Took a class tonight. I introduced myself to Vanessa and told her I hadn't been exercising in a long time. I very much appreciated her support and checking in with me throughout the class. She made sure I could follow along with the exercises, with each transition, and even showed modifications. Made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. This is a huge deal! As most women can understand. This class was pretty packed, and there were women lining up outside 10 minutes before the class was over! Waiting for the next class to begin. If that doesn't tell you something I don't know what will! Highly recommend SP Fitness. Love it. read more

Santa Paula Fitness is great family owned gym that really takes care of their members and makes everyone feel welcomed. The staff is incredibly nice and respectful towards everyone and the ensure that the gym is kept organized and cleaned at all times. They have a great variety of machines and equipment for everyone to use. I moved to Santa Paula in 2014 and have been a member of Santa Paula Fitness since early 2015. In support of small businesses as well as the always friendly staff I encountered, I was a loyal member. My husband joined the gym in 2018 and we've never had any issues with anybody or the facility as a whole until recently. I believe it was toward the end of 2019 when a young man was hired as a personal trainer. The first encounter we had with this young man was when he approached my husband and I to give us a "pro tip." We were polite and said thank you, even though his advice was unsolicited. After the gym reopened following COVID-19 stay at home order, this young man was now working at the front desk. From all the friendly staff I've come to meet, he has been the least friendly. We understand he is doing his job and he doesn't need to be friendly if he chooses not to be. However, he has made smart-aleck comments to us from time to time; which we've ignored. On 6/22/2020 while walking out after finishing our work out, he told my husband "hey man, you guys left weights on the smith machine." That day, we used the squat rack, the hip abductor, leg press and did lunges. Not once did my husband and I use the smith machine. My husband politely asked if he was sure as we had not used the smith machine. He proceeded to say that he was sure and he had camera video to prove it. We once again told him we did not use the smith machine and walked away. He proceeded to walk from behind the front desk and aggressively said to my husband "what's up man, what's up then motherfucker!" My husband and I continued walking to our car without reacting and/or responding to him. To say the least, my husband and I always pick up the weights we use and at times even pick up ones close to us that others leave on the ground. Not once have I ever seen any other members be approached in this manner. From my observations there are ALWAYS weights left on the floor at this gym. And that day was no different. Therefore, if everyone was being approached for this matter, there wouldn't be weights on the floor that night or ever. I was planning on reaching out to the owners the following day. However, my husband brought it to my attention that the owner had already called him stating that it was gym policy to put our weights away and that they in fact had video footage to prove we didn't do that. To say the least, we left a pair of 45lbs plates ON the leg press, BUT never on the smith machine (not on the floor, or any common areas). My husband was advised by the owner that if he saw anybody leaving weights behind HE should tell them they are supposed to be placed on a rack. It is not our job to tell members to put their equipment away. Most importantly, I am unhappy and disappointed that the employee's aggressive behavior toward us was completely over-looked and justified by saying "he's not that kind of guy." After 5 years of loyal membership, we have made the decision to cut ties with Santa Paula Fitness. We take ownership for leaving weights on the machine. However, we do not appreciate the lack of professionalism from this specific employee, as well as the owner's disregard of our experience as the client. read more

I love this gym. The staff are very friendly and willing to help at any time or give advice on fitness and nutrition. I've found everything I could possibly need to exercise. They're even open on holidays. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone living in Santa Paula. read more

The best parts of my days are spent here. The staff greets you warmly upon entering. The instructors are amazing high energy, positive, and caring. So much more than just a job to them. The facilities offer so many opportunities to achieve your goals. Not a self starter? There are many classes available such as Turbo Kickboxing, Spinning, Step and Tone, P90X2 etc...many opportunities to sweat it out. If you're more into doing your own thing there are more machines for your workout than I even know what to do with. For those of us that prefer, there is also a women's gym with lots of cool machines to facilitate our fitness journey. There are also personal trainers to guide you along with individual training and nutrition. I think the greatest take- away is the caring staff and the other members who are always so very supportive and motivating. This place has changed my life in so many ways. Not only have I lost 30lbs this year, but I have also made many friends and found my sanctuary. read more

Staff is friendly .. only thing is it's not that clean and some equipment needs to be updated and some is missing pieces and falling apart but the place is a little over priced for what is is. It gets the job done cause it's the only thing that's close to me right now. read more

