The food was is exactly as you should expect, it's nothing fancy or anything. But it was still good and we enjoyed snacking on them throughout the night. Our hostess/server was Sarah. Super sweet and friendly. The moment we walked in she greeted us and although we were late we were still able to get our room. We had over 15 people and the room fit all of us with plenty of space to dance around and not feel crowded. Brandon assisted her all throughout the night as well. Both Sarah and Brandon kept our night running smoothly. They always checked on us and explained to us in full details on how their system worked. We were there for about 3 hours and no matter what we needed they were able to provide us with what we needed and always stay positive and friendly. At the bar was Millie we didn't have much interaction with her but she was super kind and would help us anytime one of us came up to the bar. The place in not super fancy or over the top, but we enjoyed every moment and the staff was great. The location makes it seem unappealing but that has nothing to do with the business itself. After a search for a karaoke in DFW, I came across Mac Karaoke and me not knowing the area that much, we decided to check this place out. Mac is located near the older part of Koreatown, and the plaza itself is honestly quite sketchy, but we thought it was just an old run-down area so we decided to check it out. We went in and just like the exterior, it looks pretty old in there. It looks like they also have a bar so you can chill there as well. We decided to get a room -- the menu advertised it as $20/hour but we actually got charged $30/hour. Maybe because of inflation? Not sure but I didn't want to ask. The rooms were ok with nice couches, but the speaker system was mediocre at best. The mic kept making howling noises and we ended up having to lower our mic volumes to make it work. We ordered soju, which was a whopping $20... It is too expensive even if it is a bar. Overall -- it was OK at best. I would give it more a 2.5 over 3 but because it got the job done.. read more

My boss booked a room for a company party and having never been to a karaoke bar i wasn't sure what to expect. Pulling up i was a bit worried as the outside is a bit scary looking and even the decor inside is dated, but i was pleasantly surprised. The employees were friendly and put up with our large rowdy party with a smile. There's an ipad with youtube on it so you're totally in control of what music is playing (just make sure you have someone who knows what they're doing at the music selection haha.) The drinks are about as expensive as a usual dallas bar, aka too expensive but not surprisingly so. The food is good and they bring it to your room when it's ready. They messed up one of our party's order and gave us the mistake food on the house so that was a nice surprise. I, the norebang (karaoke) queen had actually never been here before until now. It seems very clean and has nice tvs and you can actually kinda feel the bass when you're sitting on the couches. Also awesome is that they have a book which lists songs by artist! So useful since many times you cannot remember the name of the song. ANNNND they actually have an ENGLISH REMOTE. Amazing. I have pretty much memorized how to use the Korean remote by color, but having it in English is so much more convienent. The things I didn't like about the place is that they have no waiters. I did notice a sign in the restroom saying help wanted, but there is a bell in the rooms for a reason..and then I had to keep getting up to find the ajusshi and he wouldn't even be there. Also they didn't have my favorite yogurt soju, but the grape kind isgood though, so I wasn't too upset. Also they only give you popcorn :( I love how at zeller zone and even at star they give you peanuts, shrimp chips, and pretzels. This isn't a make or break thing though, just something I noticed. This past weekend we were looking for a karaoke bar that could accommodate a party of up to 20 for Josh W.'s birthday. We called around to all the usual places, but they were all booked until the wee hours in the morning. Just when we thought the night was ruined, our Korean buddy told us about this place. To be honest, I had passed by this place all the time when I'm in K-Town and have always dismissed it as inferior. Just one look at the exterior gives me shivers. Broken glass in the parking lot and a warehouse looking entrance? I'd say it's pretty ghetto. OK, maybe it's not that bad, but it's still pretty bad compared to the other places I usually frequent. But who am I to question my friend who makes this neighborhood his second home? We got there and the first thing I notice is the bar. It's decent in size with a lot of tables and chairs. Good for when you're waiting on your friends that believe in "Asian time." We only saw one lady there working that night, but she was nice. Like SUPER nice. We didn't get attitude for not speaking her native tongue and she even made small conversation with us. She's the most friendly ajumma I've ever met. But I digress. The rooms are laid out like any other Korean karaoke bar you go to. Nice, comfortable couches against the walls with coffee tables in the middle of the room. The couches are a bit newer, maybe because this place doesn't get as much patrons as the others. They also have metal frame chairs if you need additional seating. The screens are old CRT rear projection TVs, but it's not like we were watching a movie so it didn't really make much of a difference. The only knock for this place (other than the situation outside) is the song selection is a bit limited compared to the more popular ones especially if you're looking for English songs. This place is definitely catered towards the Korean community as about 75% of the songs in the catalog were Korean songs. Still, there was a decent amount of songs and everyone in our group found most of the tunes they were looking for. If you're expecting an array of current top 40 hits, you may be disappointed. After a few hours of singing (and drinking) the birthday boy started getting silly and accidentally flipped the table (how....?) knocking over drinks and a number of shot glasses. The ajumma that I aforementioned quickly came to the rescue by mopping the floor and picking up the broken glass. She even told US that she was sorry about something that was clearly our fault. She didn't even charge us for the broken shot glasses. Like I said, THE nicest! Everyone had a blast and this experience has made me a fan of Mac karaoke. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

the owner is so rude and starting yelling at us because we brought juice that we did not open nor drink! and charged us for it. The security saw the stuff we brought with us which is a cake and a bottle of juice, then another employee walked in on us and told us it's not allowed to bring juice, and I quote "since it's your first time it's fine, but its not allowed in general." she did not mention anything about an extra fee charge because of the juice, which "we did not open" because she said it's not allowed and then they proceed to charge us extra fee for it. The management suck and I'll never go back to this place ever again. I felt so uncomfortable and attacked by the management because of a goddamn juice :). read more

