I was very shocked at the service I received vs. prices that I was charged. I left out, went to dinner, and realized I still had hair dye on my forehead and in my hairline and down the right side of my face and even on my ear. I'm not sure if the stylist ran out of time, between appointments or what, but after my hair color set, the wash and the remainder of the appointment were very rushed from there. The styling was quick and looked awful, and my hair looked greasy in the front; which could have been dye that was not washed out that weighed my hair down. The color itself is fine. I just know the service provided did not equal the charged amount. The price was very high for what I received! read more

The process is done in such a way that as we were leaving, we feel the best of Ourselves are now back! I'm a neatly groomed guy and I typically like my hair cut every 3 weeks or so. I changed jobs last fall which takes me to a different area for work and it isn't convenient to see the stylist that I've had the last 7 years. So, I have been experimenting at several places in lafayette and found some that were ok, but not great. Well, my search is over. Brittany did a great job, listened to what I wanted and the cut looks great. Best haircut I've had in 5 years! (I'd say 10 years but I had a lot more hair back then!) This is a very nice spa where they do nails, massages and will offer you tea, coffee and water (might have even offered a soft drink). Very cozy and warm feel. Great service. I'll be back. I have short hair & I went in for a partial lowlight. the stylist only had 2 years of experience. My hair was completely brown when she finished even though I told her I just wanted a few lowlights because it was too blonde! She could not style my hair either. It looked horrible! When I went to check out my bill was $115.00!!! After I told them I would not pay $115 for a partial lowlight they told my a partial lowlight was $80 but they could not explain the difference between the $80 and the charge of $115. They finally reduced my bill to $60. As I was going out the door and a lady followed me and told me the same thing just happened to her. She went back in and got some of her money back and thanked me. Also, their salon was empty. All of the stylist were hanging around with no clients. I can see whY!!! read more

I had a lot of areas waxed: cheeks, thighs, butt, and Brazilian. Having so many areas waxed I was very disappointed that each was done poorly. Firstly, before scheduling an appointment I specifically asked the spa if they used hard wax. They replied "Yes." Based on their response I expected them to use hard wax, which is also known as no-strip wax, that is a wax that cures firmly so that it can be lifted without a strip. Unfortunately, Spa Mizan does not understand the difference between the two for when I asked for them to use hard wax the woman servicing me continued with strip wax. Hard wax was so important to me because it is less painful and irritating to the skin. Now to the individual services: Cheeks - She ripped off a large, quarter size, amount of skin right below my eye. It took a week and a half to completely heal. The area was tender for 3 days and then a hideous scab for the remaining days. They charged me for a full face wax though it was only my cheeks. Thighs - there were many missed hairs that I had to remove by tweeze or self-re-waxing. Butt - There were many missed hairs. Brazilian - The woman refused for me to turn over and insisted that I hold my legs up. My positioning resulted in her doing a terrible job, missing very many areas, because she couldn't see where she was waxing. Lastly, I was very sticky afterwards, even after her clean down. Usually I feel simply oily from the ointment they often use, however she did a bad job of removing the sticky residue and the sticky feeling prevailed over the oil. I will NOT return to Spa Mizan. Hopefully Lafayette has a better business for waxing. read more

Oh this place is magical from the moment you walk in the door. About 2 years ago I received a gift card for my birthday to be used on any service here. After looking at the different services I decided to try the full therapeutic massage.. the only problem being now I had to find someone to do it. After searching and searching I came across Ashley who I was told is very good. I had my first ever massage and oh my goodness, it was x10 better than I expected. She is truly amazing at her job and treats you like you mean something rather than someone coming to pay money for a service. Customer service is top notch which I absolutely love and I always feel so relaxed and peaceful here. I've heard mixed reviews about this place but I decided to give it a go and like I said, I wouldnt have it any other way. I make an appointment every 6 months after finals are over with and thats my reward. Walking out the door, I feel like a new person. read more

I had two massages and a facial. The massages and facial were good. My complain is the spa experience. I've been to other spas where your spa experience starts as soon as you arrive, i.e. take you on a tour of the spa, show the facilities, offer a beverage, give you a robe and slippers and you get to relax in a quiet waiting room while your massage therapist is ready for you. Other spas may even invite you to arrive early so that you can unwind and relax at the spa while your appointment time comes. I've been to Spa Mizan twice. The first time, I arrived about 20 minutes early and the receptionist just had me wait at the salon chairs. No robe, no slippers, no beverage. It was as if I was waiting to get my hair done. After my massage I got dressed, paid and that was it for my spa experience. The second time, I arrived at my appointment time. Again, they had me wait at reception area. I noticed a little bar at the right side of the reception area. At some point the receptionist went to the bar, served a drink, and brought it to her work area and proceeded to drink it. I actually thought she was getting me some water while I waited. The ladies that performed the actual services (massage and facial) were quite good and did try to make me feel relaxed. Spa Mizan should really work on the experience. In my opinion, that is why people pay good money to go to a spa instead of just hiring an independent massage therapist. read more