This review is about the terrible customer service I received by the staff over the phone. I called Santa Paula Fitness to ask them to remove my credit card as the form of payment for my brothers gym membership which I no longer wanted to pay for. I was told that they could only remove mine if it was replaced by another card. Ok, so I call my brother and ask him to make sure to change the credit card on file to his. He did. My card and his card are both charged for that months payment. At this point I still understand because I work in customer service and understand mistake happen. I call that office and speak to a young lady and explain what happened. She calls her boss and then calls me back saying that I will have the amount charged credited back to my card within 7 days. GREAT! Forgot all about it, being a new mother and come the next month while looking at my bank account I realize my card was never refunded. I call Santa Paula Fitness and explain the situation to a young lady and she said it would be best to contact her boss Kevin. She gave me his number and email. I called Kevin and left a msg and NEVER received a call back. Very poor customer service. I live in Upland and it was disappointing that this issue couldn't be taken care of over the phone and that I was simply ignored. read more

Great gym. Great staff. Great owners. But bring your iPod...you're gonna need it. The music is bad and loud most of the time.

Love coming to this SPFitness Gym it is great! Take the Turbo Class and the Spin Class if you want to BURN ALOOOOOT of Calories! Make sure to drink lots of water these classes will make you sweat the staff is awesome! read more

Great atmosphere, gets crowded at times and some of the treadmills need replacing/repairing but a great place nonetheless.

This gym has what you need to get a great workout . The only problem is that you constantly having to wait for people to finish their selfies and group chats at the station you want. Nobody puts their weight back to where they belong. Weights falling apart. If you didn't mind driving which I do I'd go somewhere else. read more

I love this gym and the staff so much. It has a women-only workout room and so many bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, step mills, etc. that I never am waiting for my chance to use a machine. It also has a huge weight room with great machines and free weights, super clean locker rooms, tons and tons of classes every month with awesome instructors. The owner Vanessa is so enthusiastic, warm, and funny. I also love that the gym does neuroboxing for people suffering from Parkinson's and other neurological issues. And they also do a lot to help and contribute to the local animal shelter. I would recommend this gym to everybody. read more

I really like going to this gym. The staff are friendly and helpful, the other members are friendly, it's clean, and there's enough equipment so you don't have to wait for a machine or treadmill. This gym is a waste of space. You're better off working out at home even if you have no equipment. The equipment here is not only broken, it is unsafe. Seats literally fall off the benches and are not repaired for months. The ONE cable machine is a pile. Half the time only one side runs smoothly. Who can workout with sticky cable machines? Not to mention the lat pulldown side is way too tall for many people, which means they stand on the seat to reach the bar. Guess what that seat looks like? Yeah. That seat in particular is often wiggly and obviously ripped because of everyone needing to stand on it to awkwardly reach the bar. The dumbbells are falling apart! I wouldn't be surprised if a plate went flying off of one and hurt someone in the face. Don't be fooled when you want to use equipment that doesn't appear broken. No, it is not your lucky day. Once you start your sets, you will find something wrong with it. Some of the staff is friendly, but some are not. Sometimes they greet you, sometimes they don't. You just have to hope they are having a good day or not busy on their cell phones. Also, be careful if you choose to hire their 'trainers'. They may or may not be certified! Oh, and don't bother making plans to get there early on the weekends to get your day started at a decent time. They don't open until 7AM and close at 4PM and 5PM. I could go on, but you get the idea. If you do decide to join, be careful not to step on any of the live cockroaches walking across the gym. Hey, they need to work out too! Best group exercise classes I've ever taken!! BEST IN THE COUNTY!! Dr. White really knows her stuff and teaches the best cardio classes EVER. The enthusiasm is non-stop and the members are supportive and encouraging. Juan's spin classes are also the BEST in the 805! He has a DJ playing music and the other nights, he's running a SPIN & TONE class that goes for and hour and a half! The gym is super clean and the instructors and members are super fun and super nice. I'm a BIG FAN of the gym and recommend this place to anyone who wants to get in shape NOW! It's such a FUN place, you don't even feel like it's exercise!! read more

I've gone to the Santa Paula Fitness gym for years, 7-8 years to be exact so I considered myself to be a good costumer which was why I was surprised, shocked and disappointed when the gym owners kicked me out for for leaving a review and stating a couple flaws of the state of the gym (Which were completely true). For many years I stayed quiete hoping and waiting for the the gym to make some improvements or maybe get a new machine or two, hell I'd even settle for keeping up with the maintenance of the machines and dumbells and to this day I continue to see the same a whole lot of nothing. No ventilation in the restrooms, dumbells falling apart (same rubber dumbells from 8 years ago), same machines always out of service, unsanitary, track record for kicking people out on a whim, the worst weekend hours. Worst of all they charge more than my LA Fitness gym. You might be asking yourself then why wouldn't you just go to another gym in Santa paula? Well that's because there are none other than this other run down hole in the wall gym that also over charges. SP fitness isn't even apart of the BBB... So before joining this gym I'd consider all of the above. read more
