We went the wrong weekend. We bought the City Pass and so did the rest of the tourist who came to visit! Lol. The lines were long and the only line that was moving was the one for the kiosk (which is no fair for those who technically bought in advance). The elevator girl (I think her name was Jaime) was very nice, funny, and informative. The views are spectacular and I'm glad they added the selfie view so you get a nice picture with your group with the view of Seattle. Very nice! read more

Great view of Seattle at night! Kinda expensive at 22 per adult and 13 for kids but for out of town guests this is THE thing to see. I wouldn't pay to go up again, but would recommend to try at least once. read more

The best part is you get to go to the top twice in 24 hours, so you can see the skyline in both the daylight and at night. I can't wait to go visit the Space Needle when I visit with my family later this Spring, but I have to give their customer service 1 star. And that's only because zero stars isn't allowed on Yelp! I was reading on Trip Advisor that there was something called a VIP pass so I checked the Space Needle's website. I couldn't find anything on the site about such an option so I called their number. When the representative came on the line I asked him about VIP and he went off on a diatribe about how they can't control what people write, and they don't have a VIP ticket but also options change with the seasons so I should check back 2 weeks before my trip, and what about The Voyage. Would I be interested in that tour? I asked what that tour was like, and he switched to "Oh, well that might not even be available when you're visiting. Things change all the time." So while I had him on the phone I went to the Space Needle website, and told him I did not see a "Voyage" option. Would he please tell me where that was? He said he didn't know, and anyway I should check back 2 weeks before my trip. So I asked him "Check back on the website or check back by calling this number?" His voice, dripping with contempt, "I already told you sir. Check the website." Nice. Yah. You know, the website that doesn't have the information you referenced. Talking in circles and condescending to the public is not good customer service. Boooooo! read more

This is pretty expensive for what it is. You pay a bunch of money ($36 for the needle plus the Chihuly garden), wait in a queue for a while, and then all you get is a place to stand and take pictures. I mean, you have to do it if you're in Seattle, right? But it was a disappointment. The staff are plenty friendly, but you only experience them for about 60 seconds in the elevators. I find the Space Needle is most picturesque from the OUTside, not the inside. I think you can take lots of great pictures OF it, but the pictures FROM it are only so-so. If your itinerary can't squeeze it in, you're not missing much. read more

Not worth it. $16 pp for a 520' view of the place? Doesn't compare to the Hancock nor the Sears Tower - and to think this was built for the World Fair in '62 - SAD!! No wonder no one knows. It's surrounded by a sad, sad, sad, deserted, half-broken "Fun Forest", which is supposed to be a mini-carnival. The views aren't spectacular, and the "bar" is nothing more than a convenient-store-type checkout line. To top it off, we walked all the way here from Pike Street Market to pay $16. I recommend coming near sunset. Overpriced, overrated and a definite tourist magnet. But it is all worth it if you're a photographer. I was really hesitant on even paying more than $5 to ride an elevator to the top, but I caved in. Can i really go back to Long Beach and tell people that I didn't visit the space needle? Paying the arm and leg, I entered the top structure and immediately reached for my SLR. With a telephoto lens, this is literally a photographer's zone. Eh, I've been here too many times to get excited. Really, I paid $15 or so to go on a 40 second elevator ride to the top of the space needle, then to get out, walk outside and look through a telescope at the view of Seattle? I guess the first time it's okay, but this was my 3rd time in my lifetime, and even at my age, at 32, I felt like I'd been there, done that with the Space Needle. I guess it doesn't help that I have ADD like symptoms and nice views only keep my attention for about 50 seconds and then I'm bored. Maybe I were into views and nature I could stay up there all day and look through the telescope and be into it and then it'd be worth the money but, I'm not. Oh well, I'd come back again, though, just because it's something to do, and as I say in alot of my reviews, I usually judge things by the company I'm with more than anything. And as usual, on this most recent visit, I had fun, not because the view knocked me off my feet but because the people I was with were fun. read more

Super tourist trap built during the 1954? World faire as an attraction. Go to the top to eat pricey standard food or go one floor higher to be over 500' in the air and Have a ton of very pricey beers and look over all of Seattle. Loved my stay in Seattle and the view was awesome. Reminded me of being ion lop of lighthouses + beer. read more

