Ended up here randomly on Indigenous People's day and we had such a good time. It is kind of pricey in my opinion but there is a lot of ground to cover and they have so many animals. They accept cards too! Lots of parking across the street. I'm not a huge fan of zoos but if you're into it this is def a spot worth checking out. We saw lions, tigers, bears, all types of deer, and more. They also had museums which had pretty cool stuff. There is space inside to have lunch and there is also tables outside you can snack at. They have playgrounds for the kids too.

Love it here. Been coming here since I was a baby. I seen other comments about the cages being too small and the animals not being taken care of. Which isn't true at all. The animals are taken care of very well and the cages are perfect for each animal.

Very well organized drive-thru Zoo due to Covid-19. Felt Very Safe with everyone in their Vehicles. Not a long drive-thru but you can burn an hour with heavy traffic within the Zoo on weekends. It's something to do with your Children. -Not allowed out of your cars. -6 feet apart vehicles are not enforced; so Bumper to Bumper with traffic within the Zoo. -Go before 11AM for less traffic

What makes this place most unique is the amount of animals located on premises. Over 500 animals! As the name states, I would definitely describe this place as a zoo and museums located on farm land. Parking is located across the street. As you enter to the left you have the option of entering a pizzeria. To the right you have a mini museum full of taxidermies. Upon arrival the employee was friendly to greet us and explained the area/map for us. She also gave us the option to purchase corn and crackers in advance to feed the animals. As we begin our adventure we walk near our first set of animals. It was an area full of chicken, roosters and goats. Continuing on the trail, it is very easy to navigate. Along the trails I felt like most of the animals were easy to feed. Most of what we fed were deers, goats and sheep. As we got to the bears we were fortunate to see the workers feed them. The worker even got the bears to stand and wave! Many animals I didn't realize were there as the signs weren't visible/big enough. Names are located on a regular sized paper. Therefore you must walk to each side of the fence to read it. I completely recommend using the map for full guidance. The museums are worth the walk and view especially for those who enjoy antiques. Look out for the bell tower as it can also be seen when driving here. Another enjoyable area is the picnic/play area that even has slides.

Holy Cow! It felt like we were in a safari trip but with gates in between you and the animals. We were so darn close that you were able to smell the breath of the animals. There were very few visitors which is sad as this is an amazing place for kids of all ages. I highly recommend this beautiful animals sanctuary to everyone who is a animal lover or with kids.

    How much is admission?

Too much whatever it is, this is the most depressing place on Earth. The animals are in small enclosures that poor bear is suffering every day of his life and nobody seems to notice

It's not as large as the Bronx Zoo, but it's certainly getting there. -Animals: We saw beautiful, large flamingos, penguins, numerous wildcat species, giraffes, bald eagles, hyenas and more... -Living Conditions: All the animals are protected by high fences. The animals appear to be very healthy. Their living conditions appear to be very clean. -Sea Turtle Recovery Center: Besides the wonderful animals, there's a Sea Turtle Recovery Hospital on the premises. You can visit the "patients". It was an interesting experience. Once the sea turtles have regained their health, they're be released back into their natural habitat. -Food: You'll probably get hungry during your visit. The zoo has several food kiosks and a large indoor and outdoor café called Zanzibar. -Gift Shop: Of course, there's a cool gift shop at the zoo. Lots of adorable stuffed animals for purchase. -Parking: Parking was free this past Sunday. There's several indoor parking garages with clearly marked animal logos. Looking forward to my next visit to Essex County Turtle Back Zoo.

It was quite busy on Mother's Day (which is expected), but I still had a great time and we lucked out with beautiful weather. The zoo staff was friendly and helpful. There were plenty of food and drink options, but I didn't partake. Lots of informative signs about the animals and their rehab center, too. My favorite animal to watch were the prairie dogs - so cute!! A close second was the red panda. Kids could get closer to the prairie dogs by popping their heads out of plastic domes in the exhibit.

