Good day, I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon, 12pm to get a fill an a polish. The women were kind, the man , not so much. He was rude. As he went from nail to nail, he would move my hand down as to alert me that I was moving ( I've been going to nail salons for well over 15 years, never had a nail technician done that). He did it the whole time, then he'd push my hand back. I was respectful the whole time. I even asked a question, actually twice because I wasn't sure he heard me; a few seconds later, he raises his phone towards me and communicates his answer to me via his phone. I've been coming to Spa Nails Nine for almost five years now. I get ANC back-to-back, and pedicures about once a month (give or take). My nails stay healthy, and I've never had an issue with irritation or any other kind of yucky bacterial issues like other salons you read about. I absolutely LOVE the employees, and everyone is so sweet--and they just remodeled this year so the salon itself is beautiful! I normally work with Peter, Amy, or David but the entire team is very talented. I've read on here little tiffs here and there, so here are some tips to keep in mind: * the sander is used for cuticle removal, then the tweezer tool, so there isn't the traditional cuticle tool that other salons use; the sander and tweezers are less painful and do a great job * if you don't want to pay extra for the long lasting regular polish (silver top) you can bring in your own polish at no extra charge * if you visit (I believe) three or more times you're offered your own box with your own nail file and buffer--mine last a year each so it's well worth it * after eight visits/filling your customer card, you get a free mini-service, like eyebrow waxing, or a paraffin dip (there are others I don't remember) Like I mentioned, I love this salon and everyone works so hard. For years they offered ANC for only $20 while everyone else was already charing $35+, so cut them some slack on their new prices. Support your local businesses :) read more

I've been going to Spa Nail for over a year and I have always been very happy with my ANC nails. Amy the owner does a great job, as well as her daughter Erin. It's a clean space, the utensils are sterilized (you can get your own box) and they are very flexible to get appointments and reasonably priced. I would recommend! read more

What an epic bummer to have to update this review and say that I had a terrible experience... But I don't want you to say I didn't warn you! Since my initial review, I've been getting my ANC done exclusively at Spa Nail 9. My most recent experience (and sadly, my last) was so bad that I don't think I could ever return. Today I walked in for ANC and was seated with a woman I've not met at this salon before. Everyone there has been excellent so far, so I thought nothing of it. When she first picked up the product, I noticed her shaking the powder, eyeing it as if she wasn't sure about something. She picked up all the bottles looking a little, well, confused. I know enough about the process to know everything looked like it was in order, so I felt a pang of concern. I should've trusted my instincts. First she soaked my nails and spent way too much time on them with the dremel (that's the drill tool) and not enough time soaking, wiping, and repeating. Then she bent several of my nails so severely that it hurt. I kept telling her it hurt, but she kept doing it. Any nail tech should know that nails that have been covered with acrylic and then soaked can't be manipulated like that! Finally, she shattered a nail. She broke it so far up that I yelped (no pun intended) in surprise and pain. She apologized, and I let her keep going. Anyone can make a mistake, right? Then she cut me with the dremel. Just shredded a big ol' cut into my cuticle. It was deep enough to bleed. Again, I yelped and she apologized. And then she put the bit back in the drawer! You guys, I don't think I need to explain how unsanitary that is. She CUT ME and then kept that dremel bit. She asked if I wanted my nails trimmed. I asked her to file them a little. Instead, she cut them in HALF. She asked if I wanted pointy. I said yes. She made them oval. The final result was blotchy color, with jagged, sharp edges, and completely uneven all around. The tip she applied to the shattered nail was not attached properly, so my real nail was just kind of flapping underneath. I tried asking her to glue the false tip, she didn't understand. I asked her to make the misshapen nails more even, and she said ok, but then didn't do anything. By the time she was done I was so taken aback that I didn't even have the nerve to complain. I paid and ran out the door. I won't be back. Why won't I be back even though everybody else there has been great? Because I don't feel I can trust a salon that would hire someone who can't perform the services they provide. Bummer. I really liked it here. read more

This place is amazing I got my nails done three weeks ago and they still looked beautiful! The guy was very friendly and kind. He made sure I liked the color I choose! The place closes at 8 and they worked past 8 to finish my nails and other customers. He didn't rush my nails at all! I loved my nails when they were finished! I usually go to another place but the last place I went to charged me 45$ for a new set and ANC and to get them taken off. This place charged me 25$ and I got them taken off and re done and it was a better job! This place is perfect! There prices are great, this is the best nail salon in the area. Also when you go there three times they give you a customer box where you get everything of your own! read more