I have been having facials with Carmen at Spa Mizan over 10 years. The atmosphere and comfort of the facial space is at both the old and newer location, fantastic. Carmen is very expert in all types of facials. There was a long period of time when the time for allowing a facial masque to to stay on the face for 10-20 minutes was luxuriously used (and of course paid for) to soak and massage the feet and perhaps the hands (currently sometimes the hands are done first), consequently receiving an hour of service. Paying for an hour facial and getting 40-45 minutes of service is disappointing.....and stressful read more

Keisha did my massage. I enjoyed her professionalism and warmth, she was good at creating a relaxing environment. While I was hoping for a stronger deep tissue massage, I did get a relaxing hour to myself. The website for this spa needs some work though, they offer a coupon code for new customers but there is no where to enter it online and it made for an awkward conversation when asking about it at my appt after I had already paid. Hope they'll fix that to avoid having customers have to ask for an offer later that could have been used easily online as advertised. The manager was nice to honor it in store but it'd be preferable to take care of it before hand when using their website. read more

Somehow my review disappeared and I am again writing to express my disappointment, specifically with a facial (derma-planing) done in early September. I inquired about the procedure...the expected downtime, after effects, length of time it would last, and fully disclosed my vacation time so that the scheduler could assure that I had the procedure at the best time. She scheduled the appointment as close as possible to my departure date, assuring me that there was no down time and that I could expect three weeks of fresh skin. When I went for the appointment, I fully disclosed my medications, skin care, etc. During the procedure I felt stinging and burning and asked if that was normal. The esthetician replied "sometimes" and continued with the procedure and a little later, commented on how red I was, remarking that it was probably because I use RetinA. My main complaint is that had she known that this was a potential side-effect, I should have been immediately informed of the possible risk, as this was disclosed before the procedure began. I would have opted for a different type of facial or postponed, as I had fully disclosed my expectations and departure date. I will say that when I returned the following day the esthetician did give me a few small sized vials to help heel my skin, but I did not have enough product to work with and found very little difference, probably because I needed more product and tried to stretch out as much as possible. But, she did come through for me in that way (however, she should have given me larger quantities to correct this horrible mess!) I had to go on vacation very embarrassed the whole time, having burned, peeling, sensitive skin. I have very few pictures of my vacation, as I shied away from the camera ( this was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime, reuniting with friends I had not seen in 20 years). So very disappointed so embarrassed. I had this procedure done years ago at a dermatologist's office with superb results, no down time, and used Retin A at that time as well. If Spa Mizan's products/procedure can cause potential problems with Retin A users, the customer should be warned/discouraged... not told to have this done just before an important day. read more

Arrived at appointment on time. Had maybe a 5 minute wait. Showed a pic of how I wanted my hair cut and that is exactly what I got. Since I have very curly hair I had decided to wash and straighten the night before so I could get my hair cut dry. I had over 12 inches cut, went from from almost waist long to now right on my shoulders. The lady who cut my hair was very friendly. Normally I pay anywhere from $45-$75 for just a trim, was very please I was charged under $40 for a completely different cut. Definitely will be going back and requesting same person. read more

My previous pedicures at Princess Nails were 10x's better- with hot stones and the painting on my toes came out beautiful! -all for half the price (only $30). I have been here for massages and pedi's and they have been fine. Started going to their salon when my stylist from New Orleans moved away. The last hair color I got 4 weeks ago cost me almost $300 and there was nothing special about it!! Actually it did not last 3 weeks!!!! I was given a gift certificate for Spa Mizan's 30 minute massage & spa pedicure. The massage was pretty good, I liked the atmosphere the therapist created and the fact that she worked on the specific areas I'd requested. Not the best massage I've ever had, but decent. When it came time for the pedicure, the girl didn't seem to know what she was doing; she was dropping the tools and spilled salt scrub all over my shoes. When I got home I looked in the mirror and noticed that she had smeared nail polish across the front of my toes and by the next morning several places had chipped. I did notice in their brochure that the price of the pedicure wasn't worth the service. I've paid half the price elsewhere and received a better quality pedicure. read more

