I am submitting this complaint regarding an experience I recently had with one of your stylists who provides children's hair services. I booked an appointment because the stylist was advertising a promotion for a specific children's hairstyle. I sent her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted for my daughter, and based on the promotion and the picture I provided, I reasonably expected my daughter to receive that style. However, when the appointment took place, the stylist did not perform the hairstyle that was advertised or the style I had shown her. The promotional hairstyle also included a bow. During the appointment, the stylist asked me what color bow I wanted, which led me to believe the bow would be provided as part of the service. However, she never provided the bow. Despite the fact that the service I received was not the promotional style I booked and the included accessory was not provided, I was still charged the full price. When I brought this to the stylist's attention and explained that this was not what we had discussed, her response and attitude toward me were extremely rude and disrespectful. I was not treated as though I was simply raising a reasonable concern about a service I had paid for. Instead, the interaction became unnecessarily hostile and uncomfortable. What concerns me even more is how my daughter was treated during the appointment. My daughter is a child with disabilities, and I made the stylist aware of this. My daughter was in the chair for approximately three hours. She did not scream or cry throughout the entire appointment. She briefly reacted a few times because the braiding was painful, which is something that can happen when a child is getting their hair braided. Other than those brief moments, she cooperated with the service. The stylist stated that she works with children, which made her attitude particularly concerning to me. After I explained my daughter's disabilities, the stylist responded in a way that made me feel as though my daughter's behavior was an inconvenience rather than something that should have been handled with patience and professionalism. The interaction affected my daughter emotionally. Afterward, my daughter told me that the stylist hated her and didn't like her. As her mother, that was extremely upsetting for me to hear. A child should not leave a professional children's hair appointment feeling disliked, unwanted, or ashamed because they experienced discomfort during a service. I understand that working with children can sometimes be challenging, and I am not expecting a stylist to tolerate inappropriate behavior. However, there is a major difference between appropriately managing a child's behavior and treating a child and their parent with disrespect. If a stylist advertises that they work with children, I expect them to demonstrate patience, professionalism, and appropriate communication, particularly when working with a child who has disabilities. I am asking management to please review this situation, including the advertised promotion and the conduct of the stylist during my daughter's appointment. I would also like clarification as to why I was charged the full price when the promotional hairstyle and included bow were not provided. I am not submitting this complaint simply because I was unhappy with the hairstyle. My concern is the combination of the service not matching what was advertised, being charged full price after raising the issue, and the way both my daughter and I were treated when I attempted to address the matter. I would appreciate a response from management regarding how this situation will be addressed. I also hope the shop takes this complaint seriously so that other parents, particularly parents of children with disabilities, do not have a similar experience. read more

I've been back several times since and her service has gone from outstanding to even beyond outstanding (I didn't know that was possible!). I was told on a Friday afternoon that a person was available for an appointment the next day. The time kept being pushed back until I was told that she had been there since 4am and is very behind. She did suggest that I ask someone else. I decided to cancel. I realize it was last minute, A SATURDAY and around pay day. I actually really enjoy coming here... THE SHOP: I like the design of this place... Outside along the sidewalk leading into the parking lot area & entrance are windows displaying some of the stylist at their booths styling their clients. Indoors there are several separate booth rooms. The one I go to encompasses 4 stylist. Sometimes there are events put on by the shop that you get a flyer invite to (not always free though, but still cool). There's a vending machine area if you need a snack or are feeling a bit parched. **There isn't an ATM here, but there is one across the street at Walgreens so try & make sure to plan ahead & bring ya dollas $$ not plastic.** They're reasonably priced here. If you're looking for someone not only to make you look fly, but who's deeply into hair care & treatment be sure to research each stylist on their online website since they have a little bio & actually speak to them before you go in. THE STYLIST: The stylist are all nice (as far as I've met & come in contact with) & some of them are silly as heck so you get a good laugh. Even if they don't work in the same area as your stylist, they drop by or pop in to maybe do a lil "stanky leg" dance or sing a song, say a couple words then bounce lol. If the stylist are ever ordering food, they check to see if you'd like something, or if they've ordered food already they offer you. There's even been an instance when in her spare time one of the stylist brought around strawberries to everyone getting their hair done. There's definitely a sense of comradery here. They help each other & some even hang out outside of work. THE CLIENTELE: The people & their vibe are cool. I've seen clients age ranges from maybe 8 or 9 years old to 98 (but the ages accepted vary depending on the stylist, so if you have kids or the older generation, be sure to ask your stylist if they handle that age group). THE STAFF: I schedule my appointments for the same time every 2 wks & always see staff come in around the same time each time to stock new towels & remove the old as the stylist work. Some play double roles & handle valet, but there's also the valet guys. They've