Spa Nail 9 - Nail Salons Near Me - Altamont, New York

The first time I went here, they were very welcoming and attentive. I had a basic mani-pedi with the complimentary paraffin and massage. Very nice and I raved about the place to my friends. But the next time I went (on a Saturday) for an ANC manicure (similar to gel) I felt rushed along. No paraffin, no massage. I'm not high-maintenance, but those added touches were nice and set Spa Nail 9 apart from other nail salons I've been to in Albany. The manicure was ok, nothing to rave about. I went back on a week night to have the ANC polish removed as it's difficult to do it yourself. They weren't busy and I got right in. The nail tech soaked my nails in acetone for a short time, and rather than waiting for the remover to work, she used the power dremel tool and not-so-gently buffed my nails to remove the polish. Several times I asked her not to do it and said that it was uncomfortable, but she kept right on. Another tech stopped by and suggested she soak my nails some more, but she continued with the dremel. At that point, I should have walked out. But didn't. And I paid $20 for it. Lesson learned. The result is that my (formerly healthy) nails are very fragile and peel easily. A month later now, a layer of nail is growing back, and although there's a definite ridge between old and new, it's progress towards healthy nails again. Bottom line...Spa Nail 9 is ok for a basic mani-pedi, but I don't recommend the ANC treatment. read more

Never again.went one time. After 3 days my nails started to lift. Went today for a fill. I get the gel. There rennovating and will be open tomorrow. I asked for an appt then, first they said 3:30 tomorrow, the man said you have acrylic, i said you did them 2 weeks ago, now all of a sudden hes too busy tomorrow and laughs at me. I said no problem I'll go somewhere else. I went across the street, so pleasant I even decided to give anc a try. There so pleasant and my nails look great. Unfortunately, I have yet another update for Spa Nail 9. I went to this nail salon quite regularly, and about a month ago I visited for a gel manicure. The nail tech used a nail file with too much grit, and and unfortunately, my gel manicure came out bumpy and messy. (I could have done better myself.) I will not be returning. read more

I've gone here 4 times, 2 of which I paid with my card. The last time I went their machine declined my card, I did have sufficient funds and proceeded to log into my bank account on my phone and show them. They were very rude about it and told me it's not their problem and it was my card.. I then showed them the pending withdrawal from my account- charged by them, and another pending reimbursement. So my card was working fine and it was in fact their machine malfunction. I asked where the closest ATM was, figuring there was probably one in the plaza but they told me across the street. The owner took a photo of my license before I left (which made me nervous and uncomfortable but I didn't argue). I ended up having to pay a $5 ATM fee and they ended up loosing a client. read more

If i could give them a 0 i would. I showed them a picture of coffin nails, they were nude and had clouds on them however i ended up leaving with pink oval nails with flowers. They said they couldnt do the clouds so i asked if i could get the nail art they draw on and they said i couldnt for some odd reason. Then i asked for a certain sticker but i couldnt get it because my nails were "too light" however i ended up getting stuck with a WHITE flower? not to mention the countless time they kept cutting my cuticles shorter and shorter making me bleed. read more

AMAZING! I always get an ANC (Amazing Nail Concept) manicure. I have never had a problem with the nails, but I know that if I do I can simply come in the next day and have it fixed. The staff are always welcoming and seem to do more than just your average nail salon. A regular manicure and pedicure will involve the paraffin wax and shoulder/neck massage, while the ANC does not include the paraffin wax. I highly recommend this place, so much so all my family and friends and coworkers attend this place. Peter and his wife are wonderful people who offer an amazing nail experience. read more

I am surprised to see any negative reviews for this nail salon. I ALWAYS have a great experience and the folks are pleasant, timely and do a very nice job. They no longer do the paraffin for regular manicure - but I understand and was surprised it was included in the first place. It is still included in basic pedicure. I have 6 friends who now travel from Albany because they came once with me to get their nails done... every time. I have never done acrylic, vinyl or anc.... so I cannot speak for that. But if you want a great mani/pedi - this is the place to go! read more

This is my favorite nail salon.. and I have been to plenty in my lifetime. Peter and Amy run this salon beautifully. Amy knows that I prefer for her to do my ANC and for Anna to do my pedicure, so every time I schedule my appointment, I can guarantee that she makes sure to have Anna do my pedicure, and she always does my ANC without fail. Not to mention, my nails look perfect. They really go above and beyond to make you feel special and are perfectionists with their work. Also, I rarely ever have to wait. It is understandable that nail salons get busy, especially around the time of a special holiday or on the weekends, and on very few occasions I have had to wait ten minutes past my appointment time. 97 percent of the time, I am taken right when my appointment was scheduled. I will never settle for another nail salon. I am happy to keep coming back and giving Peter and Amy my business!! :) read more