I started coming here to get waxing done in preparation for my wedding. It's been a year later, a year and a half of going here, and I will still swear by this place. There is nowhere in Lafayette like it. The wax specialists are professional, friendly and have a lot of personality. Though I have only come here for wax services, the people at the front desk and hair salon speak to me frequently and are always smiling and friendly. It's really nice to have a salon/spa experience in Lafayette that includes the human aspect. The location is OK, sometimes it can be difficult to turn left out of. The pricing is good. The interior is really chic and smells lovely, the back rooms are dimly lit and relaxing. It's a great place and the people are wonderful. Give it a try. read more

I went here for a first-time Brazilian wax. The service was absolutely horrible! I asked if there was anything I needed to know or do before coming for my first time. They told me no. I requested wax for sensitive skin (as I'd used at other spas for bikini waxes) and was told that would be no problem. But when I went for the wax, they only had one wax - supposedly good for all skin types. The waxing itself was incredibly painful, and the woman actually had the nerve to laugh at me when I let out a scream of pain! She told me I was crazy for not taking some pain reliever before I went. The entire experience was incredibly painful, and quite humiliating because she made me feel so stupid for thinking it was painful. The woman suggested that I take a hot bath to relax when I got home. Unfortunately I took her word for what to do - and now the area is much worse. I've since learned that taking a hot bath is one of the WORST things you can do after a wax. I'm praying it does not get infected. To top it all off, she even did a terrible job of removing the hair - there is still hair in sporadic places that she did not get. I don't know why anyone would ever use this place. I surely will never go there again! I wish I had looked at reviews for them before getting waxed. I've learned my lesson. read more

I went to have a full spa day while my boyfriend spent a day at the golf club this was supposed to include an hour massage, hair, mani, pedi, lunch, makeup, and a facial the total was close to 400 dollars, so saying I expected a great day was not much to ask. The morning started off with the worst massage of my life I have had better massages at home than this. Then mani pedis and When booking the apt I asked if they provided gel nail service there and if I could get that in the package I didn't mind spending a little more well they didn't write that down because they only ha one girl that could do gel nails and she was books so I got plain nail polish on hands and feet which both chipped within 30 mins of leaving there. Then lunch which I only had about 10 mins to eat with the girl who did my hair and nails popping in every two mins rushing me because we were "running behind schedule" how is that possible?! The same girl who did my mani pedi did my hair which was a cut an color and let's just say when my hair was supposedly finished I inspected it as I always do and found a large chunk of my hair that was not colored at all! When I brought this to her attention she went back and covered that spot with dye and instead of her washing my hair again she proceeded to take a wet wash cloth and try to wipe it out! I was livid! Then I asked about my facial and they said they were sorry but there just was not time although I made this apt about a month in advance! So I said okay charge me for it and we will make an appointment for the next day. The makeup artist that was supposed to do my makeup was to busy or moved on to another apt so I was put with someone else and I told her I do not wear my eyeshadow up to my brow bone and when I looked in the mirror I not only had eyeshadow up to my brow bone it was purple! I asked for black and grey smoky eye! The next day I showed up for my facial and they informed me that it wasn't included in the price I paid yesterday... Everything about this day was messed up! I will never ever return and I have plenty of friends who had bad experiences before an after mine. For the amount of money it's not worth having a stressful day at the spa I will just continue to go to pascals from now on! read more

I went to Spa Mizan for the first time today. Right when i walked in I had to wait in line at the register to check in. No one acknowledged me for several minutes. Finally I got checked in and a worker asked me to follow her to the back. She didnt introduce herself or anything and was basically running to the back. She handed me a clip board with paper work and asked me to sit in the relaxation room. She didnt even give me time to ask where the restroom was & didnt offer me anything to drink. It was super hot outside and man was i needing water. I was expecting her to bring me to a ladies dressing room to change into robe and slippers then to the relaxation room. My appointment was at 3:45. FINALLY at 4:10 my therapist came to get me. He said "sorry it took so long, we didnt have a room for you so we had to "make" one." We got to my room and he told me to get undressed and lay face down on the table. So I did and he came back in. He automatically started massaging me. No consultation or anything. I had a muscle spasm that day and needed deep tissue and for him to focus in that area. So i said "Do you need to know what areas i need you to focus on?" he said oh sorry yes mam.. where? So i told him. He didnt give my muscles time to warm up, he just started digging his elbows into my back. He literally talked the entire time of my massage. He talked about how he wants to quit his job and about personal information. After we were done and I was checking out, she asked me how it was.... my massage therapist was still standing there. Shouldnt she wait until he left to ask me that? I will NOT be back to Spa Mizan. read more
