great, but the actual roll filled with kani tempura and cream cheese again tasted old and the Kani must have been fried earlier in the night as it was rubbery and soggy. We also got the Soya Crunch Roll... which is really isn't worth mentioning... as again.. not much crunch and more chewy. Soya has a visually stunning dining room, but I don't get the need for a DJ at a sushi restaurant on a Saturday night at 7pm. ‍ One aspect of the night that does deserve praise is the service. The waitress was pleasant and attentive, but the manager was the hardest working man in the restaurant. In the hour we were there, I watched him serve drinks, serve food, bus tables, troubleshoot issues with his staff, constantly check on tables, and as we were getting up from the table, he stopped what he was doing and open the door for us. This was a highly disappointing experience, and I can name 20 sushi restaurants in Miami that blow Soya out of the water. We went to Soya Sushi for a Birthday Lunch with 11 coworkers. This is a very stylish restaurant. They have a full bar and plenty of seating. They will split the check up to 6 ways which helps a lot. The lunch special is $13.99 mon - fri 11:30am-4pm I ordered the teriyaki bowl which was ok. I usually give myself 1.5-2 hours for birthday lunches. We came in at 12:15pm and by 1:01pm only 5 people had their food. The other 6 people waited for about 10 mins longer to be served. I give them credit for the larger party size. However I think this wait was a bit long. Also, our water was never refilled. I ordered the teriyaki bowl from the lunch menu. It was ok. Yum. I had some really delicious takeout from this Venezuelan sushi spot.The Prawns Party came with three different kinds of fried shrimp( it shows six in the picture, but I only got five). The shrimp are fried in traditonal Tempura and potato stick Tempura.They we're sweet ,savory, and succulent . Dipping sauces we're quite good also.The 24k roll was awesome . It was Riceless and had Tobiko, shrimp, kani and avocado,topped with salmon and tuna, mixed ceviche and sesame seeds.It was so bright and fresh.Also,the packaging for my take out order was on point.The only issue I had was when I walked over to the bar to get my order, there were about 10 servers standing around and no one looked interested in helping me.I had to get their attention. What's bad is that every time we've come here they do some weird stuff with the check...see - their items on Happy Hour are a great deal, we order from the Happy Hour menu, but when the check comes we're always charged full price, when we bring this up, they correct it, BUT the gratuity is already there and it reflects the FULL price. This has happened over 5 times and it's never corrected. We feel like we're getting played here and it just doesn't sit right with us. This was our first time visiting Soya. I recommend making reservations because they were full the entire time we were there. Think of Soya like a trendy sushi place. We went on a Saturday night and there was a DJ in the corner playing great music. I will say the sushi was delicious! I had the 24K roll and it was a perfect portion and nice bite sized. There is an abundance of options to choose from! They are also quite accommodating. I prefer tuna to salmon, so asked if we could switch out the two in my 24k roll. It was not a problem. If you're like me and prefer to see a pic of each roll, just look at their online menu. My husband is gluten free and they do NOT have many non sushi options for the gf person. He ended up having to eat plain white rice with a plain chicken breast. The rice was hot and the chicken cold when it arrived. It would help if they had Tamari... Then they could make a quick fried rice for a gf customer. Another thing we didn't like was that his meal came out before everyone's rolls. Lastly, beware that if there's anyone celebrating a birthday they have these very bothersome strobe lights they turn on. When we went, there must have been 10 ppl celebrating birthdays because it was frequent strobe lights. By the 3rd one, we had to close our eyes. When we suggested to the matre'd that the strobe lights could get a bit bothersome after a while he immediately got defensive and told us there was a big sign outside informing customers before they entered. I felt he could have handled that with a little more tact. All in all, if you're in the Doral area and in the mood for sushi, I suggest you give this place a call. Update to the review after visiting: I previously commented that the restaurant canceled my reservation 4 days before Valentine's Day after having reserved it for over a month. The owner reached out due to my review and assisted me with re-booking a reservation. When I arrived to the restaurant they were working by reservations. We were sat in the back and it wasn't too busy, our waitress was nice but was no where to be found much of the night. People who sat down after us received their appetizer before we did and it was the same item (sushi pizza). I had to ask for water refills, drink refills and when our sushi came it didn't bring the little plate to pour the soy sauce in, that alone took ten minutes to get. The only good thing was the quality of the food. I also ordered a dirty martini unfortunately it tasted like water. This place didn't feel very special for Valentine's Day so I don't think I would celebrate something special here again. The last and first time I came to soya I had an amazing experience it was 12 of us for a Christmas party but after this disappointing experience from beginning to end I don't see myself revisiting. read more

The fish was incredibly fresh and you could immediately taste the quality. The salmon literally melted in my mouth, and the tuna had that rich buttery flavor you only get from good cuts. Their specialty rolls were creative without being overwhelming, and every bite was balanced -- not drowned in sauces like some places do. The atmosphere and the story of this place is nice. I sat at the bar and was serviced pretty well by the bartender. I do find the place a bit overpriced unless you're going for the lunch specials. I ordered the poke lunch special and it was okay. It was very dry because there was no additional sauce with the poke so it I feel like it lacked a lot of flavor. The I ordered two rolls and took them home. The zero roll was very good and so was the Bob Marley roll. When they gave me the sushi rolls I did have to ask for soy sauce, ginger and wasabi. When it comes to sushi that is something that should not be asked of. I have never been to a Japanese restaurant where I have to ask for those items. I'm more annoyed however that the place includes tip. I don't think restaurant's realize how much this hurts the server. The tip percentages is 18% but I typically tip 20%. When I see the tip included I never add more tip because tips should be earned and not be automatically included. I get not everyone is generous as I am and some people don't tip at all but you get what you get and you don't get upset. I almost forgot to mention when I got there the bartender gave two ladies a QR code to scan for review. He did not give one to me. But if you wonder why they have so many reviews on googles and because they typically push for the reviews. For whatever reason I was not given the QR code to scan. I was intrigued to check out this very popular sushi restaurant in Doral. We were able to make dinner reservations for the same day and headed over. Once we arrived they made us wait 20 min for our table standing outside in the heat. Don't understand why they make you do a reservation only to get to place and have to wait. Once we walked in, the ambiance was very nice but music was extremely loud. The presentation of the drinks called our attention and we ordered the jellyfish and a Moscow mule. They were delicious and perfectly done. Menu had many options and we took a while to decide what to order. We ordered the ceviche, shrimp shumai, volcano roll and pineapple chaufa. Once our food arrived to the table, food looked amazing and well presented. This is where it starts going downhill . We had the shrimp shumai and it was pretty good. Next, my boyfriend ordered the ceviche and was sitting far across from me on the table. He reached over to give me a little bit on his fork to try and absolutely liked it. Right when I had just tried it, the waitress came over to our table to ask how was the food. When I was about to say that we like it, my boyfriend finds a hair in his ceviche. Since the waitress was there , he immediately told her. She took his plate and later came back telling us that it was my hair on his food which was not possible because of the distance. We were offended by the rude remark from the waitress. Then she walked away for a good while. We lost our appetite and we were ready to leave. Waited for her to finally come back to the table after 15 min to ask her for the check. She noticed we did not eat our food and no apologies or offer to get us something else. Regardless if it was my hair or not, I have never in my life heard of a restaurant that would say this to their customers. Very disappointing and will not visit this place ever again. There are many other sushi restaurants across our city that are much more courteous, offer superior service and no loud music. Definitely not returning. read more