A landmark that is worth visiting. The food was good but the menu selection was very expensive. The redeeming fact is that the meal includes admission to the observatory deck which cost $20 by itself making the meal cost reasonable. I enjoyed the interactive exhibits on the observatory deck. It was a beautiful night which made walking around the outdoor deck area a great experience. read more

Breathtaking views on a rare, sunny, clear sky day in Seattle, everybody was taking pictures and enjoying the view, which is pretty much all you can do, it does get boring after an hour or so to be completely honest, I would come back to experience it at night, just wish there was more to do up there, a full bar would've been great! read more

It's famous and it's iconic, and with a 20 minute wait to take the elevator up, I had to go up. The 360 degree view is pretty cool and even with the standard Seattle weather hanging around, it was still a photographer's paradise. Apparently, you also get a free photo email after taking a digital photo in line in front of a green screen. You have to go to the computer kiosk near the elevators at the top and then send your photo back to your email...pretty cool. I didn't like the fact that there's such a huge cafe and gift shop when there's one you're going to be dropped off in at the bottom of the elevator. But I guess if you're hungry, you could nosh and enjoy the view at the same time. read more

To needle, or not to needle, that is the question, tourists! I arrived in Seattle on a beautiful clear day, and do not regret my needle decision. (Despite the dollars that it cost.) It's an excellent way to view the city and gorgeous surrounding areas. On the observation deck, there's (of course) a Starbucks and you can get a beer if you so desire. Amazing views of Seattle! They have interactive screens throughout inside of the observation deck like a camera you can use to zoom into a particular area of Seattle and an informational screen where you can learn about different Seattle attractions. My boyfriend and I got the Seattle CityPass and the Space Needle was one of the attractions that was included. You are also granted 2 tickets for the Space Needle with the CityPass so that was plus because you can visit once during the day and once at night. read more

Admission is expensive, considering what you get - an elevator ride up, just to enjoy the view and snap some pictures. My husband and I decided to dine at SkyCity, since the meal includes access to the observation deck. Yes, the menu prices are steep, but we came at lunch and split several items. If you factored in the cost of the tickets, we spend about $40 on lunch alone. Not cheep, but pretty good for a tourist hot-spot. In any case, the view was simply stunning. We loved the peacefulness of the observation deck and lingered to soak in the sights. The downstairs gift-shop is a tourist-trap. Lots of over-priced, useless junk. I recommend going to the restaurant. The windows are much cleaner since you don't have 500 tourists rubbing their fingers and noses on them. Dinner includes a ride up to the observation deck and you get to dine in the revolving restaurant, SkyCity. The prices are very high, but if you subtract the $18 admission to the needle, it is worth it. And if you are thinking of just getting some coffee, think again, there's a minimum $35 charge per person. The ride up is fun. They have two glass windows on each side of the elevator and you have a pretty good view going up and down. Dining at the restaurant was nice. You need to make a reservation ahead of time. We had an 8:45 reservation and that was perfect - we went up when it was still light out, saw the sunset while we waited for dinner, and then had a night time view as we ate dinner. The food was good - we had Crab cakes - delicious Crab Mac & Cheese - good SkyGreens Salad - it was ok; I did like the apple in the salad Chocolate Cake with ice cream - AWESOMEEE!!!! I would go again just for the cake and ice cream The waiters were very nice and they had people speaking different languages in case you came from outside the US. Definitely something to do once, if you are in Seattle. I probably wouldn't go again, I think it would get old and really expensive. read more