I'm a big fan of karaoke. What I'm not a fan of is singing karaoke in a bar and being heckled by drunks that I don't know. I much prefer my heckling to come from my friends! Which is why Mac Karaoke rocked my karaoke world. I have to say I was a little dubious going into the evening, since Mac is located in a less than stellar part of town and outside of the building leaves a little to be desired visually. But once I walked through the front door - which greeted me in a lovely female voice, btw - I knew that outer appearances can be deceiving. The inside was bright and clean and we were immediately greeted by a friendly employee. I'm not sure he knew what to think of all the white folks storming the door, but he was friendly just the same. We started out with a smaller room but soon realized that we needed to upgrade to a bigger room, which was handled lickety split. The couches were super comfortable and the mood lighting set just the right tone for the night. We sang - or shrieked, depending on which side of the door you were on - the evening away and had a blast revising 80s and 90s cheesy hits. Thank goodness Katie C. got her hands on a song list by artist, as it was a little hard searching for songs by song title. The only minor kink in my evening was paying $3 for a can of Coors Light. Meh. But I've paid more for beer and had less fun in the past, so it doesn't shade my opinion of Mac Karaoke enough to keep me from coming back. read more

So this is pretty much like the other Karaoke joints in K-town, except they have a really spacious open bar area. Some of the other joints have a smaller bar area so congregating while the rest of the group shows up isn't so much a hassle. That's about all I can really add to the other reviews. They all pretty much hit it on the spot. I do have to add that the bar keeps there aren't to keen on making fancy shmancy drinks, plus they don't have a FULL bar. Most Koreans will drink anything with alcohol and we don't complain, so that's why they don't have such a wide selection of beers and liqours in most Korean joints. Calling a Korean an 'Alcoholic' is just being redundant, just call us Korean. read more

OK. So this is not the snazziest place but it was a LOT of fun. You get your own room...we had 7 people so we had a decent size room that fit all of us comfortably. They kept us well lubricated so the singing got more and more fun throughout the night with more and more participants joining in as the liquid courage flowed. The sound and mics were really pretty good. The song selection was a bit limited and figuring out how to work the remote was a bit nuts. But we got the hang of it and had a blast. read more

We are regulars here, i have been here like almost once a week for a couple weeks. There one younger lady and one older lady that work here. The first couple times we were here the younger women served us and we had no problems with the price. (Only 2 people) Money was not the problem and i usually ordered 2 or 3 bottles of soju and stayed there for 2 hours or so. When we paid we never paid more than 60 dollars since it was just me and my bf. Today we came in and the older lady serviced us and we only got ONE bottle of soju this time and we stayed there about the same time we always do. We got the check and it was 70 dollars!! And i usually never say anything but i looked at what made the price change and the SOJU was 20$$$$$$ for ONE BOTTLE! i told her we been here many times and this is the first time we were charged this way. She said the SOJU had always been 20$$$$ /1 bottle!! i told her i wanted to speak with the original lady that usually services us and asked her if she could pull up our pay history because i have never been charged 20 per bottle of soju. She said they don't have record but soju has always been that price and i told her that i wasn't trying to be mean or cause problems and if they changed the price i just want them to notify us that the price has changed. I really liked this place before as i came here several times but ripping us off just makes me never want to come back. i wish i had the receipts to show them but i don't so i cannot do anything. BUT if ur coming here HEADS UP the SOJU is TWENTY DOLLARS a bottle without any deals. I even asked her if i got 3 bottles it would be 60??!! (Which i had gotten before) Dollars and she said yes. Ok, as a request from fellow yelper, let me write details on my experience. First of all, for whoever think I have to consider what I write, do not complain. This is Yelp. Real People. Real Reviews. I am no racist - This is what I experienced and this is what I will write. This was happened at the previous Mac location. There were 3 of us, we are not Korean. The girl said it will be 15-20 minutes wait. We agreed to wait and started ordering some foods so it will ready by the time our room is ready. 15 minutes passed by... nothing. 20 minutes passed by... nothing. 30 minutes passed by... still nothing. I saw they were cleaning one of small room and assuming that's for us because we were the only one waiting at the moment. But there's no explanation, no sorry, nothing! 40 minutes passed by, and there something: group of Korean teenager stepped in, chit-chat a bit with Mac staff and went INTO the room they were cleaning. We were like "what the hell is going on here?". We decided to left, our foods weren't ready either. By the time we were out, the lady chased us and asked if we still want the room or not. We said NO and we were ready to leave. She was asking about the food we were order. We told her that it was too long to wait and it was unfair for us because we've been waiting over 40 minutes with nothing. I love this place. Great service! Clean rooms. Equipment works. I always go here because I know what to expect. Food menu is limited but delicious pan fried dumplings. We usually eat before going so it's a good snack if we get hungry. I love their soju with cranberry juice. read more