always taken care of my car with not a scratch. I have been going to this hair salon for well over 10 years. I now live is Sacramento and still get my hair done at this salon. Bobbi is my stylist and she has hair talent to the 100th Power!! I have long mixed hair so it can be a bit intimidating ... not to Bobbi! She knows how to layer it, press and curl it and she is an awesome color expert. Finally, she will not take the entire day on your hair. The salon itself is also well managed .. it is clean, no unwanted solicitation and there is free valet since parking in the area is tight. I am normally very positive but I most tell everyone about Menjuion!!!! Menjuion was my eight year old daughter's hair stylist. I was exploring YouTube and found a video of a mother placing her daughter's hair into 9 plaits. The mother of the little girl then placed 9 rods on the end of the plaits. After placing eight rods in her daughter's hair, she dipped the rods into hot water to set the curl. The mother then pulled all of the plaits up into a ponytail and separated the curls. I sent a video of this style to Menjuion and she agreed that she could create this beautiful, quick and easy style. Menjuion told me to purchase 4 packs of Black & Gold braid hair. When She advises me to purchase 4 packs I told her that this would be too much hair. Menjuion told me that it would not be too much hair. When I was in my way to the salon, Menjuion went on to advise me that the price for this style would be $90. I was very shocked based upon the fact that the style only called for 9 plaits(2 in the rear of the hair, 3 in the middle of the hair and 4 in the front of the hair). I use the term plait because that is what they were, the style did not call for individual braids. Based upon the fact that my daughter was taking pictures the next day and my daughter was looking forward to getting her hair braided into the beautiful style, I did not cancel! Menjuion was 40 minutes late to the appointment, only used one pack of the four packs of hair she had me purchase(valued at $15) which brought me to $105. To add insult to injury, the style was not as cute as the video. I presented Menjuion with 5 $20 bills when I paid her my daughter's style. Menjuion proceeded to ask me did I need change. Menjuion then asked me if I only wanted $5 back out of my $10 that I was expecting back in change. Then she tried to claim that she did not have change. I waited awkwardly for her to find my $10 in change. How rude? Keep in mind that this is a 9 braid style for an 8 year old!!!!!!!!!!! I wish the story ended here but guess what????? The style did not last for 24 hours!!!!!!!! I sent Menjuion pictures of the style at her request!!! Once I sent the photographs, I never heard back from Menjuion. I called her on the day that the photos were to be taken and she never responded. I sent Menjuion a text message detailing her unprofessional behavior and how she left her client hanging( my 8 year old daughter). I also requested a $45 refund. We all know what happened! Menjuion called me and accused me of deliberately altering the hairstyle! I advised her how ridiculous her accusation was and her only response was that she did not want to be confrontational. How can you render a service, over charge for the service and the service not last and claim to be non-confrontational???????? Menjuion is over priced and does not stand behind her work product. Even my eight year old believed that Menjuion should have offered to bring us into the salon to try and correct her hair for the photos! To just simply disappear was rude and unacceptable. I guess that was her way of being non-confrontational! I wish that I could give no stars. I know the salon will say she is an independent contractor and attempt to disassociate from her unprofessional behavior but this is where here salon room is located. I stopped waiting for my refund and will never return. I just wanted the next customer to be fully aware! read more

First off..... I searched the Spa 313 website to learn about the salon and stylists. I was in desperate need for someone to do my hair so I called to make an appointment. I WISH that I had chosen a specific stylist based on the reviews. Instead, I was "assigned" to a stylist based on the availability. Funny thing is, when looking at the stylist profiles, I said to myself, "I don't want her", and that is who they gave me and now I see why she was always available. I was assigned to Dorset who is very nice. She started off good by attempting to fix what the last stylist did. I was pleased with the finished product and the price so I went back a few more times. Then, things started going downhill. Let me just list them for you. 1. She talks WAY TOO MUCH!! How is it that I can go to sleep while you are talking to me and when I wake up you are STILL talking to me?!?!?! 2. She is often late for appointments. Why is that when you don't have any other clients? At least I haven't seen a lot. Only one other. Oh and the manager of the salon will say that she has called her and she is on her way. RIGHT!!! Over an hour late. I was crazy for waiting!!! 3. Along with talking MY ear off, she stops what she is doing to talk to other people. 4. She talks about people. 5. She complains 6. She is slow The last straw was when she called me (2 days after I made my appointment) to see if I could come in on the day that she called or a different day. REALLY?!?!?! Who can just drop what they are doing to go to the hair salon because you have something else to do? She claims that she sent a text earlier. Never got it. I would love to go back to try a different stylist, considering there are about 30 of them in there. Some of who I have seen their work before at other salons. But in order to avoid an uncomfortable situation, I will go someplace else. read more

