So for 11 years, I was coming here to get my hair braided by the owner she's always been professional and always did a good job up in to July 2024 where I noticed, she got very unprofessional with me yelled at me, messed up on my hair, putting wrong hair in my hair and cursing me out after when I asked if she could possibly give me a redo because the hair style that I was trying to get was not what I asked, and instead of being professional, she yelled at me in the shop with her sister Nikola in front and nobody did anything It was my 30th birthday and I never felt more discouraged in my life than knowing my hair ended up, falling out and not being done right when I paid $200 for Service. Now fast-forward to today, I went to another braider that I felt I could trust from the owner because this is all I've known for 11 years and somehow it went back to the owner stating that I was talking about her. I am a single mother with two children and no mother. I have no need to talk about the owner of the shop who's been doing my braids since I was 18 years old but since then she has been very unprofessional send me messages on Facebook putting dirt on my name because she assumed I did that to her when I haven't and threaten me telling me if I ever came back to the shop, she was going to get somebody to jump me. I'm a 30-year-old. Depressed woman who has now lost her hair brighter because she cannot be professional. I wouldn't recommend going here. I wouldn't go here and after 11 years of going here I am now out of a braider and feel very disrespected by everyone in that shop, I went there to get my hair braided again after all this altercation to put money in a braiders pocket and she braided my hair very bad And apparently she did it in spite for the owner because the owner thought I was talking about her so these people go about their way to braid people's hair and mess it up on purpose because the owner if you asked me, that's not how you run a business if somebody is still being a pain Customer, you should at least do a good job and treat them with respect I've put so much money in that shop part of the reason why the owner was able to open up a second shop was because I was a customer for so long paying $200 every three months For 11 years it really sucks how unprofessional the owner had to be towards me especially since being a customer for over 11 years it's really sad and due to them, not being professional and spitefully doing my hair. I took my girlfriend for a blowdry over the phone they told her it was $35 for a blowdry when getting there the price jumped up an extra $10 for them to detangle her hair also after when going to the atm for the money they then changed the price to $85 saying they thought we were asking how much for the detangle so $45 detangle $35 blowdry so my advice to anyone reading ask them questions like your a 2nd grade who doesn't understand if not you will feel cheated read more

I called and requested a same day appointment for two feed in braids. The young lady that answered was very nice and friendly, so that was a plus. When I arrived, the woman who addressed seemed to be the owner and was very professional and nice, another plus. The young lady who did my hair however, could use some coaching. She never asked my name. The owner gave her tips throughout the process, for example asking her if she asked me for a photo or picture of the style, reminding her to put the flat irons in the holder because something was burning (she laid the flat irons on the counter). I always have more than enough braiding hair because I bring in my braiding bag, just out of habit. I expected her to use two packs maybe three if needed but again, these were two feed ins. Long story short, she used almost 4 packs of hair because she kept taking the braids down and redoing. She struggled curling the ends. I was also there almost 4.5 hours and there was no wait due to this being a same day appointment so she started on me right away. So 4.5 hours was quite ridiculous especially for 2 freaking braids. I won't be back, however I think this particular stylist needs some additional training/coaching. read more

I recently took my son there to get his hair braided by Nicole (I believe her name was). Long story short the hairstyle was a total of 85$ which I paid. After getting the change I handed my son the other 15$ which was suppose to the tip for his braider. Before my son could even sit down in the chair , Nicole turns around and asks son for an extra 5$ which he hands her. My son 9yrs old and I found that extremely inappropriate. I didn't let it get to me because the tip was for her anyways but that was extremely distasteful. I sat in my car most of the time and came back in about 10 mins before she was done. The 85$ I paid was for a design and his braids were straight back , no design no anything. I asked her why she didn't do a design and she said "that is a design" and I informed her it wasn't. I requested reimbursement if 15$ and she said no refunds. After we left my son advised that his head hurt so I just thought it was because he is a bit tender headed but as the days past the front of his braid was starting to bubble and his hair pulled out. The braids were way to tight and he had scabs in his hair where she burned him with the hot comb. I have taken photos and will be sending this over to the state board and filing a formal complaint. She's so damn rude and I was over charged. A lock of my sons hair literally came out from the root when I took the braids down and he had a small bald spot. My son has very thick long , healthy hair. They should def be shut down. They talk about there clients and whose messing with who. Oh! And not to mention the 10$ my son had for the tip miraculously disappeared. He didn't have it when we got in the car and said he remembers it being in the chair but he doesn't know where it went after that. Now him being 9 he could have dropped but but you would think an respectable adult would have told him and helped him out. I wasn't gonna write a review or speak to the department but my sister I very good friends with an now ex employee at the shop and just in casual catty conversation my sister was told that Nicole actually picked up that 10$ after my son had dropped it and kept it and she does overcharge for hairstyles she doesn't intend to do. Also, that fact that this is a black hair shop, in a black neighborhood, with black customers, and they charge a fee for thick hair is ridiculous. Update from my 2014 and 2016 posts: STILL my favorite. My first choice. By far the best in LA, Inglewood, West LA and all other surrounding cities. I recommend Erica for corn rolls and the owner Mareatha for individuals. However, ALL of the ladies are exceptional braiders with the neatest, fastest hands in LA county. They are pleasant, professional and fast. Should you need a "pick me up" they offer complimentary snacks and beverages. I've been patronizing this business for years, with not one complaint. I'm a firm believer in "You get what you pay for" so I don't mind paying a couple hundred dollars for my lower back (buttocks) length, extra small braids, that will last about 5-6 weeks when properly cared for. The shop is fun, friendly tidy and reasonable considering the length of my very small braids, and I doubt there isn't another who can complete all that, in 6 hours or less!!! They welcome walk-ins but it's best to make an appointment, two to three weeks in advance, if possible. They are ALWAYS busy but are kind enough to make occasional exceptions, like coming in at 5:30 AM, just to get me out in time for my 1:30 flight. No one was at the shop for my appointment. The owner called me back to reinsure that someone will be at the shop to braid my hair. My braider was rude. After having bad experiences with countless unreliable independent braiders that cancel appointments at the last minute, overbook, "lose" scheduled appointments (even when they have taken a deposit), I thought I'd try a braiding shop in hopes that anyone employed there would be held to some kind of standard by the establishment owner....HAH!! I walked in and met Nicole. I asked if anyone there knew how to do "in-braiding". She claimed she did and made an appointment for me to return to see her the following Friday. I found it odd that she didn't take my number or ask for a deposit, but I was just glad to get the appointment. I now believe she never intended to work that day. Why she made the appt., I'll never know. I showed up 10 minutes early for my 9am appt. (because I respect the time of others). At 9am, no one was there. 9:15, no one, 9:45 still no one. No one could call me since Nicole didn't take my number, and the only number I had was of the shop....WHICH WAS CLOSED!! At 9:50am, an elderly woman pulled up next to me w/ braiding hair bundles. At around 10:15, I asked when her appt. was scheduled, and with whom. She said 10am, w/ Nicole. Well isn't that interesting, I thought. She had assumed she was the 1st appt. and Nicole was only 15 min. late, ohhh nooo, she was already over an hour late. The woman had the "owner's" cell number and called her. The owner said she'd call Nicole and call her back. Per the owner, Nicole claimed to have been detained by the police for some nonsensical reason which made her late and there was no telling when or if she'd be in. The owner reiterated that our experience was not common and she didn't "run" her business that way. (Reviewers report this is standard practice for this establishment.) So there we were, hair all over our heads; me looking like Phil Spector at his last trial (Google it), and the poor elderly woman in 16 Celie (Color Purple) braids holding packs of Rastafri pre-stretched braiding hair, standing in the middle of a crusty, smelly parking lot, looking like we'd been whipped with a spatula upside the head. The woman explained she was attending her grandbaby's graduation in a couple of hours. I asked if she had a wig at home because it looked like she was going to need it. After reading the other reviews, it's clear that neither Nicole or the owner value their customers or the integrity of the business. Why would anyone employ someone like Nicole who has apparently stooped to taking financial advantage of children (see recent reviews). I don't know why anyone would waste their time making an appointment there, but they don't have to worry about me returning. If you do gamble with an appoint, pack your wig in your purse. I got my hair braided and paid 300 for small individuals mind you the back of my hair was shaved off and didn't grow in enough to braid and I was ok with that. And I tipped her 30 because I believe in tipping. When I got to my appointment it was double booked and she literally had to switch back and forth between me and another lady that came in after me but got worked on before me. Upon finishing didn't take long but she braids fast so I didn't question it until now. I took my braids out yesterday because they grew out so much which was weird because its only been a month but my daughters showed me some of my braids were medium and big middle of my head the front was small of course.
