The building exterior looks like it was previously a bank or some sort of office space, and the way the interior is set up also reflects that. Anyway, my sister was in town and suggested getting a massage together. Since my regular spot was unavailable, we ended up at Nancy Taylor. Once you check in at the front desk, they take you to a separate waiting area, with the usual coffee, tea, etc. Our therapists (one man and one woman) were extremely professional and courteous, telling us that we could select our therapist by preference and which table was which. I had the male therapist (which did not bother me). However, for me the actual massage was a little underwhelming. The headrest moved forward and back very easily, making me worry a little that I would move my head forward and completely dislodge the headrest. And it was curiously tough and plastic-y, so that even after a few minutes my face felt rather painful being pressed into it. Also, my sister asked her therapist if they had heated tables, and they did not. For a massage in December, that would have been a real plus. I don't normally get Swedish, so I'll chalk up some of it to my inexperience with the style. There seemed to be a lot more pressing and vigorous rubbing than I expected, and since it was a full body, we seemed to spend a lot of time doing hot towels and that kind of thing. Again, all very professionally done, but not quite to my taste. Afterwards our therapists spoke with us about any issues they noticed during the massage, offered us water, and we sat in the waiting area for a while to have some tea. They use the envelope system for tips (they just go in a box at the front desk), which removes the awkwardness there. Overall, it was completely fine, but it kind of made me miss my regular spa and therapist. So while I doubt I'd return to Nancy Taylor because of that, it was a perfectly good Aveda experience.

I went in for my fist hair cut and my first keratins treatment. When I called I told them I had…read morenever had one before and asked would my bar be normal afterwards? To which I was told yes, just you can't get it wet for a few days to a week. So I walked into my appointment with way more confidence than I should have. I timed my appointment to coincide with going out for my birthday. Let me tell you, my hair is not normal. So let me tell you about the keratin process since they couldn't be bothered to tell me: you will get your hair washed and cut (I asks to have it cut first to save on cost as I have a lot of hair), the treatment is put on, your hair is dried and then straightened ALOT. They will straighten each section like 5 times. You will walk out with very straight product dense hair. And I'm sure some would say duh?! Which yea duh, but I had never had this done. I've never had any treatment ever. So I literally knew nothing but what they informed me of. So if you don't like straight hair (raises their hand) be prepared. You should go as long as you possible without washing your hair afterwards. You need to keep it as straight as possible the whole time as well. I'm sure I wouldn't be that upset had I'd be given all the pertain information (which would've resulted in me not getting that treatment a day before going out for my birthday). However whoever answers the phone either is not educated enough in the services the salon offers, or they don't care. I did state multiple times on the phone I didn't know anything about the process and had never even heard of it. Also that I was going out and wanted my hair to look nice and blown out. It's so far from what I wanted to look like on my night out that I still haven't ruled out just washing it all out. The only thing stopping me is the $300 price tag that came with this epic mistake. Something most people (myself very much included) can't be throwing down the drain. I don't even know if I fully like my hair cut as I haven't been able to get past how much I hate my hair. So go here to get your hair done, but don't trust that they're telling you everything.

There was only two times in my life that I cried from getting a horrible haircut. This was one of…read morethem. In short, this is not the place to go if you want a pixie cut using clippers! I attached a photo of how I usually get my hair cut from my former stylist (out of state) compared to the haircut I received. I was assured by the lady at the front desk that one of their stylist is great at cutting short hair. At my appointment, I showed the stylist, Michaela, the picture of how I usually get a cut and she appeared confident that she could do so and even stated that pixie cuts were her favorite to cut and style. When she gave me the mirror to view the sides, it was evident on my face that I was not happy. My sides were so uneven, one side was cut shorter and higher than the other. It looked like railroad tracks ran from the side to the back of my head with how uneven and not blended everything was. I kept pointing out the fact that both sides weren't even and Michaela kept trying to fix it but was not successful and kept asking what would I like for her to do or should do...I appreciated her trying to fix it but I shouldn't have to tell her how to fix a bad cut. I was told she wouldn't charge me since I was so unhappy but she still "had to or she'd get in trouble." So, I was charged $20 for a haircut I was totally unhappy with and still had to find someone to fix it! I should have spoken to the manager but at that point, I was so ready to leave! I would have appreciated the honesty and been better off if I was told that she wasn't confident in cutting my hair than to have it chopped!
