The dance floor is huge, the sound system is great, and the crowd is a fun mix of experienced dancers and people just coming out to have a good time! What I really appreciate is how welcoming the vibe feels. You'll see everything from two-steppers and west coast swing dancers to people just learning their first line dance. It's not intimidating like some dance halls can be, and when the place fills up the energy on the dance floor is fantastic. The staff has been great every time I've been there. The bartenders are quick and friendly, the door and security staff are helpful and polite, and you can tell the whole team is genuinely having fun working there. Management also deserves credit for how quickly they addressed concerns during opening week -- for example the A/C issue on opening night was fixed quickly, the dance floor refinished, and they've already added more seating along both sides of the dance floor which is really nice! They're also continuing to expand the experience with a speakeasy and outdoor patio expected to open soon, which should help with the Saturday night crowds. Speaking of Saturdays, the place has gotten so popular that lines can get long outside. If you want to avoid the wait, it's best to arrive before 9pm or come later after about 10:30pm. My friends and I have been going regularly since Mavericks opened, and as people who spend a lot of time around the DFW country dance scene, we've all noticed that every weekend seems to get better as the place finds its rhythm. If you enjoy country dancing, meeting new people, and a lively Texas dance hall atmosphere, Mavericks is definitely worth checking out!

My only complaint is that there aren't many places to set down a drink while playing, so it can feel a bit cramped when it's busy. The arcade is tucked away in an older shopping center, so it's easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Even with the Father's Day crowd, the staff stayed busy while remaining friendly and the restrooms were clean. My only complaint- the arrows in DDR are not very sensitive and tend to stick a little on their machines. It's very hard to adjust the initial difficulty level because the DOWN arrow on both sides of their machine is so not-receptive to touch you have to jump on it with intense force to move it from basic to more difficult. I'm actually pretty good at DDR and kept getting BOOS from arrows I was hitting. So just don't come here specifically for a DDR marathon and you won't be disappointed.