I would say the reason why you would eat here is not just for the food, but the views that you get above as the saucer rotates 360 degrees in 45 minutes. So, you can either look at it as getting a good meal and a free trip or paying for the trip and getting a heavily discounted meal. As a local and someone who has been lucky enough to see the gradual changes that have taken place in the restaurant, this is definitely a place to come and treat yourself. It used to be the home of the $20 cheeseburger, now however, the food is definitely much more locally focused with some gourmet flair, and the portion sizes are massive. Aside from mobility issues, I never understood the appeal of paying money to stand in line for half an hour to go up in a high structure and look at a view for 5 minutes. Every city has plenty of places to clamber up and take in a stunning view for free. They're called parks; Seattle has many including Discovery Park. Alas, I continue to visit these tourist sites (Sears Tower, St. Louis Arch, Coit Tower) because a part of me is curious whether this one will be different. Nope. On the bright side, the Space Needle looks like a spaceship. Every time I saw it around town, the Men In Black theme song played in my head. Also, I was in Seattle for a wedding and the Space Needle was the site of the couple's first date. Cue the awwwws. Come here if you enjoy paying money to go up in high buildings. If you do visit, make sure it's a clear day when there are good views of Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound. Enjoy. read more

The Space Needle is pretty cool, the wait is a bit obnoxious though. I think only 2 elevators were being run when we were in line so things were going very slowly. I feel like stopping by is one of those things every tourist needs to do lest they be judged by other people when they return and are asked "did you go to the Space Needle!?" It can also get pretty windy up there so be prepared for that. I'd say the Chihuly Glass and Garden exhibit right next to the Space Needle is the real star of the block though. The art there is magnificent and if you bring a digital camera or instagram filter, you are going to wow your friends with the pictures you can take! read more

Apparently you can't walk up to the Space Needle to buy a ticket for immediate admission to go up. You have to buy your ticket at least a couple hours in advance and pick a time you want to go up. Regular adult is $21 (save $2 if you buy online). It's also better to go later in the day after 3pm after the fog and overcast is burned away so you have better views from up top. Before getting on the elevators, they will take your picture (for free!) and they will give you a card where you can view the photo once you're at the top and then you can email the picture to yourself. You have the option of picking a Seattle-themed background too. They also have someone up at the top outside on the deck that will take your picture for free with Seattle in the background. Although the Space Needle is not as high as the Sears Tower or Empire State Building, you still have nice views of the city, Mount Ranier, and the Pacific ocean. The viewfinders are free of charge too. Inside, they have this interactive wall of photos that people take and if you use a certain hashtag, they will post your picture on the wall and you can zoom in to any picture to find. They also have other interactive screens up top which are very cool for learning about Seattle. There is also food available in the middle if you're hungry (in addition to the rotating restaurant underneath the sky deck). The Space Needle is a must-visit if you're a tourist in Seattle. Very cool stuff up top. And there's no time limit as to how long you want to stay at the top. read more

I've been here on a sunny day and a rainy day so I've experienced the space needles observation deck in two different lights. When it's sunny and nice you get a beautiful, gleaming view of the harbor on one side and the joy of the city on the other. Something very peaceful about being up there. But when it's raining and winding, it's a nice adventure for the thrill seekers. Facing the harbor the winds pick up and could push you around a bit and with the rain coming down it can be scary, but fun!! I took a few laps around outside as my wife watched from inside the observation deck. I like how they have the directional markings of which direction your facing. It's an iconic part of the city, it's a must see and a must do when you're in town!! read more

On my fourth time to Seatlle I decided to finally visit the ever so famous Space Needle. Seattle doesn't have too many attractions to see and the Space Needle along with Pike's Place is probably the 2 most popular tourist spots to see. I'm not one to spend more than an hour admiring a view of any city from a tall building/structure. With that said, we visited Seattle and it was raining on and off throughout the day. We went at 3pm on a Saturday and thankfully there was no line or wait. it costs about $22 each and the inside of the Space Needle. Once you have your ticket, you're directed to an elevator that will travel 10 mph to the top of the space needle where you can walk around the perimeter and see all of Seattle. We went outside for a bit, but it was raining and it was very hard to walk around while trying not to poke anyone's eye out with our umbrella. After taking all of our pictures outside, we went inside where it was warm and cozy inside due to the heaters. We found very interactive screens where you can post a picture and send it to an email address where they will upload your picture onto their digital picture wall which was pretty cool. They had cameras located all over the city and had screens in which you could zoom in and out quite a bit. There was a cafe and a bar that served food such as hotdogs and alcoholic drinks. The bottom floor of the Space Needle is designated for it's gift shop where there is anything from tshirts to pens to snowglobes to figurines. Overall, so glad I finally went to the top. read more
