Strange experience. Massage was ok but when it came time to pay and give the tip I paid the $60 for the hour massage and wanted to pay $15 for tip (25%). This was a painful and unusual experience. As soon as I walked in, I was rushed to a room that was not yet cleaned up after the previous client. Receptionist/massage directed me to one of the stands as she folded the used towels on the other. She then left, came back, and started the session. I went in today despite COVID because of a flare up in my chronic pain problems. I want to say off the bat that the experience I had today is not the usual. Spent the entire session in pain to be honest. She went so deep and hard I was sore and sensitive very quickly. I was tender then I've ever been. I actually couldn't help myself and jerked away a few times. I asked her to be gentler but I guess she didn't understand me. I have actual bruises on my shoulder blades and what feel like bruises but aren't visible on my backside. Im giving 3 stars because this was unusual. I'm usually very satisfued with the massages I get here. They're doing well with COVID precautions- beds are covered with a disposable liner, tho fair warning that between that and your mask it can be hard to breathe. The place is on the 2nd floor, so slightly above the hustle and bustle of the street - not much traffic noise (though it was Sunday evening so not too busy on the street). Walls are thin - but there are walls! So that's one benefit. I do have one complaint: they use a timer (presumably to show they are hinging you your full time) - transparency is great but it's the beepy digital kitchen ones so NOT great - it beeps loudly when they set it, then loudly when it goes off which is less than relaxing...ugh. Went to the Spa on 7th located at 69A 7th Ave on the second floor in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn. Both ladies were busy with clients so I was asked if I could wait. While waiting I noticed that the place was clean and comfortable. After about 15 minutes Eva appeared and directed me to my room. She greeted me warmly and inquired of my preferences. I explained that I required a strong massage. Eva did not disappoint, she went to work, probing and manipulating my sore muscles. Oh the feeling was wonderful! I've had many massages in the usual New York massage places. That's all I was expecting here. Even by those standards, this place was a hot mess. Do not go here if you are in a hurry or have any need beyond a relaxing rub-down. I'll be specific, as I know expectations and needs vary widely when it comes to massage: 1. Made an appointment through Yelp messaging for 4:30. I got there on time and there was no one to welcome me except the person *already giving a massage* to someone else. She stuck her head out and told me to wait ten minutes. (Sorry, naked person!) 2. At least 20-25 minutes later I was ushered back to a room by another massage therapist, who apologized profusely for the wait. She didn't ask how long or what I needed. 3. I laid naked on the table for easily another ten minutes, then wrapped myself in a towel and stuck my head out to see if they forgot about me. It was clear they DID. More apologizing. 4. Some guy I had not seen there in jeans and a t-shirt comes in. (He was not wearing the uniform shirt and really seems terrified.) He doesn't speak to me, but I tell him "neck and shoulders" anyway and point. He then starts *pinching* my back fat down my back and rubbing my butt for a while. I get that butt rubs are part of the deal, but I literally just pointed to my neck. I ask him to stop, tell him "neck and shoulders" again, point again, then he leaves for a few more minutes and comes back with a mini towel and holds it up to me. I have no idea what is happening and ask to speak to someone else. 5. I'm visibly frustrated and start to put my clothes back on when the woman who ushered me into the room comes in, apologizing again, and asks what I need. I'm very clear that I'm in pain in my neck and shoulder. She apologizes again and tells me she'll give me a discount for my trouble. 6. The massage was relaxing, but not focused on my neck and shoulder. I give up. I just decide to give in and try to relax, as I'm already naked and committed. 7. When it was time to pay, I reminded them of the discount. The two women at the desk area said no, they don't do that. I couldn't find my massage therapist to confirm, so had to pay the full amount. (I didn't even ask for the discount, it was offered to me. I *never* ask.) 8. THEN the two women at the counter said my neck and shoulder were very tight and should come back again next week! HAHAHAHAhahahaha!!! NO SHIT. I know it's a roll of the dice with cheaper walk-in places, but I walked in at 4:30 and turned my phone back on at 6:22 while still in the massage cubby. My one-hour massage took 1 hour and 42 minutes! They were easily the most disorganized, confusing 42 minutes I've ever spent in a NYC massage place. And, no, I won't be going back next week. Very weird experience. I was able to do a walk in appointment which was great, but there were a lot of really strange things about this place. 1- the receptionist rushed me into a room without even asking what treatment/length of massage time I wanted 2- (probably the weirdest part) she left mid massage FOUR times. She didn't stop the timer so I probably got a 20 min massage by the end of it not 30 min. I think at one point someone else started massaging me while she was gone. No explanation just left the room for like 3 min, 4 different times. I could hear her greeting other clients and setting them up in a room. 3- it was VERY painful. I'm not a baby but she could tell she was hurting me and just said "massages are painful" 4- they charged me for a 60 min massage instead of a 30 min massage. I politely corrected her and they apologized but it was really weird. 5- I tipped and she claimed she couldn't break the bill that I had so I had to give her a really large tip even though all of the above happened read more

I've visited this spa twice, and have had very disappointing experiences both times. I would not recommend going here. The massage itself (I got a 60-minute deep tissue) is fine. But today, my massage therapist left the room three times to attend to clients who were walking into the spa. A different massage therapist stepped in to continue the massage while my therapist was out. My therapist laid her phone on the bed, and checked it repeatedly during the session. And worst of all, I was placed in a couple's room because all the single rooms were taken, and they literally brought another customer into the room for a massage on the bed next to mine mid-way through my session. This was the height of unprofessional conduct. And while the therapist was apologetic as I left, she didn't discount the service, didn't offer me change, and took a 20 percent tip. I opted for the one hour session and for the first time did not specify which type of massage I would like which resulted in the most AMAZING massage from Amy. I don't know what to call it. Was it a Thai massage? A house massage? Some blend of techniques? I have no idea, but it was fantastic. I'm pretty sure Amy was straddling my head at some point...that was new...and the work she did on my glutes and IT bands was excruciating, but I feel fantastic today and have already gotten several major adjustments out of my back since leaving the spa. She was extra attentive to my problem areas, and I left feeling less stresses and more relieved after my massage. Cozy private rooms as supposed to being separated by curtains like some places. I walked in here with my boyfriend yesterday afternoon hoping to get a massage, and the staff was super friendly and gracious and got us in immediately. We both got 60 mins of deep tissue massage for $55 apiece which is an AMAZING deal that holds a serious candle to the body work places around here. The difference between a body work place and Spa on 7th is that the massage quality here was excellent for the price, whereas in my experience with body work places they just jab their elbows and knees into you for an hour. The massage here was really, really good and I have not found a massage anywhere in Brooklyn at this price that is as high quality. I would recommend coming here if you're stiff, need a knot worked out, just need to relax, etc. You will be in very capable hands. Both of us feel great today, and much less stiff and achey than we did when we walked in yesterday. The massage itself was lovely and they even used hot stones and hot towels which was soooo relaxing and a great unexpected addition to the experience.
