Having a structure to protect your hard earned wheels is great! This garage does the trick quite well AND smack dab in the middle of the campus (kind of) to keep you from wearing out your shoe soles. It is super great for short term parking for a class or two and not great for all day due to cost. It is easy to get in and fast to get out. There is an elevator, a couple of stairways and is easy to pay. There is an app for even easier and faster paying! It is pretty well lit and is airy. This trip was for a PhD dissertation defense and only needed a spot nearby for a tad over an hour. It exceeded expectations! No grackle painting my car!

Both stairwells are currently "out of service", leaving one small (frightening) elevator for the students to navigate from floor to floor. The wait for the elevator is horrendous, leaving many students to travel the path of the cars to their parking spots (a huge safety issue). Something needs to be done about the stairwells before somebody is seriously injured!

Any organization/business/individual can occupy a parking spot on Main Street downtown to do with what they like. When the opportunity presented itself to Yelp, I instantly was drawn the idea as it brings the community together in a free, interactive, and creative way. But when I was placed next to the Nasher and a live poetry set, I was even more in love with the concept. My parking spot neighbor had a make shift living room built with actual grass as the foundation while a book swap sponsored by D Magazine and the Dallas Public Library. My only wish is if the city allowed this to happen more often and longer than just a Friday afternoon.

The human side of the street were beautifully barricaded from the traffic rush by lush planters and shrubbery to create an urban oasis for all to enjoy. These lush barriers created "booths" with a variety of activities from a drum circle, displays by the Nasher, D Magazine , a kid-sized soccer field, and of course the lovely Yelp ambassador, Frances G. Main Street is truly the heart of Downtown yet this makeshift setup brought it even more life and brought the street down to a human scale. I recently visited Toronto where throughout the city center, setups like this are permanent and well received. I can only hope that the word gets out on PARKing Day so that it can spread throughout the city and maybe one day become permanent,

The downsides are this: The turns can be pretty narrow. It prints a small paper receipt (smaller than a credit card) which makes it even easier to lose. It does have a pretty decent sized validation space though. The first 4 floors seem to be reserved primarily. When you park and get out you, then hop on the stairs or elevator, you are inside of a another building that does not really have a clear exit. The positives: It is essentially 8 stories. The top is open, with ample parking. Once inside, if you go to the basement there is a convenience store called Sherry's. It's $5 minimum on credit card purchases, but they have fountain drinks, protein bars and all the goodies. The floors and elevators are easily marked. The prices weren't awful. 2 hours was $3. The most you pay (no overnight parking) is $12. If you choose lost ticket it is the max. The top has a great view. Park on 8, grab a soda on the way back to the car, and just watch the city go by.

I emailed them within 20 minutes of receiving my car and their phone number does not work nor have they responded to multiple emails and even a LinkedIn message. Their website claims they have "honesty, integrity, and professionalism, " but based on my experience the company and its owner, Brennan Burgess, have none.

The Adolphus hotel wanted to charge us $28 for valet. We thought of doing street parking but…read morerealized a covered garage might be a better bet overnight. Drove down the street and found this gem. It is $7 daily. We weren't given a ticket after entering and when we went to the pay station, the expiration time was one minute after the pay time. So, I guess you just pay when you leave and it isn't necessary to put anything in the window? I am still confused. But the important thing is that we didn't incur any fines the next day when we left at 9AM lol. Obviously you should go get everything you need before parking. Don't be stupid like us and get stuck in downtown with no room service and only a rice krispy treat to share between two people. TIP: In case you forget where you parked the night before, the entrance to the garage is across from the Majestic Theatre.