He would randomly drop down to say hello and it made our hearts melt. When feeding time came around he was the main attraction. Seeing the kids interact with him paid for the price of admission. The kids loved the cockatoo's and any other bird that would talk. Watching my five year old try to have a convo with them made us laugh. They had a lot of gorgeous animals - lynx, cute prairie dogs, male and female African lions, jags, leopards, a tiger, bobcats, etc. The Eagle Owl they had was one of my favorites. What a beautiful animal. Stunning. They have an enclosed reptile area with over a half dozen snakes, lizards and a few spiders. The bathrooms were large and kept up with for the most part. The trails were easy to follow, so I'd imagine it's hard to get lost. The staff was nice, seemed passionate and caring for the animals. Cons: Only one bathroom near the front entrance. It's not a huge park, but it would be nice to have more options. Lack of flat pathways. After days of rain there were lots of puddles and running water because the park is not totally flat. Rocks and roots are exposed so be mindful if you're not steady on your feet. Some of the animals are hard to see because the protective plastic was fogged up. May have been the temp changes. Their food area could use a face lift. They offer food for eat in but we passed and found someplace outside the park. Their retail store had a lot of items (tons of stuffed animals) but we skipped this go around. We would return. The kids enjoyed the park. We spent about two hours there and felt it was worth the money. Remember this is a small zoo in the Poconos, not a large City zoo. Thanks guys!

An old coworker of mine used to RAVE about the Bronx zoo, and he was not lyin. We saw everything, including but not limited to giraffes, rhinos, gorillas, camels, tigers, sea lions, aardvarks, lions, a peacock, etc. All those were rad, but seeing an Okapi truly altered my brain chemistry. I didn't even know an Okapi existed, and am still not fully convinced they do. It was a half zebra, half giraffe, and half horse hybrid. One cannot help but make the comparison to ManBearPig. It really got me wondering. If I didn't even know Zebraffehorse existed, what else don't I know about the world? Sometimes we get stuck in routines and being trapped in this bubble inflates our egos to the point where we think we understand everything. Seeing this Okapi humbled me and reminded me that all I know is that I know nothing. Get over to the Bronx Zoo, it's good for the soul. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo

The conditions the animals are kept in are deeply concerning. Several animals were confined to extremely small enclosures with little to no enrichment. The monkeys, in particular, showed clear signs of distress such as repetitive behavior, throwing themselves at the walls, and making alarming vocalizations that did not seem normal. They even had dirty, broken baby toys throw around their enclosure. There was a sign that stated the male monkey liked to "show" off like males tend to do, no, he's begging for help! I wouldn't even have a dog in a room in such disarray and small size for long periods of time, let alone an exotic animal. The lemurs were able to fit their entire bodies through the wiring. They give you a bottle of warm milk to feed an adult pig as well. Wild. Again, clearly there is no training with anyone working there or who owns the establishment in animal rearing or care. Other animals, including reptiles, appeared lethargic and poorly cared for. Heat lighting was inadequate and temperature + humidity was clearly off. Anyone with reptile experience can tell this instantly. This did not feel like a facility focused on animal welfare or education. It felt neglectful and uncomfortable to witness. I strongly encourage others to do their research before visiting and to consider supporting ethical, accredited sanctuaries and zoos instead. This place is very clearly a money pit done to pull in travelers and not to take care of the precious animals.

These were fantastic opportunities to interact with all of their animals, have a picnic, and basically enjoy the day with my children. So, not surprisingly, my daughter volunteered to help at some of their events (the farm is used to help those with developmental disabilities) and ultimately decided to have her 14th Birthday Party there on 8/2/15. This was, in my daughter's words, the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!! First, they have over 100 animals there ranging from camels to baby porcupines to monkeys. I don't know if it's because of their summer camp or the constant attention but the animals were all super sweet with the children. The kids fed them, picked them up, and I even fed a cracker to a camel with my mouth and got a kiss (highly recommend that). All this activity occurred around a central covered patio where the food and cake was served. They had storage for my party supplies, a fridge for the cake, and even supplied extra plates and extension cords that I had forgotten. But the absolutely best part our party at Country Ark Farm was the family that runs it. The owners themselves basically gave us free rein of the farm and provided two extremely sweet and knowledgeable young women to run the party, take care of our every need, and take us on a tour of the farm. These 2 ladies were incredible. They kept the party moving and anytime there was a lull, such as when some kids were done eating but others were still going at it, they would pull out some activity (face painting, bracelet making, water balloon fight) to keep the kids occupied. This was literally a stress free party. I would like to especially thank Rebecca for making the day such a success. She demonstrated both poise and grace in the face of over 20 kids, a family that came 45 minutes early, and an uninvited german shepherd one guest brought. You're the best!!!