Worst haircut I've ever had. I was in a hurry and needed to get a haircut during my lunch hour for an event later that evening. A friend of a friend referred me to Petina. When I got there she quickly sat me down, she and I discussed the look I was trying to achieve. I have naturally curly hair so I stressed to her my wariness to have new stylist cut my hair. She suggested wetting my hair which has proven to be disastrous in the past because it makes my curls heavy from the water which totally changes the spring back. I asked her to cut it dry curly so we could immediately she the shape as she was trimming. I've been trying to grow my hair so I asked her to cut in layers to create more movement but keep my length. She begins to cut, just hacking away...mind you I cannot see what she's doing because her mirror is covered in flyers and advertisements. So I just see hair falling to the ground...lots of it. Corncerned I asked to see a mirror...finally she raises my chair to show me the progress. Shocking was all that came to mind. Petina had cut the layers so short and bluntly and thinned out my length so much it looked like a mullet. I told her it was to short on top, so what does she do? Continued to cut...WTH! She said she had to clean it up. I wear my hair parted in the middle...not even both sides of my hair were even. She cut my hair into a short bob, and left party streamers at the bottom. When I couldn't take anymore, she wet my hair, I paid, tipped and left. When my hair dried the damage was evident. I wore my hair like this for a week, hoping I could work around this HORRIBLE haircut. The following Friday I found myself in another chair forced to cut my hair to well above shoulder length to make the blunt layers she gave me work. Before Petina touched my hair, it was resting between my shoulder blades, right at my bra strap. Here I am doing the one thing I did not want to do...watching my hair grow slowly back to the same length. read more

Let me first say I would prefer to give them 4.5 stars but since I cannot I am going to give them 4.. only because it takes A LOT to give a business 5 stars. That said, I LOVE this place. I am from the east coast where you can go to the beauty salon and get a wash and set for 20 bucks on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday because those are slow days. Also on the east coast they use a blow dryer and a round brush to style your hair so it was a big culture shock when I moved out here and every place charges $80 or more and they use a flat iron which I always felt was too much heat. Anyway I had been looking for a salon for over a year, started going to fantastic cuts where my hair was cut tooo short, and my friend referred me to them. I went to Keokia and that was all she wrote. Their prices are reasonable $60 for a wash and set, and she knows how to take care of my hair. After the previous salon cut my hair too short I decided I wanted to stop perming my hair (per my stylist suggestion) and I never had the weird hair falling out stage. As a matter of fact my hair is thicker and almost back to the length it was in NYC. My comment can only go for Keokia because that is the only woman I let touch my hair but they rest of the staff are pretty amazing and if Keokia is busy and you ask her to refer you to someone else she will not do you wrong. Two things I should mention, she uses a hot comb not a flat iron, which is WAYYYYY more heat then I am use to with my hair, but again she clearly knows what she is doing because nothing has fallen out. And she is not the best cutter. I am a plain jane girl so my hair is usually stream line, bone straight, maybe some curls but nothing edgy. I took one of my friends to her to get an edgy cut and they did not like how she did it. They liked the wash and style just not the cut. Very professional establishment. Each stylist has an assistant, and they have the latest equipment. My daughter's hair came out amazing!!! It was very shiny and healthy. They each had deep conditioning treatments and my eldest was put under a hydrator for her dandruff. They have a wide range of beauty services and a barber shop onsite for male clientele too. It was such a great experience I made an appointment for myself the following week. They have an ATM onsite but I suggest bringing cash to avoid fees. I called this shop in need of a new beautician and the manager Kiokia (sp?) was suuper nice and helpful. She encouraged me to come in and she'd set me up with one of their many ladies there! Let me say I have never been disappointed. She is professional and she takes time to listens to what the clients want. I went to another stylist in the complex to give them a chance, but was not entirely happy with the process to getting my hair from it's natural state to being pressed, flat-ironed and curled. It all has to do with the lack of patience and care taken with detangling natural hair after the shampoo-conditioning and blow-drying process. Natural hair, although coarse, can be very delicate and fragile when wet, so pulling and tugging on it, breaks it, as does comb blow-drying it when it's not thoroughly detangled! Also, wait time is a problem. If a client (or the stylist) is late it is very important to notify arriving clients as it throws everything off and the clients who are on time usually suffer! I've been going to Spa 313 for a few years now. The vibe and the atmosphere are appropriately professional and the people are gracious and courteous. This is not the corner beauty shop where anything goes. My long weave stylist is Bobbie. She's a consummate professional with an eye for style. She does amazing things with weaves. But she's also about developing and maintaining healthy hair. I'm good with the prices because you get what you pay for...I don't mind paying for a stylist who keeps to a schedule, knows her business, and who keeps my mop under control...even as she tells me it's time to come out from under my weave. And her assistant, Datanaka (I hope I've spelled that right) is on point with the scalp massage! When I recently went to a short, 27 piece weave, Desiree made it happen; Bobbie generally works more with the longer weaves. And let me say, Ms. Desiree made my weave a happening look for me, a woman on the go. It's short, snazzy, on point, and on time! I've been rocking the short 'do to the tune of just so many compliments! And I have to love that Ms. D. Is fabulous with time too. Spa 313 has me for my long and short hair needs! When I came back home to LA from the Navy, I was in desperate search for a hair salon that I could get my hair back in shape. That was when I met my fabulous hair dresser, Coco. She truly has growing hands when it comes to doing hair. She really pays attention to her clients needs and is up to date with all the fashion hair trends. The salon itself is very nice. Nice atmosphere and kind people there. If you get hungry, there's a young man that comes in on Saturdays for taco orders. They are delicious!
