I have been going to this local shop for years, even its smaller location across the street, and is one of my favorite in all of Houston. They support local artists and are a model local business. Both carlos and Leila, owners, know exactly what they are talking about when it comes to describing each artist's products. They do an amazing job in promoting local talent, and not only that, but making sure we get different items to choose from throughout the store. Not only is space a beautifully, artsy, decorated store, but you feel so welcomed as soon as you walk in. They recently opened a new baby-area in the back, and im telling you you have to check it out with your own eyes! Your baby will be one coollookin hipster baby! how amazing to have stores like this in the montrose area, perfect location! This is a great place to buy yourself or some lucky person a really cool gift! I love handmade/non-mass-produced things, and I love supporting the people who make them. Space Montrose has tons of original and handmade things including prints, jewelry, shirts and children's toys. They sell things in a range of prices, from a few bucks to original art that is upwards of a few hundred bucks; there's something for every budget. The owner was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in interacting with the customers in a meaningful way and being as helpful as possible. I would definitely return here next time I'm in Houston. Even if you don't buy anything (though I'm not sure who could leave here empty-handed...), it's a great place just to browse and enjoy. read more

Space is a fantastic store in many ways-its concept is the most obvious. Through the years, we have enjoyed shopping for gifts. BUT, we had a most unpleasant experience there recently. We parked in one of their designated spaces with a 30 minute limit. After purchasing our gifts, we went next door to Common Bond to pickup our preordered purchases that had been prepaid. As we waited at the register, the owner of Space approached my granddaughter and I and proceeded to intimidate and cause a scene because our car was in his parking space-at this point we had been in the space for 15 minuets. When we arrived home, I called Space and he answered and he very rudely doubled down and wound not listen as he continued to talk incessantly and not hearing me. I pointed out that I was a regular customer and respected his parking issues and asked for an apology which he refused to give.And he was very rude to us. We will not be returning- read more

My friend and I discovered this place rather randomly one night ... And completely separately! She ended up doing a photoshoot w them after a short while and I became a huge fan. The space is cool, cozy and very friendly! Introduced and artist fiend of mine to them and they clicked immediately. The art work showcased and some of the pieces for sale are very unique. The place is filled with creativity without any intimidation! Hope this make sense. Great for gifts. Highly recommended! Neat little place to buy some cute pieces of artwork and clothes! In particular, I love the unique baby clothes carried here. I can't quite afford spending so much on an outfit that will be grown out of in a month for a baby but one of these days I will indulge! I love this store. I bought my husband a few things here in the past for Father's Day and like to pop in every once in a while to see the new things they have. I love this cute little Montrose shop! I can always find some quirky gift for the hardest people to shop for on my list (and a lot of things for me!) I love their print selection and children's stuff. Now that they moved locations, there is much more parking. The owner of the shop is really friendly and personable, and very helpful. I'm sure this store is great. However, my experience with the store owner was not. On a cold rainy day, I went to try Common Bond. The parking space I pulled into was labeled "space" 30 min. As I was getting to go I thought I would have no problem getting out of that parking space in that time. Well, the line was long and it ended up taking me about 40 min to get out of there, finding my car about to be towed away out of the lot. The tow truck driver said the store owner called him to tow me. I was confused, why would Common Bond call to have me towed for a few minutes over time? No, the driver pointed to the corner of the building- that store owner- Space. It finally clicked for me- the parking space labeled space was for this store named Space. As I stood in the pouring rain, with me and my car at the mercy of Space and the tow truck, I pointed out another car that was parked in a space also labeled space 30 min, that was there before I parked, why is that car not towed? Tow truck driver replied that's because it's the store owner's car and that they call him all the time to tow cars out of their spots. I paid to release my car and tried to explain my honest mistake to the store owner. I was told people don't respect their spots and hopefully I have a better rest of my day. Perhaps, adding additional signage such as " for customer parking only - Space retail" would help unwitting people such as I who think they have found a space to park labeled "space". Also, if there's an issue with limited parking for their shop, why does the owner park in one of these hard to come by spots and leave it available for the customers? read more
